My scrap area is a huge mess. I need to clear it up. I also have a lot of photos to sort and back up. So I set up an e-mail list with daily organization prompts Mon-Fri for 2013. Every weekday has a theme, like 'clear your desk' or 'organize photos'. 15 minutes a day is all it takes.

Who's with me?

ETA: oh, I forgot to link to the e-mail prompt sign up page. I'm shooting a quick video of my scrap area and I'm going to post it on Youtube. Be warned! The mess in my scrap area is upsetting! lol! Here's the link.

I am sort of doing that this weekend. My scrap room just complete a few weeks ago, and I am trying to give evrything a home, meanwhile sorting photos, completing layouts with photos I find as I go. Here is hoping to a productive weekend.

I find everything easier about scrapping when it is all organized! I love how it looks and it makes me get to work! That being said, I do love to reorganize and just have a day here and there where I clean and straighten everything! Good luck!!

Me!!!! I'd love to get my huge backlog of photos printed this year. Maybe since I won't be spending as much on buying new supplies, I can focus on that.

I'm in. I just purged, which I thought I'd NEVER do, everything yesterday. And, I cleaned up my scrapbooking storage area. Today I'm working on my desk.

And, as of the first day of 2013, I'm on a self imposed spending freeze. I've spent way too much money on scrapbooking stuff this year, and the 25% off coupon here didn't help, either. My goal for 2013 is to use as much of my stash, and make as many pages, as possible.

Right now I am working on a way to organize photos. I am always reworking this in my tiny space. I need to label some drawers and purge a few things. (Some rubber stamps, papers, embellishments and adhesives that I am never going to use again.)

We just moved so I took that opportunity to purge and reorganize my new space. I still have more I can do though. I need to organize greeting cards that I've saved and print more photos, etc.

Great idea! I'm working on organizing my digital photos today. It definitely won't get all done today, since I currently have over 6,000 photos! But it's progress since I started last night with over 7,300!

I'm going to try to organize photos weekly so they don't get this bad again!

I also want to get my scrap room to the best it can be in 2013. Scrappy storage can be expensive, so slowly I want to get an expedite and other items so by the end of the year it's exactly what I want.

I absolutely must do this too! I've been in a funk about scrapping because I'm trying to create a memorial album for my niece's baby boy who passed away when he was three days old. His far too few pictures sit on my scrap table making me cry every time I go in the room. . However, I feel like I need to finish it (the second anniversary is in January) before I do any fun scrapping.

Hi Margareta! I was forced to do this because I moved! Even though I haven't scrapped since August, I have set up and then reorganized and rearranged my area three times. I think I have it now in a way that will work for me and I have purged probably half of what I own.

It is such a great feeling to scrap in a clean and organized space, it will be so worth it!

Ah...yes, I am actively in the midst of doing the purging and organizing with everything in the scrap room.

I cleared most of the room out into the spare bedroom and now slowly bringing back and labeling everything!!

I will be having a craft/crop on Jan 26, so everything must be in tip top shape.

I seem to do a little bit everyday and gathering supplies to give away as grab bags and make and takes.

It will be so great to have it all organized and having the space to work in.

My room itself is not too bad but I probably do need to sort and purge. But my photos are just all over the place in boxes, on the computer and all mixed up. I also want to scan my negatives and sort those. And throw out all the blurry or duplicate photos I have taking up space!

I will need to remove a pile of stuff in the middle of the scraproom that accumulated in the weeks prior to my two-week vacation that ends Jan. 2. Then I'll be organizing some photos. There's an Organization Challenge that I think is just taking a break for the holidays, and photos is where I left off.

My scrap space is not far off from yours. Except mine looks like yours that took a turn for the worse.

I would love to join in! I did try the wookiemouse organization last year and failed miserably. I couldn't keep up. But a little time to work on it daily does work better for me. It's similar to The Fly Lady's method, if you've ever read/tried her cleaning system.

I'm thrilled that so many of you will join me on this organizing journey. We're going to have so much fun - and find so many things we forgot that we had in our stashes LOL! - and have very pretty and organized scrap spaces for next New Year's.

But a little time to work on it daily does work better for me. It's similar to The Fly Lady's method, if you've ever read/tried her cleaning system.

Yes, I have! I love FlyLady and her motto: 'You can do anything for 15 minutes.' and that it don't have to be perfect! That's why I think that we can get our scrap spaces organized in just 15 minutes a day if we do it for a year. I'll probably spend more than 15 minutes some days and less on other days, but I love the idea that you can get results over time, just by setting up a daily routine.

Just watched your video. Loved it! If you makes you feel any better, though, my space closely resembles yours - except that it is in my dining room!

I do not have a dedicated scrap room and thus the dining room table becomes my scrap table, and along with it all of it's mess, in full glory, for all who enter to see, lol.

My goal is to get it under control & cleverly stored/disguised this year.

Will sign up for your e-mail prompts right away!

Thanks!

I signed up. Thanks for organizing this Margareta.

A couple of things:

1.) Is there going to be organization of digital photos prompts?

2.) How about a message board/forum or daily thread here for those on the e-mail list to encourage each other.

Thanks Again!

Oh, yes! The first photo prompt went out this morning. I'm setting up an archive page for the prompts today, so you can read the prompts you've missed if you want to. I think it's a good idea since two prompts already went out but there are still new people signing up! I'll send out the URL to the list later today.

I have set up a prompt archive page (you'll find the URL in the prompt mails) and then a Flickr group for gallery and discussion (you have to join the Flickr group to see images and threads). I'd love to see your scrap spaces. Why not post before and after prompt pics? I'm going to post some storage photos later today.

Wish I could join in, but we are moving in a few months and after the move I am having my 3rd child. So at the moment my supplies are just sitting there no being used. I organized my living room area, but I never got around to my closet area which holds not only scrapbooking, but knitting, sewing, and my children's craft supplies. Once I get settled in I plan on giving my new area a fresh start (I hope). Good luck!

Count me in too! I have already signed up for the prompts and did my 15 minutes of cleaning up my desk and wow what a difference it made! This is exactly what I needed. And I really need all the help I can get when it comes to organizing photos. I have several dozen CDs laying here and there with pics on them, several thousand on my laptop, and even more in boxes here and there.
