If there are any cardmakers out there who fancy a bit of a relaxed challenge this year aimed at getting you to make at least one card a week then I'd love it if you joined in with the prompts I post each Monday on my blog. I ran this challenge last year as a bit of fun plus it meant I could put some of the lovely pins I'd accumulated on Pinterest to good use too!
The details are here but in a nutshell the prompts may be 3 random items picked from the prompt jar, photo inspiration, design elements or themes, an existing card design to use as a sketch, or a colour prompt.
Also this year I'm trying to make an additional Christmas card based on each prompt as I really do not want a repeat of Christmas 2012 and the great Christmas card drought! I need to be much better prepared!
If you want to join in then it'd be lovely if you'd share your cards in this thread. |

I've made another card this week that fits the "new" theme as I put some lovely new stamps, dies, and inks to good use, and also tried out a technique that was almost new to me. I loved this chalkboard technique when I saw it showcased by Betsy Veldman in November, just hadn't had chance to try it until this week.

I'm just getting back into making cards and stamping, so I may try this challenge. If I may ask, how did you get the stamp to look like a chalkboard? |

Here you go, it's this technique as showcased by Betsy, there's a video tutorial on Nichole Heady's blog, but I had pinned this post by Betsy back in November, hoping to try it out one day! |

Kool (like how I did that? )! Although I will admit that 52 cards a year is not relaxing for me. I can be uber slow and sometimes find it hard to find time to craft. But, I will join in when I can.
Thanks so much for the link to the chalkboard technique. Love it! My last 2 Christmas cards were chalkboard designs. It's something I would probably have never seen. Looking forward to seeing more fun ideas.
Btw, here's a link to a card I just made tonight for Kimber's Saturday Card Sketch challenge (I only managed to do 11 of her 52 last year). It's using a new 6x6 MME pad I had bought over Christmas. Thanks!
thank you card | |

Lovely cards!
It's meant to be a no-stress challenge, when you can play along that's great, if you need an extra push to make something then hopefully the prompts will work, and if you feel like you want to get extra gold stars then the Christmas cracker bonus is the way to go!
And speaking of... I'd best get down to working out what Monday's prompt will be.
I am going to have to try and tempt myself away from doing the chalkboard technique again. hehe I can see it being a very addictive one! |

No worries ladies! This is definitely one of those challenges where you can jump in at any time and just use past prompts for added inspiration.
I posted my Christmas card based on the week 2 sketch to my blog today, obviously using the same technique as the main card pays off when you're pushed for time. I think I shall be employing that tactic quite a lot this year!

I am still thinking about Week 1. I have an idea for that card, but what's slowing me down is the idea includes a very recent photo that I haven't printed yet.
I'm a bit stumped on your Week 2 prompt though. "Clean and Simple" is almost everything I do. So the Week 1 card probably will be in celebration of something new, contain a newly-printed photo, and (most likely) be clean and simple. |

If clean and simple is what you usually do then this week's prompt should be easy peasy for you.
Last year there were prompts that were really challenging for some people and then there were others that just fit right in with their style... the prompts are just there for inspiration, the end goal each week is to get a card made. And if it fits the bill 100%, great! But if you just take the prompt as inspiration and it leads to other things, no problem. |

OK, here is my card that I've been working on for almost two weeks. Following week one's prompt, it uses a new (very recently printed, and taken two days before you started this thread) photo and will be used to congratulate my newly-engaged brother and his fiance.
Engagement card
I have not glued the button down yet. I like it with the button, but I've got to mail it to my brother. Without the button, I am sure it is my usual clean and simple. With it, it may still be.
Question: Will you be posting a new thread this Tuesday? |

So much for joining in, I got sick the day after Christmas, just a cold and just as I was feeling well last Thursday, I got a sleeping sickness ... at least that is what it felt like, I only wanted to sleep for over 2 days. Barely got out of bed to go to the bathroom. Had no energy.
I'm feeling much better but just TIRED OF BEING SICK!!! I want to go make this thank you card that is needed and it is cold. This is a mountain ski resort town and what little snow we've gotten has only been a few inches at best. |
