Does anyone else have trouble writing down the "story" from their vacation photos. Do I just go with the what, where, when and who or do I try think of something else, trouble is I can't remember what I was thinking at the time or all the information about the places (which I can google if I want detailed history)or do I go with the feeling from looking at the photos. Abit of everything?

I have a hard time jounalling period! I do alot of vacation photos, (sans people) mine are basically landscapes, landmarks, architecture, so for me it works to just let the photo speak for itself. I do slip any memorabilia regarding the place between the sheets and in some cases will make a single journal entry regarding the entire trip rather than each stop along the way. If there is really something significant about the photo (like the time we were in a tree house in Arkansas during the tail end of hurricane Ike) I will journal something like that within the travel album.

I think I'm going to start to carry around a small notebook in my purse to write things down.

I am pretty good at journaling, but with vacation photos, I tend to write down the basics, and then go on the Internet to find out more about the place, if I need to. Assuming I don't have so many photos on the page I need to limit the journaling. |

I love this idea! I was thinking about bringing a small notebook along with me to jot down notes and things I wanted to remember but I might try this instead.
For me it really varies depending on the photo. Sometimes it's just factual information, sometimes there's a story I want to tell, and sometimes I find there's just no journaling needed and the picture speaks for itself. I used to really dread the journaling part of my layouts and would often skip it, but once I realized I didn't *have* to write a novel on each page or do the same type/amount of journaling on each one, it stopped being a chore. |
