I love reading about everyone's presents! Some really thoughtful gifts too - time with loved ones, and the cross necklace both stand out in my mind.

One of my favorites to open was kind of funny. It was what looked like a belt. Upon further inspection it was actually a serpentine belt (for my car), new sparkplugs and a new fuel filter for my truck. All things on my list of 'car maintenance that I need to get done,' but my dad saw the price that the dealership quoted me, bought the stuff and is going to do it all for me for free!

AND my dad ordered a custom sliding screen screen door for my patio so I can have a nice breeze with no bugs! SO excited!! (and even sweeter is that he was in my backyard yesterday in the pouring rain to see if I needed it in almond or white to match my door, and I had no idea).

ETA: Edited my post & deleted most of it. Just felt weird about sharing. I was happy to spend a great day with family. The presents were a bonus.

Had to delete my old account, but I've been here since July 2006!

Lots of wonderful things so I'm sure I won't remember to list all of them!

my 1st smart phone
a point & shoot camera (the exact same 1 I bought 2 days ago & will return)
GCs to Michael's, Panera, Penney's
Glenn Beck book
travel tote for scrapbooking
Keurig drawer/stand
Magic Mike & Rock of Ages dvds
Queen greatest hits
Alan Jackson cd
ET Hallmark ornament (yes, I collect ET things)

And as silly as it sounds, a stress free, no fight family Christmas! Sometimes my sisters can drink too much and start bickering but this time they didn't and it was all good

I also had a lot of fun with gifts that I gave that really seemed to be very well received

Thanks to DH's hard work this year we got an ipad, new smartphones, new recliners, and a tv. We are set for lazy days. My favorite gift though came from my sweet DS who is 16 and has autism. We went to see The Hobbit this weekend and he knows I love to read so he got me The Hobbit book "to remember the good time we had at the movies."

I am going to have to wait for mine.

When I was small somebody was talking about the trim around top of a room, saying it was truly beautiful crown molding. Of course I lived in a house without trim and nobody I knew had trim, so I had never heard of crown molding. I kept looking for the "crowns".

My Husband is finishing up the cabinets for the new house, and was talking about the molding that he is going to use.

Yes, I asked him to make me molding with "crowns" in it.

He has started to design it, but hasn't started on the final piece.

I can't even list it all out. It feels too greedy or something. I feel like I didn't do a good enough job thanking everyone who got us nice things.

From FIL, Step-MIL, BIL and his GF:
* A GC for 4 show tickets (we like to see the travelling Broadway musicals that come to Seattle)
* See's candy

From SIL:
* Last Xmas we got her flying lessons. She's a photographer, so while she was flying, she took photos of Seattle (from the air) and had them printed on wood blocks from Photobarn.com for us. They are so neat and special!

From DH:
* An alpine diamond band
* A tanzanite cocktail ring
* A Paris calendar
* A set of vintage Paris postcards
* A custom iphone case with a picture of my Rusty dog
* Seasons 1 & 2 of Downton Abbyey
* A cute mini-suitcase for my jewelry-making supplies
* A My Little Pony t-shirt
* A Grumpy Cat t-shirt
* A Grumpy Cat make-up bag
* Betsey Johnson slippers
* Fancy striped straws
* Washi tape x 2
* A sushi scarf

From MIL:
* Mushroom tap lights (omg so cute!!)
* A Dia de los Muertos bracelet (handmade by her - love!)
* A red, cowl-neck sweater
* An adorable polka dot ruffle top
* A Carhart jacket
* A Gurgle pot!! (I've wanted one of these forever!)
* Starbucks GC
* Cheesecake Factory GC
* $$$

See? Spoiled.

I also got a pair of Joe Boxer pajamas which I love, two gift cards from the Avenue and Vanilla Petals from Carol's Daughter. OMG!!! It is heavenly!

DH and I are finally decorating our bedroom - we bought bedding, sheets and towels and I'm going to pick out paint tomorrow. We'll paint over the weekend and then I get to go accessory shopping.

That was our big gift to each other. Everything else was small, kitchen-gadget stuff that I picked out myself. I used every single gadget to make Christmas dinner, though, so I know I chose well. The only disappointment is that my brand new probe thermometer doesn't seem to work properly and the meat was a bit overcooked.

My hubby scoffed at me asking him to go to a wine & paint your own painting pub earlier this year. But then he bought a paint by numbers set. He painted one of them and gave my 10 yr old niece the other one to paint for me. Sweetest gift set ever. I love all the gifts I got but the paintings I'll remember forever.

My favorite gift was something I never imagined I wanted...

My brothers are big nerds--very techie. They always get me techie things for gifts because that's what they're comfortable with. So every year, I wonder what new-fangled gadget I'm going to get (it's how I got my TV and Kindle Fire--so I won't complain).

This year--they got me the Sonos Wireless HiFi system. When I opened it, I was like..."Yay...speakers?" (But seriously--why do I need speakers--I have speakers on my laptop!) But I have to say--I LOVE these speakers! They hooked up some magic box to my router. Then you just plug the speakers in the rooms you want them. They installed an app on my phone--and now it's like a remote control for the speakers. I can listen to my iTunes or Pandora or internet radio all over the house. And it actually sounds GOOD! (What did I know? I still listen to the cheapie boom box I've had since college). They did good!

I hope everyone's Christmas was as lovely as mine.

We had a great first Christmas together in the same country (and married). Some relatives we rarely see came to visit for a week and it was great. My husband surprised me with a new handbag/purse. I had been after a smaller one for functions that would just fit my purse (wallet) and medication for the night. He also got me the slushy machine I was after and the chocolate fondue set I liked. He also got me a zombie survival guide ( ). My aunt got him an SAS survival guide, so between us we are set for any apocalyptic events. His parents were nice enough to send me over some earrings and a necklace in green sea glass. They are really quite pretty and I love them.

My parents got us a new printer/copier/all in one to share. They also got me a carry bag for my Manfrotto tripod (birthday gift from my husband and family in October), some cooking books, face cream, new pjs, lottery scratch its, an itunes gift card, chocolate for the fondue and rock salt for the slushy maker, an avocado slicer and a digital measuring spoon set. I got a bunch of stocking stuffers too. Lots of lollies (candy) and particular ones I like that are more difficult to get in Australia from my husband (Reeses pieces). I got a scarf from my parents that is really nice. My aunt got me a sprout maker which is really cute and a PC game I was after.

Then we went out today and used one of our wedding gift cards to purchase a Tefal actifry plus that also came with a Tefal/Jamie Oliver frypan, since the Boxing Day sales were on. I picked up another game and have spent a happy afternoon immersed in that.

My parents got me three more place settings of my Fiesta dishes, and some chocolate-covered macadamia nuts, which is a family tradition since our family trip to Hawaii in 1989.

We have Christmas with DH's family this coming weekend, so I have two more gifts to come. I must've been a good girl!

My adult son gave me a couple of very thoughtful gifts. The first is a beautiful turquoise necklace. I love turquoise, and while I enjoy wearing jewelry, I VERY rarely wear necklaces....even though I've said in passing many times that I wouldn't mind trying. So clearly he was listening. The other was a bottle of vodka. I'm not really a drinker, however a friend of his' parents started a boutique vodka company 2 years ago, and last year I tasted it. It is amazing! It can't be purchased out here, so he bought a fifth when he was in Ohio a few weeks ago, and then packed it in his suitcase (with fingers and toes crossed that it wouldn't break) and brought it with him from NYC.

My husband gave me 2 Boden sweaters and a pair of leggings (I've never shopped there before) that are perfect for me. He also gave me a sweater and skirt from JJill, a pair of turquoise and gold earrings, a pair of ankle boots, and new earbuds for my iPod. I use it all the time when walking and my old ones were getting staticy.

We have no other close family, so that's it....and I am feeling very spoiled

DH did a great job this year!

I've become a runner in the last few years, so he got me:

a 13.1 mile/road less travelled tshirt

cute hot pink compression socks! I've wanted them forever, but the thought of spending $60 on a pair of socks made me want to hurl!

a new iphone 5 to replace the phone I ruined from running with and sweating on. LOL

an ipod nano so I don't run with and ruin my new iphone

a kindle! A plain old kindle so that no one in the family will touch it except for me!!

I'm really happy

Co-workers/ work related: many Starbucks giftcards (they know me well!), Nordstroms GC, mall GC and a book "Blood, Bones and Butter"

BFF (I've had a rough couple of months that almost no one other than her knows about, so she really spoiled me!): Lucy top, socks, Ted DVD and my favorite shampoo and conditioner

DH: Lululemon running jacket

from Me to Me (courtesy of holiday bonus): Lululemon Scuba jacket and pair of short suede boots

my husband got me a beautiful new wedding set, boot socks, a scarf/glove set, a new plug in candle warmer, owl candles, and a stocking full of goodies

my parents got me a special pot for dipping chocolate and accessories to go with it and a giftcard to logans

my brothers got me hello kitty pj pants and a lacy blank tank top (my sister apparently helped them pick this out-it's totally my style but they were very confused by it b/c you have to wear another tank underneath it)

my sisters got me gone with the wind on dvd and a mary poppins ornament (we went to disney together in november and she got it there; my grandma called herself mary poppins when we were growing up so it's very special to me) and an amazon giftcard.

Charming when necessary.

First, I should mention that I have a circulatory disorder and am CONSTANTLY cold and my fiance is, in his words, a "hot-blooded Latino" who always runs warm thus we keep our apartment at a frigid 60 degrees and I just pile on the blankets. So keeping that in mind, I received from my future in-laws

One heated blanket, a pair of knit arm/hand warmers, fuzzy slipper socks and a Snuggie.

My parents got me

One heated throw, a pair of flannel pajamas, fuzzy slipper socks, Smitten Kitchen cookbook, a fleece hoodie, honey-almond body wash, an outdoor fire pit (for our apartment patio) and Outback Steakhouse gift card.

From the fiance, I got Cards Against Humanity, marshmallow vodka and Lush Snowcake soap.

I was totally spoiled this year!
The icing on the cake came today when I got my last gift. My DSO was quite disappointed when the gift he had finally picked didn't make it in by Christmas Eve. He had a turquoise necklace for me to open but told me that my main gift was yet to come. Turns out he bought me a cowboy boot charm from Tiffany's for my Tiffany charm bracelet he bought me several years ago. I recently took up horseback riding again after a long break so the fact that he wanted to commemorate that meant a lot.

I got a bunch of great stuff that is exactly what I wanted, but the most amusing gift came from my sister: a hand-painted sign (craft fair style ... I'm sure that's where she got it and I'm equally sure it's completely unlicensed) that says KEEP CALM AND SING "SOFT KITTY."

To go along with the sign, DD got me a Big Bang Theory trivia game.

I expected nothing this year, and have had such wonderful things.

Firstly, the thing that means most to me is a card my daughter gave me. I have had to support her though some pretty awful things the last 3 years. She penned such a wonderful note to me in that card that I cried when I read it. That was PRICELESS to me, and that note will be with me long after the other things I received wear out!

To return to material gifts though: I received an iPhone 5- my first iPhone and I am in love with it. I also received a wonderful handbag from my oldest son, a craft laptop tray, diary and beautiful china mug from my daughter ( I broke my favourite , oversized and hard to find mug just before Christmas. She tracked down a replacement!).

I also received a gift card from my I in-laws: I went to the sales yesterday and found some boots I had returned in November as I felt they were too expensive. I got them less than half price and with the gift card, so it was a double bonus for me! I also received oth things like DVD book, nail care kit and smellies. I feel totally spoilt!

It's not the passage of time that heals. It's what you do with that time.

I was very grateful to have a great day with my kids and hubby.

My 15 yo dd bought me a Mom necklace and did the box within a box time 5 gag. It was fun.

Dh gave me a Keurig, K cup holder, and boxes of K cups. And I don't mind one bit that he'll get to use it, too.

I got a new paddle for my kitchen aid that scrapes the side of the bowl while it mixes, a waffle iron, a slap chop (I cut my finger badly prior to Christmas an while it seems a little strange, I really like it), an automatic spice rack, some new spatulas, a gift card to Joann's so I can take cake decorating classes and some other stuff I can't remember.

In the past, I've really been against practical gifts, but I've finally embraced that I love cooking and new/upgraded things for the kitchen is a great gift for me.
