I'm back.

Charlotte has a cough. And even though she doesn't wake up, or even cry, it is excruciating to lie in this bed and listen to that tiny little thing hack-cough like that. I have the humidifier going. I put menthol rub on her little nose & chest. I don't know what else I can DO!! The poor little thing. There's just no way I'm gonna sleep when she's coughing like.

Since I'm up, I will introduce myself to the new folks...My name is Barbara and I'm a SAHM in Santa Cruz, California. I have two daughters--Julia, 4 ("AND A HALF!" and Charlotte 14 months (almost). My husband and I have been married for 7 years (just celebrated, New Year's Eve) but friends for 21 years. In a previous life I worked in hi tech, then I worked for a scrapbook magazine (the best one ever, IMHO). I've been scrapping since 2003 but only joined "Calendar Girls" in 2011. I'm excited to start a new year, with a new name...and love, love, love my girls here!!

OK, it's been quiet for about 5 minutes. So the debate begins: take advantage and try to get back to sleep...or go in there and make sure she's ok?!?!

Happy Tuesday!

Barb, Tammy broke her hand. She had to have a plate and screws put in.

Tere, I liked the page for you.

Kate, welcome.

Gotta run. Have a great day all.

Slowly getting everyone's names!

Seems like there is a lot of sickness right now. I know my son is staying home today. Headaches, sore throat and very congested. He was up half the night because he was so uncomfortable and as a result I was up, too.
I hope it is not strep because that is going around his school!

Bluna - my 5 year old daughter had a terrible cough and the only thing the pediatrician would recommend to help was giving her honey at bedtime and something warm to drink. It did work a bit though.

Anyway, wanted to share my first layout of 2013 that I posted to the gallery

New Beginnings

Got the first page praised last night. Will try to work on page 2 and maybe 3 today if he is doing ok.

Good morning! I saw the hand therapist yesterday who gave me a smaller, removable cast. at least I can wiggle my fingers now. Today Bobby turns 16 but between school and an away basketball game no time to celebrate so will postpone that to this weekend.

Welcome Kate! I am a huge scraplifting fan!

Kimberly, I wish I could praise from phone too- easier to type on phone!

Debi- Im sure this cold isnt helping the RA. I agree w/Theresa now time to teach them life skills.

Barbara- hope you and girls get better real soon!

Typing by pecking is hard work- they should really teach typing to kids!!

Good morning ladies,

I'm almost caught up here! I just love seeing all the new names/faces.

MICHELLE -- I'm so sorry about what happened to your dad. Imagine being mean enough to take advantage of someone who is already hurting. Greed is a scary thing.

THERESA -- I don't even know what to say about that young girl. I can not imagine her parent's grief. I keep thinking that when they are grown and working and living on their own I will breath a sigh of relief. Clearly not. I don't know if you've seen my FB but our friend's 23 year old son has gone missing. They are absolutely wrecked. All day long I pray that the worst has not happened for them.

OK--both girls awake. FOILED AGAIN!!

Have a great day. I'll try to be back later. Certainly no scrapping for me today. But those challenges look GREAT. *sigh*

WELCOME KATE! Nice to meet you-hope you keep coming.

TERE that website mission is awesome. TFS

BARBARA wow you got a lot accomplished yesterday. Kudos to you for having a clean house. I've forgotten what that feels like. LOL Hmmm, that's 3 on this board that have had major wrist (plates and screws) surgery....what gives?

MARY JO love your first page of the year. I've yet to post one.

TAMMY congrats on getting a smaller and removable cast. that must feel like a big improvement. 16--already? Geesh how time flies. I never thought I'd hear it was easier to type on a phone...they are so small....not easier for me

2nd day of school back from break is always harder than the first. Kids didn't get up with their alarm Inot sure it was set as I can't hear it downstairs-I'm in the guest room currently as I can't manage the stairs to my room) so kids had to hustle to get to school on time. I made them walk this a.m. as it wasn't raining and it's harder and harder for me to move, drive, walk, whatever. I slept ok last night; went to bed really early. But had a horrible dream t his morning. Wonder why?

Back in bed for a bit, but can't stay there. Too many things need attending.

Happy to see Chatty Scrappers is being Chatty. Nice to have all the new faces too. Everyone loves a party.

TODAY I CHALLENGE YOU TO SPREAD A LITTLE LOVE IN THE GALLERY OF YOUR CHOICE...pick 3=5 LOs/cards/projects and leave a quick bit of praise to make someone's day. You don't have to love a project to be able to find something you like about it.

Have a great day. It's great to have so many imaginary friends.

Debi - definitely going to be doing more praising today. So challenge accepted

Tammy - I saw on page 2 that you asked about OLW. I did pick a word this year, and actually made a layout about it that I am going to share tomorrow because I am doing a blog post about it. My word this year is Humor
Trying to make 2013 lighter and just not let the little things bother me. I want to find the humor in everything if possible!

Hey everyone!
Still having some trouble keeping up... I did read through all the chatter, though.

I spent yesterday with a family friend with lupus who is often confined to her home. She really enjoys the company So we knitted & chatted together. It was relaxing!

Today I have a bunch of phone calls to make and "business" to take care of, but hoping to get some scrapping in, too. I have a couple of pages I need to upload.

Debi- That's a good challenge for today! I'll take you up on your challenge.

Tammy- Glad you got a lighter cast. Such a bummer that you won't be able to do much with your arm for a while On a good note, happy birthday to Bobby! Can't believe he's 16. So now he can get his license, right?

Mary Jo- Welcome! Where in Missouri are you? I live in Kansas City, but on the KS side.

Barbara- aww, poor Charlotte And poor mommy, too! Hope she's feeling better soon.

Tere- That sounds like a great organization. I just "liked" their FB page. Hope they reach their goals!

Kate- Hello & welcome to the group! The challenges here definitely inspire me to scrap more. I'm with you - I'm a big scraplifter. But I like to challenge myself to see how different I can make mine from the original!

Sherri- Bummer about having to get a new dryer, but yay for front-loaders! I love our front-loaders. We are quite spoiled by them! I refuse to use my dad's old washer & dryer when I am visiting him. ha!

Leah- Wow, I have never heard of the ABSF, and am amazed that people ski blind! I am partially blind, and I can't even picture myself trying to ski! I am a klutz, though.

okay, be back later to post some layouts!

Evening all.

Tammy, hurray for a removable splint. Wear it most of the time though for protection.

Happy birthday to Bobby and Diana's Mom.

Sherry, hurray for new appliances. They are so much more energy efficient now and it really is cheaper to buy a set than individually in the long run.

Read on FB that Barbara's friend's son is fine. Glad to hear.

Barb hate that Charlotte is coughing. Keep a watch on it, don't want to scare you but whooping cough is making a come back.

Kate count me in on the scraplifting fan list. That was why I posted the BOS Challenge for so many years.

Thanks for the prayers for my friends Tom and Nancy. They're still numb. I know it sounds harsh but I'm glad Kelli moved away a few years ago. I know they wish they'd been able to spend more time with her since her time here was so short but I think that it will help them cope a little better since they weren't used to seeing her every day.

Hi everyone! I meant to come in here over the weekend to hang out with the chatty Peas but never got around to it. I just opened it up and realized it's the Calendar Girls thread! I don't think I've ever posted to these before, but I enjoy both chatting and scrapping, so I think I'll fit in

I'm impressed by how many projects some of you finished over the weekend! I'm off to go check some of them out. I managed to carve out some time to scrap this evening and almost finished a page, but I have some Glossy Accents on my embellishments that need to dry, so I won't be able to get it all done tonight. Maybe tomorrow or this weekend. I decided to make something using one of the prompts from the Stash Busters challenge this week so I can clear out space for new CHA goodies!

Hey KBPEA glad you dropped in...yep many of us were part of the calendar girls but now there's no calendar and hey, so many more are joining in. Always a home to come chat and share life and any projects you might be working on. No pressure just encouragement. The more the merrier.

Weather here is very rainy and blustery...almost blew me off the road tonight. Kind of scary how hard it was to keep the car on the road. Glad to be home.

Heading to bed. Watched Private Practice. Sad there is only 3 episodes left before it is completed. I'll miss that show as it is one of the few I watch.

Hoping to get a good night's sleep. Hope you all do too.

Morning all and it's not a good one. Someone or something is waking me up every morning around 2:20 a.m. It's happened every day this week so far and several in the past but more sporadically. Some days I can go right back to sleep, others, like this morning, I toss and turn and am totally exhausted by the time I do get up. There have been several small earthquakes in Tennessee over the last week so it could be the ground shifting but it seems like Randy would hear it too, especially since I sleep in earplugs to avoid his snoring. It's annoying.

Whine over, headed for the shower. Hope you all have a great day.

Theresa - that is so crummy. Hate when I can't sleep through the night! Especially not being able to go back to sleep.

Sherri Do some research before buying your front loader. I always wanted one but now that I have one, I hate it. My pants always come out twisted and wrapped around other clothes. You have to leave the door open if not in use because it will start to stink if you don't and the mold build up in the front loaders are worse. And they are very difficult to clean, to keep the mold away, it likes to attatch its self to the rubber around the drum. They are great for using less water and are more energy efficant though. Just my own opion. I would just hate for you to get a machine you will not be happy with in the long run, so letting you know of all the "surpises" I found out after the fact.

Welcome Kate! this is an awesome place to get inspiration from. These wonderful ladies are very talented!

BarbaraTry rubbing the menthol rub on her feet bfore she goes to sleep. I have quite a few friends who swear by that. I have tried and know I have slept better, just don't know if the coughing lessened or I was just sleeping through it.

Mary Jo Humor is an excellent word for the year! I too get stressed about the little things, especially with my boys. I want them to do well in school and I sometimes forget to make things fun. I think every need humor in thier lives ans laughter can sometimes be the best medicine.

KBPea Welcome! I can't wait to see your projects.

I am happy to day that I am cught up and only have few windows open then I can say I am all praised up too.

I really want to scrap and I have a couple LOs I need to get pictures of and post. I am hoping my new camera will get better shots. I jusst keep seeing other things around the house that need to get done. I am still living the the Christmas teardown clutter. I love that Kevin is getting over time but with him working 12 hour shifts nothing is getting done at home. Today I need to tackle laundry then I WILL start to get my scraproom organized again.

Have a great day everyone!

Wow, you girls are chatty!

My guests have left this morning, so life is slowly getting back to normal. I worked this morning but am very tired right now. I just couldn't fall asleep last night and ended up in Kyle's room (he slept in Sean's room as Ruan spent the night with my dad). I switched on the light and worked on my KB History project. Just wrote down any memories that came to mind. Next thing I knew it was 1am Feeling it now.

The good thing is IT'S RAINING!!!! I can actually have some coffee to keep me awake. Mary Jo, I love your OLW. Think mine needs to be 'positive'. I'm trying to focus on the positive in every situation. Might have to research that class/ project as I've never looked into it before. It's run by Ali Edwards, right?

Barbara - Good to see you back. I also had 2 weeks without internet and was lost. Hope Charlotte's coughing is easing. Kiddies sometimes cough witout any obvious cause, but if whooping cough is around like Theresa said, please watch her for any distress breathing. They sound as if they are coughing into a tin can. It has been doing the rounds here too.

Kate - gkad you decided to come say hi. I love scraplifting too and sketches are a great starting point when nothing seems obvious.

Tammy - Happy Birthday to Bobby! Ouch, teaching a kid to drive We can only get a learners here at 17 and a drivers at 18, so I have a little more time than you girls before my hair goes pure white with stress, lol. Happy to hear there is improvement with your wrist. The lighter cast must be a relief.

Debi - Hmmm, what happened to your scrappy mojo? Or is it just too rough to do anything on the computer with your RA so bad? I wish I could come help you. Sounds really bad if you can't climb stairs. If it's that lack of photos you were complaining about last year I'll happily send you a bunch of mine

Sherri - I think I'd be excited too. We don't have a jury system here and it always sounds facinating. Did you get picked? What sort of case is is or aren't you allowed to tell till its over? I'm with Lori on the front-loader. Never loved mine and now have a top-loader and am much happier. For pretty much the same reasons.

Hi KBPea! Pleae jump right in and chat. The Stash Buster challenges look good. Just wish I had more time right now.The never-ending need to do vs. want to do...

Theresa - If you are sleeping with earplugs it shouldn't be a sound. Maybe pain in a joint or something like that? Do you go to bed around the same time each night that muscles could be stiffening at round the same time every night? Just speculating here.

Have a great Hump Day. I'm going to scrap now - the laundry, etc. will keep till tomorrow

Good Morning Ladies!

Yes, I did get picked to be on the jury. I cannot discuss the type of case until after we have been excused and rendered our decision. It is very fascinating to be there and see how things work.

Lori & Michelle - thanks for your insight on the front loaders. I will definitely do some research and get some more opinions.

Welcome to all the new faces!!

Hope to get some praising done tonight, hope you all have a wonderful day!

Wow lots of chatter, we are cerainly living up to our name. Not much going on here. Just sitting at the car dealership having the oil changed in my van. Thought I'd pop in and get caught up. We've had such nice weather the last couple of days hitting 60 but we are expecting highs of 41 on Sat and Sunday and rain tomorrow. Yuck!

Kate welcome to the group.

Tere I liked the FB page. What a great organization.

Barbara Hope Charlotte is feeling better.

Tammy Glad you were able to get the smaller cast.

Debi I agree with you the second day back to school was harder than the first. I could barely get the girls out of bed and we were running late. Hope your RA calms down and you start to move better.

KBPea The weekends tend to be hectic around our house too.

Theresa Hope your day turns around and you can stay awake.

Lori I guess living in the desert has it's advantages for a front loader I don't have the problem with mold. I can even leave a load in most of the day and it's not mildewy. I do keep a clothes pin on the door when it's not in use to keep it from accidentally getting shut (we don't have a laundry room it's a hallway between the kitchen and garage so the door gets closed when walking by). But it does eat socks if I forget to check the door gasket. I've ruined a few of the girls favorite socks.

Diana Hope you're feeling better too. Lot's of sickness going around my father-in-law has been sick too. Hoping the kids and my mom don't get it. He's staying with us.

Morning Chatty Peas! I'm reserving the "good" for now too, since THERESA gave me the idea a few posts back. LOL

MY RA is kicking my butt...and the rest of me feels like I've been kicked too. Really tough going right now. Hurts to do everything and because of the pain I'm not very strong either. Just doing what I need to get by. Yes MICHELLE the RA is temporarily got a hold on my MOJO as I'm not enjoying doing anything at the moment. Even keyboarding is an effort, and I find myself drifting off to sleep (partially because like a few of you, I'm not sleeping well due to the pain, and when I do sleep I don't notice the pain). Kind of a catch-22. Doesn't help that the weather is cold, windy and wet right now. Not ideal for RA sufferers. But I'll perservere.

My mom gave me a new coat with buttons I can do...it's navy blue which I like as it's a bit classier looking than my red coat. She also gave me a box of Hershey's Pot of GOld chocolates (NOT that I should eat them, but they are good) that she got for $1.97 (the store accidentally marked down the $18 boxes). She went back the next day to buy more and found out they had made a mistake and remarked them by then. She should have bought more when she had the chance. LOL She is so good at getting good deals it's funny. Wish I had her karma.

I'm going to rest for a bit then see if I can get some paperwork done before having to pick up the boys after school. I won't make them walk home in the rain, but geesh, wish the rain would stop.

I agree with whomever asked, but please put your name in your post so we can associate names and userids quicker. I'd much rather refer to you as "your name" than your "peaname"

Catch you all later.

Did I insult everyone? No one has posted after me....hmmm.

The rain temporarily stopped, so boys got to walk home. Yay, for me. Noah is helping me make dinner tonight...we're making a garlic shrimp pasta dish and some steamed broccoli on the side. Maybe I'll have him slice some fresh strawberries for some color.

I actually scrapped today although I did fall asleep half way through with the laptop on my lap...LOL Here's my first completed page of the year.

Evening, what a day. Crazy stuff all day. On the way home I stopped by my Aunt Joyce's house to check on her and found out that AT&T had switched her phone number with that of a person a block away. Called the repair number and after being on hold forever finally reached a tech. He couldn't take the work order from me because my aunt doesn't have AT&T so I called the other house with my cell (by dialing my aunt's number) and put her on speaker with the tech on my aunt's house phone. Found out the other woman has been trying to get through to them all afternoon, kept getting the answering service. After 40 minutes on hold she'd given up and left her number for a call back--they didn't call back. Of course her number was actually ringing through to my aunt's house so they couldn't have reached her anyway. The tech and her had a nice conversation with me holding my cell phone (on speaker) up to the house phone, tech will be sent immediately.

Lots of crazy stuff at work all day but the best was right at the end of the day when I got threatened by a patient's husband over the phone. He said he's going to sue ME for malpractice because his wife wanted me to give a verbal order to the pharmacist to change a prescription that Doc gave her over a week ago to get her a different brace than what Doc ordered. Seems that the script he wrote for a brace that is available over the counter isn't covered by Medicaid. She wanted me to give them an order for a more expensive brace that would be covered. Ridiculous! I told them I couldn't order something that Doc didn't think was needed when she could buy what he thought would work for $10. Nope, they're calling a lawyer and suing ME for malpractice. Doc was in surgery today so couldn't ask him although I did tell them I'd ask and call her back tomorrow. Nope they were insistent that it had to be done immediately because they were already in the pharmacy and didn't want to come back. He actually had the nerve to tell me that I "had to" give them what they wanted because she asked for it and Medicaid would pay for it. Told him we couldn't order things just because the patient wanted them, they had to be medically necessary or it would be Medicaid fraud. He again threatened me with a lawsuit, said he was going to hang up and call his lawyer and for me to expect a call from him. Gotta love it! I told him to be sure and give the lawyer the correct name, told him my name and then offered to find them a new doctor if they were so unhappy with Doc.

And people wonder why the government is in financial ruins, too many people think the world owes them. This woman is 21 years old and on medicaid because she doesn't want to work. Told my manager, he said I have to fill out an incident report (already charted the whole episode) and it will be sent to our lawyers just in case. Told him the guy's not going to sue, he can't even afford $10 for a neoprene brace and even if he did, there is no case. They can't sue me for not writing orders I'm not a doctor. Stupid I tell you. But anyway will have to spend who knows how much time tomorrow dealing with the paperwork involved. Sometimes I really don't like people!

Headed to bed, I'm pooped! Not sure who suggested joint pain or something like that waking me up, that's an idea. I've went to bed about the same time each night all week. Going now an hour early, we'll see if I wake up at 1:25.

Praisemark!

Lots of great inspiration in the gallery ladies, keep it coming!

I'm exhausted, I didn't think be on a jury would make me so tired, but it has. A few more days they say and we will be done.

Tere I like the FB page, what a great thing they are doing!

Debi hope you can get some rest and get some relief.

Theresa sorry about the day you had. I am amazed by what people think they are owed or entitled to!!

Off to pick Devon up from basketball practice and then I think I will call it night!

Noah cooked with me tonight. We made garlic shrimp pasta and broccoli. Came out great. Kinda of nice to have the boys cook with me, even though it's out of necessity at the moment. Good for them to see what goes into creating a meal.

Headed to bed already. I really don't like to stay up long, no comfortable chairs right now. Bed is more comfortable even though I'm propped up with pillow behind me and under my knees. Warmer too and that helps tremendously.

MONICA B how has your mouth been since you had all those teeth pulled?

THERESA some people sure feel entitled don't they? I can understand both sides but really, $10 should not be a deal breaker nor should they threaten to sue...you're not in charge of what was prescribed. Crazy!

Predicting we might get some snow tonight. Oh I hope not. Driving is hard enough without that to be added to the equation.

Think I'll snuggle down and enjoy my blankets.

Welcome Kate!

Welcome Mary Jo! I have a sister named Mary Jo.

If you have to be away from this thread for a few days, it takes forever to catch up! I am praised to here, but it's time for bed and I don't have time to do much chatting.

DH and I are in charge of the District Scout Eagle Recognition again this year. We will recognize 81 young men who earned their Eagle in 2012. It's always so much work, and it has taken my scrapping time!! So for the next week or so, I will be posting hardly anything.

Hugs to everyone. Tammy take it easy on that wrist. It's so easy to overdo and pay for it the next day.

Can say I didn't wake up between 2:15 and 2:30 but did wake up 5 other times starting a little after 12. Randy was the cause twice but other than that who knows. Didn't make it to bed until almost 10 (so much for trying to go early). Think tonight I'll take some Benadryl.

Nylene, good luck with the ceremony. That's a lot of scouts to celebrate!

morning girls -

sorry been MIA...totally got caught up in the book I've been given to read...Fifty Shades of Grey...yeah, I bit the bullet and started reading them. One of the girls at J's is reading them, so I'm borrowing hers. They're different, for sure. To be honest, it's not
as "bad" as I thought it was going to be (which considering they're pretty risque, you can only imagine how "bad" I thought it was going to be, LOL). anyway, almost done with the first one, and then I'll get the next one from her this weekend. So because of this, working at J's and school, time has flown by, LOL. School has been really, really busy.

Welcome to all the new girls. We're really happy to see you here. I hope you'll stick around and we'll get to see some of your great work

Theresa - oh, yeah, aren't people a hoot when it comes to stuff like that? Sounds like some of the customers I get at J's. Glad to say, and sad to say, another girl got her head bit off last night at customer service as they put me on the floor to put the items away. She got it from like three different people...so sad. I felt for her as I've been there. I'm so thankful for some of the wonderful customers I've come to know, and love A lot of changes going on there too though...ugh...again. Hope today is a better day for you.

Sherry - I've been on jury duty a few times. I used to be a court stenographer way back when (which seems like a lifetime ago). Mostly I did medical malpractice, accidental deaths by cars, trains, scuba diving, etc., and car accidents, very, very few criminal, thank goodness. I'm the type of person that if I thought someone did something wrong, I would probably turn around and give them a "Gibbs" slap across the head, not out of affection eiher, LOL.

I had chosen a OLW this year also, although I haven't scrapped it or anything. I chose Balance. Trying to balance it all has been somewhat difficult these days, so I chose that word as that's what I'm seeking, LOL.

Tammy - take care of yourself, girl.

Tina - Hope everything is going well.

Nylene - you're right, when you get behind, geesch...LOL. I will get caught up on praise this weekend though.

anyway, I really need to get running. Because I've been staying awake 'til all hours of the night reading, I've been running late lately.

See you all later.

NYLENE we'll miss you while you're preparing the EAGLES banquet but come back soon.

DANIELLE welcome.

TONI I haven't even wanted to read those books. Is it all they advertised? Since I don't have a "love life" at the moment, I don't want to be frustrated reading about someone else's. LOL

THERESA don't know about you but I got woke up ever 1/2 hr with the battery alert in the smoke alarm chirping...until the heat came on and then it stopped. Guess it's more sensitive when it's cold. Will have to have one of the kids help me change out the battery but I can't reach it right now.

Not much happening here. Off to have some breakfast and then see what else I might be able to do. Don't feel as sore today but have little energy...get tired really easy. Spending most of my time in bed, unfortunately. Makes it harder to accomplish stuff. LOL

Toni - I read the series a few weeks back. Went through all 3 books in less than a week. It was a weird experience. I found the writing atrocious, several continuity issues and the plot very predictable but it still kept me reading till the end. I suppose a part of me kept hoping the whole thing couldn't be as bad all the way through?!? As for being risque - nope, wasn't as bad as I was expecting either. Take out the Red Room and it's not that wierd (or am I alone on this one?)

Theresa - Oh, I understand your issues with patients totally. We often have patients wanting us to substitute meds for another that the medical aid will cover rather than what the doc prescribed. I'm allowed to give generics or reduce the dosage in some cases, but can't increase or change the active ingredient to what the patient wants. Have had many long discussions with patients about this. Poor you. Those phonecalls leave one drained and upset when there is really nothing for you to feel bad about or anything you can legally do. Your story made me wonder if Americans (major generalisation) are as set on sueing for every little thing as we in the rest of the world tend to believe.

Debi - glad to see you finally managed to scrap. Must have done your psyche some good even if the fingers were aching . I feel for you.

I had some really bad news today - Amanda, my frontshop assistant with the brain tumour, is going downhill very fast. She is paralysed down one side of her body and won't be returning to work. Ever. She was on sick leave till the 12th but the doctor had now made it permanant. My heart is broken. The radiation didn't work and the tumour is now causing mini-stokes, hence the paralysis. Sorry to share my bad news, but I have to get it off my chest. She's like family.

Life is otherwise a bit of a mess as Heinrich's office opened today but our nanny is still on leave, so I'm working mornings and he afternoons so someone is home to look after the kids. Boy, school better start soon! Next Wednesday can't come quickly enough! I'm craving routine again.

Yay for Friday tomorrow!

PS: Sherri - I'm very curious about the jury duty. You and Toni need to spill the beans once the case is done. Is it a juicy one, lol?

Thanks Girls! It's always nice to get virtual hugs from you all.

I'm trying really hard to finish a page for Monica's big shape challenge but it just won't come together. I keep moving things around but it just won't 'click'. Ugh. Hate it when that happens with a page. I may just have to call it good enough and stick everything down anyway

And I see that others have been able to link! I am not sure what is going on

Michelle - I'm so sorry to hear your bad news. I've known a couple of people who had brain tumors, and it so hard to watch them and their families struggle to cope with it.

I think I've checked out everyone's work up to here - very impressive!

I'm a little freaked out by this crazy flu emergency we have going on in MA. I started feeling a little under the weather last night, but I think it may have been either paranoia or just a combination of stress/exhaustion. I don't usually get a flu shot, but I think I'm going to today. It takes 2 weeks to kick in, so it's not a perfect solution, but I guess better than not doing anything.

Hope everyone has a good day. Is anyone planning to participate in the CHA Social this weekend? I sure am!

Good morning ladies!
All I have to say is TGIF. I still feel crappy can't wait for a nice quiet weekend with absolutely nothing to do other than yes put Christmas away.

I have been going through some tough times with Natalie at her school, finally Stan and I decided that it would be in the best interest for Natalie to change her school and put her back into our Public Education, which to me is on of the best. She was placed in a class with kids who after me the FBI checked into their test scores and sat in class to see just how things were, found out that they are just way behind in Math, Natalie is not the best in language arts as she is still learning to read, however her math skill are amazing, even Monica is envy of it. She finishes 3 or 4 pages of homework in less than 15 minutes, when I asked the other parents how long it takes your child to finish they tell me 30 to 45 minutes and it's not one child is a lot of them. There is even a little girl who has a learning disability and the teachers spend so much time with her while the other have nothing to do. After voicing my concern, she said, we just need to add an enrichment paper for those who are ahead, and have groups. Oh so the solution is more homework. Just does not make sense to me, and they can't put Natalie in a higher lever because her language arts SAT scores were 89. God forbid they challenge her a little in language arts, because they are definitely setting her back in math. AT the new school they are placing her in a Team class which is for the more advanced kids that are not gifted and I know she will do great there. I don't know if she is gifted but the gifted teacher was Monica's 3rd grade teacher and they are good friends now so she it going to help us through the process. Not to mention they are charging me $15 for one lunch Natalie had in October because she forgot her lunch and $79 for 6 in November, their methods are just to benefit them. I am going to miss the moms I met that are great but for the most part we will still make an effort to get together.
Well I wrote a book sorry I'm just so stressed out.

Michelle, I'm so sorry about your friend, Sending you a big (((HUG))) and many prayers for your friend.

Theresa, what an ordeal, it seems that this place is just filled with drama. Hope you have not stopped looking for a new place. It's just way too much stress there.

Danille, Welcome!

Sherri..I agree with Lauri, I hate my front loader, never again. Do research it not as great as they say it is. It does stink, you need to clean it often the best way I found to keep the mold from forming is by leaving the door open otherwise is horrible. Just make sure you put HE detergent also.

Ok have to get ready for work today I start at 9:30 I'm tired I so wish I did not have to go in today.

ne-little-word-2013-humor/'>One Little Word LO

Not sure where you might have gone wrong with the link as I can't see the code, but sometimes it's not you, but actually 2peas that has the glitch. Hope this link works.

KBPEA I need to get a flu shot too although I already had a killer flu a few months back...knocked me off my feet for over 2 weeks, couldn't do anything, not even eat. Lost 8 lbs. Was hoping to wait til next week when I go into see my RA but perhaps I should get on that today. I can't afford to be any sicker than I am right now.

I hope to participate some with the CHA challenges. Not likely to chat much but I suspect you'll see MONICA B as she usually chats up a storm in those events.

It's 28 degrees...and these windows are NOT keeping the cold outside. I'm freezing.

DIANA it's so hard to advocate for our kids. Since every kid is different in how they learn and what they excel in or need help in. SOunds like the move is the right choice. Hope it works out as planned. Is Natalie ok with the move? And I agree, I hate the concept of just give the "smart" kids more homework to keep them busy---NOT! Both my boys excel in math, one even further than the other but it's been a tough road to get them in the right classes as one of them had trouble with learning to read/comprehending what he reads...LA and MATH are definitely different abilities and come from separate places in the brain IMO. Hang in there.

Sun is coming out but snow flurries are predicted for tomorrow. A couple of cold days for sure. I made the kids walk to school in 28 degrees. Am I a bad mom?

I did 2 more LOs last night but one I have to hunt down a couple photos to scan before I post. So I guess this is just a teaser. LOL

Have a great Friday. The weekend is coming.

Debi - your link for the page isn't working either - I get server error 505.

Diana - My thoughts are with you with this big decision for Natalie. It is so hard to know what is best for our kids. Sean has sensory problems and ADD so finding the right school for him was a challenge. But adding homework is not the way to handle a kid with a talent in a certain direction. Ruan also excells at Math and we had to find advanced work for his grade to keep him interested without going too far ahead so he won't be bored in the next grade. His teacher wasn't very interested in helping us either. Seems the teachers sometimes just focus on the struggling kids and not so much on the advanced kids. They are doing okay so don't need as much attention, seems to be the attitude.

(Wow, 3 posts in one day! An all time record for me, I'm sure!)

Debi - your link for the page isn't working either - I get server error 505.

Good morning, ladies!

I am in my craft room! Hooray! I am working on my nephew's wedding invites, but it's better than not being in here. I looooove my craft room--even when it's littered with the carnage of Christmas wrapping.

So, I am mostly caught up on the chatter and the praise. I could write a novel commenting on everything, but for the most part I'm gonna a let it go at this: I hope everyone's 2013 brings peace and happiness. Some of us have had tough years, some of us have had physical challenges, some of us have endured extreme losses...but ALL of us have each other. And I know I feel quite lucky to 'have' you guys.

I said "for the most part" because what I *am* going to comment on is what DEBI, DIANA, and MICHELLE have mentioned and that is the ongoing battle of advocating for, rearing, educating, and generally being there for your children.

Ladies, it IS hard. It is EXHAUSTING. But thank you, thank you, THANK YOU from the rest us who live on this planet, for giving it your all. And too everyone here who has reared their children...THANK YOU. I have spent the last few days reeling from an experience that can only be summed up as an EPIC FAILURE in parenting. So from someone who lives here, and has to interact with the worlds "children," thank you for educating them. Thank you for teaching them to advocate for themselves. Thank you for making them walk home when its really cold. Thank you for teaching them how to be functioning members of society, despite tough times, tough conditions, a tough world. Because when you do not do those things...the rest of have to live with the guy who screams about a $10 back brace, threatens us...the 23 year-old still-living at home guy who disappears and causes a man-hunt in five counties because he wanted some time alone...and those are only if we're lucky. Imagine if the back-brace-guy had a gun!!

OK, rant over.

I'm going back to invitations now.
