Did you girls picked yours already? I chose HAPPY as my olw (and blogged about it).
I'm not taking Ali's class but it sounded like a cool project. And i'd rather have a word to follow and inspire me for a year than a bunch of meaningless resolutions i NEVER follow!

I took the same approach last year, with the word "stronger" and boy did it inspire me to get things done!

As for this year, I am going with "relaxed". Most of my adult life has been spent in overdrive, trying to compensate for things I couldn't control by going overboard and stressing about things I THOUGHT I could control. I am letting go. I will make myself learn to unwind and just BE. Might even take up yoga.

Happiness looks good on everyone!

Love your word, it sure can be good to let go some time (I'm a freak control, your word could actually help me lol)
Anyway, I've been doing yoga for the last 4 months and I loved it, even though I was terrible at it. Made me feel so good and relaxed every time!

I am having difficulty picking a word... I keep thinking of all kinds of 'resolutions' for 2013, and reading others' words, and I get sidetracked...

I am not a class taker, but I have chosen "contentment" as my word. Last year, my word was dream. At the beginning of the year, I made a few embellishments with this word on it. Since April, I have been art journaling, and it has been clear my word this year should have been "believe." So much of the journaling part of my art journaling comes to that. My first AJ entry I will do in 2013 will be about why I want to make "contentment" my word for the coming year, but we'll see if it stays that word.

I bought the class in 2010 and didn't get around to using it. I decided to use the same format for 2011 and 2012. I plan on using it again for 2013. I like that I can see how my reponses change from year to year depending on the word I choose. This year my word is CHANGE.

I'm taking OLW for the first time and I decided on SHINE. I love the broad application of that word and it encompasses everything I want to achieve in the coming year, from adding more glitter to my LO's to finishing my studies. And there are so many wonderful synonyms I can play with, such as GLISTEN and GLOW.

I have already made a necklace pendant from stamping the word on a metal dog tag and I've added several pieces of bling to that tag so now I really do shine! Literally!

I havent really looked into OLW except what ive seen on here, but the one that popped into my mind straight away is 'TRY'. I have a habit of not doing things because its scary or I might fail and i really want to stop. So i think it's a good word to push myself, and just try things even if they dont work out

Mine is "sense," in all of its multiple meanings. I'm not taking the class, but I'm planning an every-so-often (monthly?) album to document my quest to be more intuitive, to notice the things which might otherwise pass me by.

I like this. I did this last year because I have tried resolutions and they just never work.My word last year was Change. And boy did that happen. Everything in my life changed from my address to my job. The only things that are the same is my hubby to be and my kids. OUr life change was not by choice. So this year is PROGRESS. I want things to improve change so we are back to normal by this time next year.

My word this year is RELEASE. Release the negativity and unforward movement. I need to free myself from the bad feelings and hinderances in my everyday. This will take some heavy effort since I have family outside my immediate household and a very stressful job that effect too much of my life.

I'm not taking the class.

EllenPea - My word this year was "contentment" and it's a good word. I found myself focusing on it, on the idea of simplifying my life and being content with what I have and I can honestly say I'm more at ease inside myself now. Good luck with your word!

This is my first year actually participating and my word is "choose". I want to make sure that the things I choose to say yes to, commit to, and spend my time doing are meaningful and worthwhile. I have a 9 month old little girl and it June we will be having another baby so I want to really make 2013 meaningful and not rushed and busy like this year has been!

I don't think I will be taking the class but I am creating a small mini book of just prompts and reflections as I get to it. Nothing fancy.

I think my word is going to be MINDFUL. (of time, of food, of exercise, etc.)

I have enrolled in Ali's class two times and have never followed through with the prompts, etc. but you have unlimited access to the classes, so maybe, just maybe, I will go back and do them with 2013's word.

I've never taken the class and probably won't. What I'm gonna do is set up monthly objectives concerning different area of my life that could help me boost my happiness (happy is my olw) and document them through PL.
For instance January will be Energy month and I'll set goals such as do yoga, eat more veggies, use the stairs... things that on the long term will help me be happier.

2013 will be a catch up year, then when I get "caught up" I'll Sign up for the class then.
My word was/is Shine.

Tpgirl, I also chose create with the same thought in mind. I have been struggling for years with different things such as weight, thinking I need to be in a box, a less descriptive word for how I feel I should "be" and relationships not being what they should be. I CAN create my own life and how I want it to be!

Ok, enough of the emotional blah blah. Still deciding on taking this year's class sine I didn't finish last year. Maybe just use 2012 prompts!.

I'm not taking the class, but I thought it would be fun to come up with a word. I've chosen MOTIVATE. I need that in all areas of my life, both personal and professional. I always think about things I should be doing - so this year I hope to MOTIVATE and get them done. Actually, maybe my word should be EXECUTE, or a combination of both LOL.

I took the class last year & loved it. I've already the-printed the prompts to use again this year.

My word for 2013 is "breathe". We have a lot of craziness coming up this year (our first baby, SO in school, running my business & planning our wedding in Sept)-- I think a regular reminder to breathe will be a very good thing.

Signed up for 2012 and my word was "fresh" and that word definitely helped me get through all the changes in 2012 - as in fresh start. I have completed the projects up through October (still need to do the decorative part), listened to November's prompt but have yet to do it and have not yet even listened to December 2012.

I will most likely do this again for 2013, although my word has not come to me. I don't know if I will sign up for the 2013 class or just follow the 2012 class prompts yet.

I have been thinking about the word "define" - because after making such drastic change in 2012 (gave up my job and home, packing up and moving away), I really need to define myself and get out of the slump I am in due to that move.

Another word that I have thought about is "time", because if I had more time to myself to do things I would like and have a little bit of space, even if it is just one day a month, I might be a little happier.

Years ago AE had this on her blog:

Embrace this right now life while it's dripping;
while flavors are excellently woesome.
Take your bites with bravery and boldness since the learning and the growing are here in these times, these exact right nows.
Capture these times.
Hold them and kiss them
Because it will soon be very different.
-Jill Scott

And I fell in love with it. Reading everyone's OLW choices made me remember it & now I'm thinking maybe

JUICY would make a good word for 2013...

My word this year is RELEASE.

Great minds think alike! I picked this as my one little word the same day as you! The trick for me is going to be not falling back on old ways. I am so good at letting people back into my life that don't deserve to be there.

Great choices of words, ladies! Good luck to everyone!

I've decided on DO for my olw. I read this quote a few months ago "do what you need to do so you can do what you want to do" and it really resonated with me. I tend to procrastinate and spend my time foolishly. I want to become more focused so that I can use my time in ways that make me and my family happier. I have several mini goals that I'd like to meet to help me keep my word in my mind.

I did sign up for Ali's class last year (2011), but never completed it. I think I may try again this year (2013). But if not, that's okay. I have other projects that I want to focus on more. My word last year was PEACE. I really needed it after several bad years with deaths in the family, poor health, family dramas, etc. It was really weird; I never told anyone about OLW and the word that I had chosen but I received a few gifts from friends over the course of the year with that word printed or stamped on them. How is that for knowing that I chose the right word (or really state of mindfulness?)

I'm excited to see what I can accomplish this year with my word of DO. Good luck to everyone else!

So for a week I have been thinking of a word. I have never done OLW, and decided that I would do it this year. I am a procrastinator and a worrier. I know a funny combination. So I have decided, my word is going to be Today.
