As a former 365er who didn't make it through a whole year, I was reflecting back on what I took pictures of and scrapped. I know some of us are having a hard time coming up with what we'll capture. This seems especially challenging to those who feel their life is "boring" and to those who don't have kids, pets or lots of friends and/or family around.

So, here's a New Year's gift for all of you - a list of topics, things, activities to document (especially on the days when it's just plain old life staring us in the face). I welcome submissions and will do my best to add every suggestion to this list as the peas make recommendations. I especially want to hear from those who made it through a year - what did you document?

PL, 365, Day in the Life Topics:
1. Your routine: what you do each and every day (brush teeth, make dinner, etc.); what you do on certain days (take the trash out, pick up the dry cleaning, etc.); what you do weekly (fill the car with gas), monthly (pay bills), quarterly (get teeth cleaned) and annually (pay taxes)
2. Your favorites: movies, TV shows, books, products, days of the week, food, etc.
3. Your family members
4. Your pets
5. Your neighbors
6. Your colleagues
7. Your groups (book club, church, Bunco, etc.)
8. Your possessions (cameras, scrap stuff, vehicles, etc.)
9. Favorite time of day, week, month, year
10. Accomplishments (what you are recognized for, or simply what you manage to do/make/create)
11. Sporting events
12. Community/local events
13. Historical events
14. Weather
15. Mother Nature

OK, who has some to add?

I completed Project 365 in 2009. Some of my favorite photos:

1. People helping me - a girl making my hot dog, my mail carrier, my vet, a guy installing new brake lights, my doctors/pharmacist/gas station attendant. People really LOVED having me take their picture, and were interested in my explanation of Project 365. And since I'm kind of shy, it was good for me, too, to interact with lots of people, especially since I'm retired and get kind of lonely sometimes.

2. Special or favorite meals, cooked by me or at restaurants.

3. Scrapbook orders or kit clubs, items displayed on a chair or table.

4. This sounds bad, but I also took several pictures of car accidents - only of the battered cars, no people! I even took a photo of an overturned police car on the street.

5. News stories - the plane that landed in the Hudson, Obama's inauguration.

6. I took a lot of "filler" photos, the inside of my fridge, knickknacks and keepsakes, clouds, etc. for those days when I couldn't take a picture.

I have a friend who takes beautiful photos everyday, although not officially Project 365 and definitely not Project Life. She is not a scrapper, just a blog sharer. She has no kids, and no spouse, but still finds something everyday. Here's some she's taken:

~Leaves blossoming
~Snow Falling
~Huge Mountains of snow piled in parking lots
~Garbage men (we still have a lot of people here in New England, not just the big dumpsters)
~Lines - especially for big movies, or new products (apple store line)
~Construction - I did this when they were building the new McDonalds near my house. It's neat to see how fast they built it.
~Interesting quirks about her home
~Police Lights/Cars/Emergency Vehicles
~New Babies/Families at her church
~Where she gets her tires rotated. This was neat because she had been going to the same place for awhile, and then it was gone. So she had to get a new place
~A new recipe
~Groceries for the week - you don't notice how the seasons can dictate that. It's be neat to document it once a season
~Workers. She can capture faces in her neighborhood really well
~Gas Prices
~Road Signs when she does road trips.
~Places she eats at, especially on road trips.
~Pretty things: A flag waving in the wind, billowing clouds, Christmas Tree Lots, a leaf that looks like a heart, puddles from fresh rain.

Everyone may think their life is boring, but to someone is fascinating. She's run her blog for 4 or 5 years now, and even sells cards and calendars of her 'mundane' photos.

I did 12 photos on 12/12 and it was a very boring day. I included a picture of my lunch and one of a giant pile of laundry!

I like screenshots, especially if you have an iPhone. The weather app is a great one for this and fits nicely on a 3x4 card.

Pics of the scale if you are t trying to lose weight. ( and you are brave)

Home decor/nicknacks

Your Dvr lineup

Not photos, but filler- quotes from life overheard/he said she said. Quotes like from a book or famous person.

I think if you start making notes of what you are doing several times a day you might find that you will notice more photo opportunities. This project is about capturing your everyday life, capturing moments. So photograph moments!

I'm doing the PL in 2013 for the first time and this is wonderful to get some ideas whenever I get stumped for a photo...great ideas, thanks!

I'll be watching this thread for more ideas, keep it going!

Thanks for doing this..I attempted PL last year but never made it past January on keeping track of things and never put anything together. I really want to try this year and want to get my DD's involved. It helps to see lists and others ideas. I think mine will be more of an overall weekly spread but not daily pics that is just to hard. Thanks again...wish I could add to the list but the only thing I can think of right now is
Driving the kids to and from school
After school activities
Weekend activities
School projects
Volunteering

Some ideas:

screenshot of top Billboard music hits
shot of TV with favorite show on. I got a photo of Oprah's last show.
a shot of a same item in different seasons, such as a tree ... you can really see the changes
medicine (when one of my girls got pneumonia I took a shot of the Z-pack)
grocery prices at different times of the year
odometer readings
to-do list

The lists are amazing ladies!!! I think I will finally make an inspiration jar and add these as well even though I'm not a project lifer! Question though...do you all print your pictures for PL at home or weekly at store? I have not tried PL thinking that alone would be overwhelming.

Warning - long list!
I've just finished my third year of PL. I always take a photo of events in my life, so it’s not just photos of my lunch – eg whenever I go out with friends or family, entertain, go to concerts, weddings, birthdays, travel – the obvious. I pick my favourite photo from each day of vacation, for example. These fill a lot of it. I always take a photo of family members on their birthday, even the cat. I take a few photos at work - there's always interesting stuff going on there. These are some of the things I’ve taken apart from events:

• the first Christmas card to arrive (and the stamp)
• what I’m wrapping gifts in this year
• good medical exam result
• workout summary on the crosstrainer
• current favourite song on the iPod
• current laptop wallpaper
• a page I like from the wall calendar
• picture of a favourite author on the day she died
• before and after clean up projects
• newspaper headlines
• iPhone weather printouts when it’s atypical
• my new glasses
• My husband’s first letter using ‘Dr’ as his title
• facebook statuses
• favourite text messages - this is my favourite.
• picture of our house on the first day of every season
• side-by-side new and old passports
• some new things I buy
• presents I’m given
• Things I throw out that I’m a bit sentimental about
• The currency we bought in advance for an overseas trip
• Every bunch of flowers I’m ever given
• Screenshots of iCal
• Completing a project I put off – eg all the ironing finally done!
• List of what we’ve recorded on IQ (like Tivo)
• Inside of the closet when we’ve moved from summer to winter clothes
• What’s in my bag at the moment
• What’s on the nightstand
• What we throw out in cleanups – always interesting to trace your furniture’s lifespan!
• Favourite plants blossoming in spring
• Things I cook that turn out well
• My haul on a big shopping day
• Inside the supermarket cart
• Covers of favourite DVDs
• Funny things – eg terrible misspellings, graffiti, bumper stickers
• The historic moment when I completely cleared my work emails!
• All out tech stuff laid out – iPads, iPhones, GPS, kindle, Ipod, laptop etc
• Sitting in the hairdresser with colour all over my head
• The census form
• The place where my husband and I met 33 years ago – we just happened to be passing
• Inside the fridge, pantry, linen closet
• Flowers at the Apple store when Steve Jobs died
• I do some retro things – eg a photo of our house the day we moved in on the anniversary of the move
• Different looking skies, rain, storms
And I include bits of stuff, like shopping lists, to do lists, business cards, menus from favourite restaurants, invitations, thank you cards, etc.
I'm up for the 4th year - every year I say "enough", but then I look through the old ones, and we really enjoy them.

we also got a new roof and I took pics of that
we have a garden and I took pics throughout the growing process and of our harvest.

Wow, great lists!

I will attempt to create categories (everyday routines, special moments, etc.) and will add every suggestion to the list. I'll then repost the list with all suggestions incorporated (pending a written ok to use the suggestions from those who shared blog posts on this topic and provided links).

See, there's no shortage of things to scrap about!

Maryland, I'll be creating one long list with categories.

To bookmark a page or thread, simply click on the arrow to the right of the Reply button at the bottom of a thread and a drop down menu will appear-the first choice on that menu is Bookmark. Simply click on that and it will be saved to your bookmarks.

Keep the ideas coming everyone.

Greetings everyone!

No, I didn't forget about this list and my promise to make it into one long list! I still plan to, just have been on the road and very busy with business. Priorities, you know?

I plan to use Excel and to list all suggestions, by category. I will then post it in a DropBox folder so everyone can have access.

I'll let you know whe I have it done, but please keep adding to this thread as I'll update the list from time to time and will include newer submissions.

Thanks to everyone for their ideas!

Thanks, Vickie, for the link to the newseum front pages; I printed the one from the Washington Post for today due to a new Pope being chosen. I think going forward, I am going to start including more "scraps" in my albums, including important events of the day, etc. and this will be helpful.

I'm not actually DOING PL yet but intend to start in June, on my birthday. I will document the year leading up to my 50th birthday.

Just found this list!! Thanks to everyone that's added ideas!

I'm planning to start a Project Life type album including a lot of the ideas listed. I'm also scrapping older pics that I will also include.

We are empty-nesters so I'm always looking for ideas of things to include. I'm planning to include regular scapbook pages as well as some of my photography.

Bumping this up as others may find it useful too!!

Thanks again!!

OK ladies, since I was up late watching HSN's Craft Day featuring Project Life kits last night (and fell asleep on the couch and woke up after only a couple hours of sleep), I decided to work on the Excel spreadsheet I promised you!

First, thanks to everyone who suggested ideas and shared links to blogs where others had shared their ideas. Just one more awesome thing abut this community and crafters in general. We ARE a sharing bunch!

Now, I did not include specific photos to take, memorabilia to save (I would have been here for a year!). I did include a topic area, the categories associated with the topic and sample ideas.

Ex:
Topic:
What you do every day
Category/ies:
Routines, People/Places, Things, Time/History, Accomplishments
Ideas:
Sunrise/Sunset, brush teeth, kiss spouse/kids, make the bed, make coffee, pack lunches, drive kids to school, go to work, exercise, cook dinner, etc.

I will be saving this first version of the list as a PDF and will post it later today (need to proof it one more time after a nap!).

I will post a link to the list here, and will provide links to the resources you all shared where the list is posted. I will also credit those who shared their ideas here. So, if you want credit and want some traffic for your blog/site, please add a post below and provide your name and the link you want me to include. I also plan to share the link to the list through social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest) and will happily share links to contributors' social media accounts if you want me to. Again, add those account links in a post below.

Bottom line: the goal is to make the list available to as many people as possible so we all have a list to refer to when we run out of ideas (or feel our lives are boring and not worthy of documenting! ).

I intend to update this list quarterly, so if you are just seeing this for the first time, please feel free to add more ideas below and they will be incorporated in future versions.

See you in a bit...
