This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges on 2peas and is a fun place to come chat with other scrappers.

1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. Mark the box for Pokey Peas as you post your layout. Put a link to your layouts on this Pokey Peas Thread for January 2013. (If you don't know how to post a link, leave a note to me on the Pokey Peas Thread or peamail me and I will help you.)

2. This can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items.

3. Please leave praise for others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts.

4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or a dozen. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new Peas.

Please contact me with any questions.

NEW MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!!!

I'm posting this a few hours early, so that I don't have to get up early in the am to post. No big celebrating for us. We've had grandchildren here to play today and we'll probably watch a movie and let the New Year come in without us! We've become "old fuddy-duddies" as DH likes to say!

I've been doing some scrapping today. I'll scan or photograph them tomorrow to post.

ETA: What a funny sentiment in this New Year's message...with 2 typos in it. You'd think it was meant for scrapping.

Welcome, Maribeth, to the new 2013 Pokeys.

Happy New Year!

Welcome Maribeth! (Did I get the spelling right?) I'm Nylene's youngest daughter. I live in Northern California with my husband and two little kids. I'm a stay at home mom so you'd think I could get more scrapping done but... it's a work in progress.

Kelly-can I call you sister now? It sounds like mom has approved your request for "craft daughter" adoption! Welcome to the family. I love all the new crafts you've been trying. I made some crochet flowers with mom a few years ago. It was really fun and easier than I expected. Craft on!

Cindy-how are you feeling these days?

Mom-I haven't done my 2012 scrapbook page yet. Sounds like Tori beat me this year. I look forward to seeing it. And Sam is excited about paper dolls!

I found a couple more silverfish in my house this weekend. Thoroughly grossed out! Looks like the New Year holds a DEEP clean of every closet & cupboard for me.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, MY POKEY PEA FRIENDS!!!!
Welcome, Maribeth!

Well, I did not make my goal of 200 pages this year because I completely stalled out this summer and then scrambled to get four different photobooks done for my family for Christmas. I am happy at all the memories (163 pages) I recorded and think we should all be proud of our scrapping accomplishments!

I hope that you will all be fully blessed in 2013.

Here's the layout I finished tonight:

Happy New Year! I got home from my sisters about 3am and now doing laundry! I wasn't able to get anything done this weekend with being sick. I do have to work today so needed to get it done.

I see some new faces! Welcome!! I hope to check back later.

I would definitely like to join this challenge as well. I need motivation to go into my scrap room and use my stash. I've decided to go on a ban (except for adhesive) and use the massive amounts of paper that I have.

Jana, so glad to see you back. I'm sorry you have been sick! Have you had to take time off work. The surgery floor of our local hospital was short 7 nurses on Sunday, so my friend was called in. 7 on one floor...there is so much sickness right now.

Welcome to Jo and Jackie! We are happy to have new members. Tell us a little about yourselves and join right in.

I finished 2 pages last night, but I need to make some changes on one of them. Here's the other one.

Remember This Day

Hope you all get a chance to do some scrapping today.
Val, how's the move going?

ETA: Leslie, the paper dolls we make are from the cricut cart. I size them at 4" and cut clothes for them. Sam has a composition notebook that she has filled with them. She writes down what she named them, what they like, etc. She even made the last page a "closet" so she could keep the extra clothes there. Unlike our "old style" paper dolls (which I loved, too) she glues the clothes on so she needs a doll for each outfit. It's a great way for me to use up scraps.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FAVORITE PEAS!!!!!

Welcome to Jo and Jackie and Maribeth! So glad to have new faces over here!!!! Can't wait to see all of your creativity her! I'm Cindy aka Troublemaker! I am a wife, mom and grandma! I am retired and scrapbooking is my passion! I like both traditional and digi. I love the dimension and textures of paper scrapping but I also enjoy doing special techniques you can do with digi. I guess I should do hybrid!

I hope to get into my scrap room today! I have a couple of goals for this year! I am already signed up for another digi class-Creative Composites with Jana Morton. That class starts Monday! I will get to learn how to use the filters in photoshop in this class. Also combining blending modes! I am planning on doing a weekly page version of Project Life. I am going to use templates and do it digi so I mainly will drop the photos in! I figure it is a project I can do while sitting in front of the tv in the evenings! I took my first photos this morning!
Then I can concentrate on my paper scrapping the rest of the time! I am behind since my surgery as it was hard to sit up straight but I am doing much better at that now!

Well I need to go back and praise what I missed the past couple days! Hope to be back later today. Have a very fun New Year"s day everyone! Hopefully we can make 3 pages again this month!!!

Oh BTW Bob loved the calendars and so did his friends!!!!!

Hugs, Cindy

Okay my first two layouts of 2013. Inspired by the challenge on the CHATTY PEAS thread. When I make pages of the grand daughters I usually make them in twos so they will each have a page for the memory in their album.

?????How is the best way to reply to questions on comments on projects?????

Nyele had asked what kind of cutter I used on a project I just posted (I have a Pazzles)

and on a previous project post I was asked what inspired the color choice in my new scrap room (I just new I wanted Yellow, and even though there are not alot of accessories I just new I wanted that color)

Let me know what is the best way to respond to questions posted in comments on projects.

Thank you.

Great job on your 2013 layouts, Maribeth. When someone asks me a question about a layout, I look to see if it's a Pokey Pea or Chatty scrapper and then post the answer on those threads. If it's someone I don't know, I usually just send them a peamail. Do whatever works for you. Answering it on the comments of your layout doesn't usually work, because people don't go back to the comments once they've posted.

YAY, my fourth layout for the month. Also fulfills the 3rd requirement in the CHATTY SCRAPPERS thread.

Of course I need to do another one so I have one for each grand daughters album, but I only had one print of the photo so I will need to get that ordered tonight to complete later. But the rest of the page will be done and just ready to pop on the print.

You can view the layout here.

Nylene and Cindy, a lot of people have been sick at work. I got home from work Saturday morning and was fine and woke up vomiting and couldn't stop. Yuck! I feel so much better!! It has worked out that I have been sick on my days off. I get nothing done but I don't have to miss work. They other day they were possibly going to have to cancel surgeries because to many staff was sick in the OR. I work the next 3 nights so I hope they are good!

I am gong to do project life and have signed up for a class at Studio Calico called Day by Day. It looks like it has lots of good content to get me started! I just wish I could spend time going through the class today and getting my stuff together!

I could nap for another hour before getting up for work. I just feed my furbabies so they will curl up with me.

I would love to join this challenge. My scrappy goal this year is a page a week so maybe this will help my motivation.

I am Angela, wife, mom to 3 and grandma to 5 with number 6 due in June. I live in South MS, not exactly a hotbed for scrapers so my online scrappy buddies are the best.

Thanks for the challenge....

Happy New Year!

We are all at home and relaxing today... although I'm "technically" working on lesson plans for next week, it's still relaxing nonetheless. I'm just so proud of myself for not waiting until Sunday afternoon to begin. That especially makes for a depressing day.

Angie: I've been away from TwoPeas for 10 months so I missed your being Nylene's daughter! How cool is that?! It's a pleasure to "meet" you!
BTW, what are silverfish? And am I to understand that Sam is your dd?
I recall your mom creating los featuring her - she is precious!

Cindy: Where did you learn about the digi classes? I look forward to seeing the new techniques you'll include in your los.

Jana: I'm sorry you've been sick. The week before school was out for Christmas a number of my kiddos (first graders) missed a number of days with a virus we had circulating all around. I'm so grateful I was able to steer clear! Take care and REST!

Maribeth: Slow down, I can't keep up! Do your dgc live close by? My sister is now a grandmother and my dh just became a grandad for the second time last week. Our children are still teens so I don't expect to be a grandmother for sometime to come.

Linda: Are you staying at home today? Any snow on the ground? It's raining here... again. As much as I love the rain (especially when I'm home) it's nice to have sunny days, too!

Valerie and Kelly: Where are you two? (That's easy for me to say since I did disappear for 10 months!) Actually... I was quite busy building an "online" store of digital activities I create to sell on teacherspayteachers.com. I just hope I can continue to frequent TwoPeas and create my projects for TPT, too... all when I return to school.

Welcome new friends!

Will close for now. It's mid-afternoon here and I need to start thinking about what I'm going to cook for supper!

Leslie - Yes my grand daughters live nearby. About 28 miles is all. They are great photo subjects right now, always willing to pose for a pick.

And I will be slowing down for today as I have run out of prints on hand in which to scrap. I usually create the pages viewing my prints in my photo storage program, and then order them, but for completing the challenges it looks like I may need to change that and be sure I have some prints on hand. I will have to see how that works for me.

Good Evening all! I am back to post my first layout of the year!!!! A paper one also!

Angela welcome to the group! We are pretty laid back and always glad to have new members! This is my scrappy home-Nylene was my first Pokey Pea friend and I love it here. I usually do more then four layouts but have been recouperating from surgery but I an getting back into the swing of things!

Leslie-I have been taking my classes At Creative Passions. You can find it HERE I love these classes as you see their screen as if you were looking over there shoulder and you can stop & start the video.

Jana-glad you are feeling better and that you did not have to call off. Sounds like a bad tummy virus going around. I am going to try PL also but I am going to do it digi. Can't wait to see your pages! Have you been to SG recently???

Well here is my layout for today-

Angela, this really made me laugh:

not exactly a hotbed for scrapers so my online scrappy buddies are the best.

Welcome to the thread and make yourself at home. Do your grandchildren live close to you. Being a grandma is the best thing in life. I get withdrawal if I don't see one of them for 5-6 days.

Maribeth, sounds like you love being a grandma too. It's our reward for growing old and having aches and pains, I think.

Linda, do you have anything fun going on today?

Jana, I'm glad you haven't had to miss work. Utah is the #1 flu state right now. I really don't want to get it. The stomach virus went all through our neighborhood, but it was while DH was so sick and we didn't leave the house so we avoided it. Hope you are back to tiptop condition soon. Good luck on your PLife. Val has done some beautiful pages with hers.

Cindy, I love seeing your paper scrapping. Makes it easier for me to scraplift it! But you know I love your digi work too. I have signed up for a class from Kerri Bradford called the History Project. It's an all year class, so I hope I can keep the enthusiasm.

I finished a page. I don't think I really like it, and have messed with it too long, but it's finished and is in the album! Sometimes it helps to just get away from it for a while.

Be Amazing Be You

Hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Sorry I've been MIA...

I am flitting from one thing to another without actually achieving anything. I have tons of stuff flying round my brain all the time, and I am just wishing I could just dump it all so I can relax a bit.
Sarah...THIS IS ME!! I'm sure once we move and get settled (not sure how long that will take) I'll be fine. Just tons of things going on. I was telling dh that there's SO much I want to do and SO much I need to do, it's just a bit overwhelming.

Last night we went to the neighbors to eat and play games until midnight. You'd laugh, dh has been "practicing" for 2 nights staying up late. We're really old fuddy duddies to be honest. After the ball dropped, we walked home and were in bed by 12:15 .

I want to welcome all the new faces I see. I'm Val and I've been a Pokey for a couple years now. I work part time as a secretary to a real estate agent and his son. I also volunteer at my grandson's 1st grade once a week and at the assisted living in my area twice a week. I have 3 kids and 2 grands. My dd is getting married in May. DH and I are moving to a neighboring city after living in this house for 26 years and I've got 26 years of "stuff" we're trying to pack. We get the keys to our new home on the 11th. Right now things are a little stressful here. I still have some of my scrap room stuff though. I'm not going to pack my PL stuff or my little PictureMate Charm printer.
Well, I could go on and on.

Jana, I'm so sorry you got the bug. My sister is in NYC with FEMA and she got it. I hope you're feeling better.
I bought the Clementine Album for my 2013 Project Life. I'm going to use some of my stuff from last year which was the Amber kit and then I went in halves with a friend who bought the Cherry kit and we split it. If you have a scrapbook store close, I used A LOT of the sticker sheets and journaling cards from Simple Stories. Their stuff goes great with PL.

Angela, my family is from MS. In fact, my brother lives in D'Iberville and my step dad is in Pass Christian. Small world huh?

Nylene, that page "Be Amazing Be You" is wonderful! We're our own worst critics aren't we?

Cindy, I love your holiday baking layouts! Looks like you all had a wonderful time. When I walked into our new kitchen for the first time I immediately thought the island would be perfect for holiday baking with the grands...I can't wait

Leslie, you sound so busy and you started an online store for teachers? How cool is that?? You are so talented!

Kelly, I love looking at all your new craft endeavors.

Well, I've got to run. Waiving hi to everyone and I hope to be back soon. I did finally finish December's PL and I posted it on my blog. It's just mainly pictures but I wanted to put 2012 behind me and start with the new year! you all!!

Happy New Year Ladies,

Val..You need to take one day at a time one box at a time or you will go crazy. Moving after so many years has to be overwhelming. Good luck and hope your move is easy.

Angela..My friends think is a waste of time to scrap, they rather be out in the malls or at a restaurant, take the kids, leave me home to scrap is what I tell them.

Cindy..I'm going to check out those classes I really want to learn more on digi scrapping.

Jana..I have had a cold for over a month, it goes away and comes back without a warning. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Waiving hello to everyone else.

Happy New Year Pokey Peas! Don't know if anybody's around who remembers me--its been a long time since I've been here. It seems like any time I start to get active on the boards again life goes to heck in a handbasket! My last several months have been spent in caretaker mode as my parents went through some very difficult times. After a few rough months, my sweet dad passed away just before school started this fall, and my focus since then has been helping my mom adjust to her "new normal." Hopefully I'm not jinxing myself by posting again. Things seem to be on an even keel right now (knock on wood!) and I hope to indulge a bit in my favorite hobby.

I'll have to look back on the posts so far this month to see who's around and how everyone is doing, but I just wanted to say hello!

Thank you all for the welcome!! I guess I can say a little about myself...I have been married to my husband for 6 years and we have 2 awesome kids...Ursula (3yrs) and Christian (18m). I have been scrapbooking since 2004? and love it. I'm blessed to have my own room but find myself not using it like I should. I plan on changing that this year tho! I started the year off right and went in there last night to straighten up and finish a few layouts that were just sitting there. Some just need a title or journaling and I'm determined to finish those all this week so that I can focus on the other stuff. So glad I found this thread!

Happy New Years!!!! My dh and I got away for a few days here in the beautiful Orange County. We love going to the Embassy Suites and being spoiled there with the lovely surroundings and great breakfasts. We got back yesterday and Lord knows we needed this get away! We had fun at the fabulous Fashion Island mall. They had the tallest Christmas tree I have ever seen. Amazing! So it was a restful time and hope to share some of the pics soon. Can you believe I want to scrapbook them????

Jo, Jackie, Angela- WELCOME! I am Kelly, married, love making cards and playing around with other crafts. Lately, I have been in the discovery mood. So I have been trying crocheting, baking and jewelry making. I also like to draw, paint, scrapbook (on occassion) and other crafts. Look foward to see you around here.

Leah- Sure, I remember you! Our resident photographer! Sorry to hear of the tough times you and your family went through but I hope live continues to settle down for you. Welcome back and look forward to seeing more of you.

Angie & Nylene- I am honored to be an honorary adopted daughter!!!

Leslie- I am here! LOL! So glad to see you hanging with us. The website sounds interesting. What will it be selling or offering? Glad you are having fun with it. When do you return to work?

Cindy- I knew those calendars would be a hit. You did a great job on them. ALso, thanks for the kind words on my blog.

Jana- Glad to see you too. Hope you are feeling much better today.

Wow ladies we are almost to page two and it is only the second day of the month!!!! LOL!!! Go Pokeys!!!!!! Just stopped by to say HI to one and all and it has been nice seeing so many of us start the New Year by visiting the site! No scrapping today yet but I have been thinking how I want to do my pages for the PL. Like page design and colors etc. How to make things complicated is to think too much about it!

Kelly Linda, Ami and Val so nice seeing you girls! a big Hi! to our new Pokey's also.

Kelly- Did you see my team fired the head coach and gm -but hopefully they will pick the right guy for the job. We have some very good young players now we need to add the veterans to add the finese! I was not happy with our head coach anyway. I think the job was too big for him. Ok enough about football!

BBL!

Well I finally got some of my drawing posted to my blog. I did a while ago and wanted to share them. Take a peak. Hat Ladies I am still drawing these days. I have been trying landscapes, faces and whatever comes to mind. I will share more soon.

Cindy- Yeah, I heard about all the fired coaches. Wow! I think I remember my dh telling me that the Brown's coach got put out. But I didn't know the GM too. I was so focused on my hubby's Eagles coach, Chicago and San Diego. Well, I wonder where they will all turn up next season? There is a lot drama going on and i do like it.

Kelly we also have a new owner, and I guess if you pay over a billion dollars for a team you want your own people in there! All the coaches and players knew since August that they were working and playing for their jobs! I am so lovin this new owner-he wants a winning team and he will spend the money and time to get their. He owns the Pilot gas station chain.

Feeling a bit on the pokey side lately myself, but when the mojo reves up I'll start producing again. Mostly for me it's having photos to scrap and I don't have many right now. Definitely goes in spurts though. Been reading this thread a bit and just wanted to drop in occassionally. But you will find me more frequently on Chatty Scrappers' thread. Feel free to drop in there too...no requirement for LO production quotas.

I'm Debi, a single mom of twin teenage boys. I digi scrap when I can. I love looking at everyone's projects and these threads are awesome for letting you get to know a bit more about each other. I hope to be able to drop in more frequently/ It's nice to have a community on line.

Happy New Year Pokeys!!

Welcome to all our new gals - I am Sarah, a transplanted British Pea currently living in Florida We are only here for a few years, so trying to make the most of it I have 2 kids aged 10 and 13. I like to scrap, knit, make cards and generally dabble in all things crafty.

Leah, I'm so sorry for your loss. Sounds like you had a rough end to 2012, I hope that 2013 is better for you and your family

Cindy, I thought of you when I heard about the Browns. 7 coaches lost their jobs on Monday. The Jaguars fired their GM, I am surprised not more were given the boot after our atrocious season. But obviously the owner has faith in the coach...

Kelly, your getaway sounded lovely. Cannot wait to see the photos

Valerie, do not envy you right now. I know why they say that moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do... Just keep picturing yourself baking with the grands at the kitchen island, and it'll be just fine

We've had a lazy start to the year. We spent New Years Eve with friends, playing on the kinect which was so much fun. We watched the ball drop, and then went outside to see the crazy neighbours letting off fireworks in the street... We then found the London firework display on You tube and watched that - it was amazing! We got home around 1.30 am, so we have been recovering ever since! We did go out yesterday for a walk along the beach, and then lunch at my favourite deli after. Saturday we are going on an amazing adventure - we are going to go swimming with manatees

Good morning everybody! Just hopped on to check out what you've been posting so far, but I seem to be having gallery issues--hope things start to behave soon.
Still working on cleaning my scraproom, but I've made lots of progress. Most of my scrap surfaces are clean and workable, just need to get my sewing corner organized. My old Bernina got struck by lightning over a year ago and I just now replaced it. Now I need to clear a spot to set it up and relearn how to sew!

Happy Thursday! It is a sunny and chilly day in So Cal today. I hope to get out and get some of that vitamin D sun. Last night, we took our tree down and I am glad to get back to normal. Also, I was working on a mini I made last year but finally added some pics and journaling to it. I am looking forward to some scrapbooking today. I got lots of Christmas pp leftover and hope to put a dent into it.

Nylene- This is for you my friend! For Nylene I know you would like seeing these Palms. I took these pics on New Years Eve near the mall. There were lots of these trees around too.

Cindy- That is a lot of changes. I hope they have a great year next season.

Diana- Thanks! I starting drawing out of the blue back in the Fall and surprised myself with a true passion and interest in drawing. So fun!

Debi- Welcome! We would love to have you drop in and visit with us as much as you like. I am Kelly, married, and love to make cards and other crafts.

Sarah- Wow! You did have a fun New Years. Your neigborhood sounds like a great place to live and raise your family.

Waving hi to everyone else. Have a nice day!

Leah, it's so nice to see your face pop up. I'm so glad to have you back. I remember that REAL LIFE made it impossible for you to do much scrapping the last time you posted. I'm sorry for your loss. Hope you can join in scrapping and chatting. Your sewing machine was hit by lightning???? How terrible.

Jackie, post the pages as you finish them. We don't care if they were mostly finished earlier. Sounds like you have your hands full with little ones. Enjoy this time, they grow so fast.

Kelly, let's see some pages about your Orange County adventure. I love Embassy Suites, too. We stayed there in Orlando when I got to meet Diana several years ago. I love your hat ladies. I tried to post on your blog from my ipad, but it wouldn't work. I'll have to see what I was doing wrong. Thanks for the palm tree photo. Wish they could grow here.

Cindy, good luck on your Project Life. I know it will be wonderful. Will it be paper or digi or hybrid?

Welcome, Debi! I've been telling my dd, Angie, about the wonderful things you do with digi! Come by often and share your work.

Amy, you may not have reached your 2012 scrapping goal, but you should be very proud of how very much you accomplished. Wow! I'd be in 2nd heaven!

Sarah, swimming with manatees? We want pictures and pages!

I'm sure I'm missing things. Waving hi to all of you.

I spent part of the day scrapping yesterday and part of the day tending baby Alex and playing with my granddaughters. This is the page I finished:

Unique

So fun to see all of you stopping by to chat. Keep up the good work.

Well, the hubby is back to work and I've just about finished cleaning and reorganizing the closets. I'm hoping that means I can start scrapping again.

Leslie- Silverfish are creepy insects that love dark damp places. They come out at night to eat crumbs, books, clothes...even shampoo. They can live a LONG time without food or water so they're hard to ge rid of. I've only seen a few so I think we don't have a big infestation yet but they're yucky all the same. I guess they are common with apartment living in a damp climate.

Next time I post...I hope i have a page!

Happy Friday everyone!

Nylene--thanks for the warm welcome back. The last year presented so many challenges, but also gave us many opportunities to see how good God is to us! As for the sewing machine, it was just one of many things that got zapped (very grateful for insurance!). It wasn't even a direct hit, but it got lots of our electronics even with whole-house surge protection and individual surge protectors on nearly everything. We were just so grateful that there was no fire--In the past year, two of my daughter's classmates have lost their homes to lightning fires.

Angie--congrats on completing your cleaning and organizing. Still in the midst of it here, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Hope you're silverfish issue is taken care of. I know that aren't dangerous or anything, but there's the whole "ick" factor to deal with!!

Must run--hoping to take the family bowling over on campus while most of the students are still gone. So much more fun without the crowds!

Happy Friday! I hope you are all having a good one. Last night I was deep in working on my layouts. It felt so good to being doing this after such a long time. Can't wait to see how they turn out. So today will be a craft day with more work on the layouts and some other things.
Also, thanks for the praise on my drawings I posted on my blog. I had fun drawing those ladies and want to keep expanding my abilities. Yippy!

Nylene- Thanks for the cheers! I am plugging away! I am glad you were able to post on my blog. Love those drawings. The 2nd lady is my fav. Also, glad you like the palm trees. Aren't they beautiful? They are a perfect tree for that fabulous Fashion Island mall. Just love going there!

Angie- Sis!!! Well, now we don't have to share the computer for a while. My dh went back to work too and now I get to use the computer as much as I want. LOL! Sounds like you are getting back to normal. I was ready for regular life to return after all the holidays and a trip.

I can't believe I'm back already! And I come with a page, as promised.

I don't love it. I started fiddling with it before the holidays so I'm tired of looking at it. It is a super simple page but I was playing around with some digi tricks: Masks and whatever you call it when you cut around a photo and fade it out. For me these are new tricks (of which I don't know the name)...to many of you, it's everyday skills.
Cindy--I don't think I've ever cut around a photo but you inspired me to try it on this page. Maybe I should look into that class you took so I learn how it is really done. Thanks for inspiring me to try new techniques.

Meeting Mickey

Leah--good luck with your cleaning. I didn't accomplish as much as I wanted but at some pointed you have to say "finished" and shove the remaining stuff back in the closet, close your eyes and pretend it's not there for awhile.

Kelly--I can't wait to see the layouts you are working on, Sis! Truly love the husbands but isn't it amazing what you can get done without them around?

Off to clean the mess that has kept the kids occupied while I enjoyed scraptime.

Well as luck would have I had a very long post and forgot to save it. Well, it's circling around in cyber space somewhere looking for a home.

First - I want to WELCOME all of the new members. I'm Linda, and I'm a retired college professor. I am also a widow of 1 1/2 years now. It gives me more time to play in my scrap room. I'm also the resident night owl.
I've known Nylene through Calendar Girls thread for about 5 years. I actually got to meet her in person in 2010 at Scrapfest at the Mall of America. Nylene is one of the nicest women I've ever known.

Kelly - Your drawings are fabulous. I love ladies with hats.

Cindy & Val - Good luck on Project Life.

Sarah - Hope you've recovered from New Year's Eve.

Cindy - Hope your team goes all the way.

Diana - I'm glad you're posting both places.

Amy - It's so good to see you go out of your box and expand your horizons as far as your scrapping goes.

Beffie - No significant amount of snow. It's weird, but I like cold weather.

Jana - Hope you're feeling better.

Maribeth - You on a roll. You go girl.

If I missed anyone I'm sorry. Hope you all have a great evening.

Hello, everyone! Happy New Year! Wow, I've been gone for a couple months and there are a ton of new faces.

Welcome! I'm Anne and located in Southern California. It's just my husband (we've been married 15 years), our dog Brady, and our two cats Casey and Bessie. We don't have any children but hoping that may change through adoption. Just an FYI - I'm probably the pokiest of all the peas (in projects and posting to this forum).

Sorry I've been away but we've had a challenging couple of months. We got an IRS tax bill notice, needed some pretty expensive car repairs, shower/plumbing issue and I needed an unexpected surgery. Luckily that is all past us and we can focus on the the new year.

I'm sure I will miss most of you in this post since it is 2:20 in the morning but here goes:

Nylene & Angie - how do I get adopted into your craft family? Here are some considerations: I like to craft and I love Disney!

Maribeth - welcome and seriously, can you please slow down? You're going to make me look REALLY bad. lol

Amy - 200 pages! Wow, is that considered a pokey goal because my goal was 48 and I didn't even meet that. hee hee! I have been loving all your layouts last year. You should be proud! Beautiful work!

Monica & Jackie - welcome! Hope you can bust through your stash and get some scrapbooking/crafting completed this 2013! That's my goal as well. I'm excited about some of the new classes 2peas will be offering. Looks like they're right up our alley.

Jana - I want to do PL too. I bought the stuff and fully intended to do it last year but mission was not accomplished. You are so lucky! I just found out about the Studio Calico PL class while browsing on the web earlier today. Would have loved to have signed up and gotten that stamp set. But being pokey does have it's disadvantages sometimes. You'll have to post your projects so I can live vicariously.

Cindy - Hello, my friend! How is the new year treating you? Sounds like you're still recuperating. Hope you will be fully recovered soon. Btw, I'm not a big sports fan so I had a hard time following your post. What team/sport was it?

Linda - Hi there! You've already inspired me. I saw your post where you bolded everyone's names. I loved it so much I'm doing it right now. Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I know it wasn't recent but even so, it must have been devastating. On a lighter note, you mentioned you're a retired professor. I'm wondering what subject you taught? That must be interesting. I get to do some corporate training from time to time and I really enjoy it.

Leslie - Nice to meet you! I think I joined the Pokeys last year (is that right?). We might have missed each other. If you have any easy, yummy, fast recipes - please share! I love to cook at home but I typically get home late. So I like trying to use the crock pot during the week or making roasts and stews on the weekends that we can reheat during the week.

Val - "I am flitting from one thing to another without actually achieving anything. I have tons of stuff flying round my brain all the time, and I am just wishing I could just dump it all so I can relax a bit." Val - this is me too! Hopefully, 2013 will be a year of more productivity. I'm doing Ali Edwards' One Little Word Class again this year and my word is "do." At least I think it is. Anyway, hopefully, I can DO more things this year like get organized, eat healthier, a mini women's triathlon and more scrapbook pages!

Ok, It's nearly 3am and this post is taking longer than I thought. I will have to come back and say hello to you other peas tomorrow.

Good night and happy new year!!

ETA:

Diana - Hello! You are so productive! I can usually only manage one or two layouts in a few days unless I really challenge myself. Great job, you've made some really beautiful layouts! I left you a really long comment on your "night before Christmas" layout.

Leah - I'm so sorry last year was so challenging for you and my condolences on your father passing. What a great daughter you are to help your mom get acclimated to her new life. Btw, when I first read that your sewing machine was struck by lightning, I didn't think you meant literally! I hope your household is on the mend. And although my house wasn't struck by lightning, my scraproom is a MESS (as are other areas of my house). I'm hoping to get more organized this year.

Kelly - hello, my friend! It sounds like you were in my neck of the woods for your getaway vacation albeit it was a little further south. I live in North Orange County but work in Irvine. That's not too far from Fashion Island. I love Embassy Suites (my husband esp enjoys the hospitality hour ). I have been loving your drawings of your ladies - I really like all the feathers in their hats. I haven't been jewelry making in awhile but I love it too. I think the supplies are much more expensive than scrapbooking though. There's a great jewelry supply store in Brea. I think they're still around... I would love to learn to crochet. I tried knitting but I'm a little too type A to enjoy it. I was constantly undoing my knitting so it would be "perfect" and apparently I knit and perl too tightly. I've been doing a lot more cardmaking lately. It's great to have one handy to send to a friend or family member and I think homemade cards are so nice to receive. Plus, have you seen how much a card costs in the store? Ridiculous! I love baking too although these days, I'm doing more cooking than baking. With just me and the hubs, baking is not a good idea. We'll have to swap some recipes.

Debi - nice to meet you! I've seen your lovely photo around here on 2peas. Twin teenage boys - how awesome! But not scrapping because you don't have pictures?? I don't think I'll have that issue. I have an unseemly amount of photos I will probably never ever scrap. Good to see you on our thread. What is Chatty Scrappers? Do you gals just pop in and out to chat on that thread?

Sarah - hi Sarah! I like to dabble in all things crafty too. Pinterest is making it too hard to just scrapbook. I did start my creative love affair with painting and cardmaking after all. It sounds like you and I celebrated similarly across the miles. We went over to our neighbors to welcome in the new year. We played Wii Just Dance 4 (it's so fun!) all night and then watched the ball drop, danced some more and then walked the whopping 2 doors back home. Have fun swimming with the manatees and be sure to share pictures. I would love to see what that's like. I'm a diver and love all things aquatic! When dh and I went to FL years ago, we went swimming with the dolphins at Discovery Cove. That place is amazing!

Ok, I think I'm caught up with everyone. Enjoy your weekend - I'm going to see if I can get some crafting done.

Btw, I made this card for Kimber's last Saturday card sketch of 2012:

thank you card

Hope you all have a wonderful 2013!!

Wow, I leave this thread for a day and you all just keeping it going and going. That's so awesome!

Anne, it sounds like you had a bunch of curves thrown at your family in the last couple of months. Hope you are recovered from your surgery.
The Chatty Scrappers is the thread of the former Calendar Girls. We used to use the DW Calendar for challenges all year...then they quit publishing it and we keep chatting. Pop on over and join the fun if you have time. A few of us post both places. Good luck on your adoption plans. And BTW, I'd be happy to adopt you into our crafting family!

Amy, your layouts are delightful!

Linda, you are too sweet. It was so nice to get to spend time with you at Scrapfest.

Anj, sorry about your silverfish problem! I wish I had an answer for you. You know how I hate bugs. Had to laugh at Sam's fear of Mickey. She's an interesting little gal.

My DH is waiting for me to make a grocery list so we can run to the store. So, I'd better quit typing and make the list. I'll come back later.

Here's one I did last night. I'm like Diana, I haven't scrapped this much in months!

Love

Waving to everyone.

Nylene - I've been adopted - yay!! I remember the Calendar girls! I used to poke around on your challenges and threads back in the day when I was a lurker. I used to love those DW Calendars by Autumn Leaves. I still have all mine. hee hee! Maybe I'll poke my head in over there and say "hello" from time to time.

I'm recovering nicely. Thank you. I'll be back to work on Monday. Have fun at the store, even if it only is for groceries.

My Slice died on me and I'm a little sad since I can't seem to find any assistance on the machine from Making Memories anymore and I barely got any use out of it. Oh well. I'm not going to let it ruin my crafting this weekend! I posted it the forum so maybe somebody will be able to help me out.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
