It's another year of the Young Scrappers! Welcome to 2013! Let's make this year even bigger & better than ever before 
Who are the Young Scrappers? We are a group of "young" 20-something to 30-something year old girls who created a group to share our interest in scrapbooking! We take the "young" part lightly - it's all about how young you feel. Feel free to join in the chat! Just post an intro so we know who you are. And post links to your layouts here - we love to share our work & leave some praise!

We have a brand new challenge to start out the year:
For the Pinspiration Challenge, we collaborated to create a list of 52 challenges - one for each week this year! The challenges were based off of layouts we had pinned on Pinterest or bookmarked online. It is a way to use some of that inspiration we are constantly pinning on Pinterest!
There really are no rules with this challenge! It is more just a way to motivate each other to scrapbook. Choose challenges from the list that you feel inspired by, create something, and share it with us! The goal is to see how many challenges you can complete in one year.

I want to hear everyone's scrappy goals for 2013 
I wrote mine down in Oct, haha, so I'll go look them up and see if I want to change anything then tell ya'll.
So, I'm the challenge leader for January so I'll be coming up with something fun once we get the challenges posted. Should we have our first challenge be send 1 more to Monica to help her make 52? And if you haven't sent yours in yet, well, hurry please so we can get scrapping. 
The kids are back in school which is sad, but I'm ready to get back into a schedule - which includes Friday as my scrapping day! YAY! | |

Got the next couple days off so I will be able to catch up.
I am still deciding what to do today since I just woke up and at Jonny's. May go home and then to the states to pickup packages but doubt it. May go get some last min things for our trip. 13 days!!

hey girlies!
Babysitting Miss Sofia today, hopefully for only another hour or 2. I am so exhausted - I definitely did not get enough sleep last night, thanks to my cousin's daughter. I can't wait to go home and take a shower & nap! Then I plan to get my scrap on tonight. If anyone is around, we can chat tonight!
Please please send me some challenges if you haven't already!
What we were doing is picking inspiration layouts/cards/projects from either Pinterest or your bookmarks and coming up with a challenge based on that layout. So when you send the challenges, don't forget to send me a link to the layout you drew inspiration from!
Melissa- Would you be able to come up with some challenges? I am trying to get to 52 total on our list! How exciting about your trip coming up!
Caro- I miss seeing you around here! But, yes, thank goodness for Instagram! Are you going to try to get some scrapping in before school starts again? I'm doing okay, thanks for asking! I spent a week in Denver with my grandparents, brother, & mom for Christmas. It was kinda boring, but nice to see them. Then I got into a big fight with my mom and spent a few days at my cousins' house. So been a bit chaotic. I'm ready for everything to go back to normal!
Alinor- A 4 month break from scrapping? I bet you are ready to get back into it! It's been a while since I have done just a regular layout. I can't wait to scrap tonight!
Loni- You are sad about the kids going back to school?! All the parents I know can't wait for their kids to go back! LOL. I had no idea what my resolutions would be on New Years Eve, but I wrote down some today. Need to look through & see if I need to add to or edit my list.
Jo- I saw your post on the other thread - send your challenges my way! You can peamail them to me.
Steph- I can't wait to start the challenges, too!
Glad you girls like the new banner! I was drawing a blank at first - seems like they are starting to look the same. I do like the bright colors & veneer alpha on the new one, though! | |

Caro: wow you have been gone for a while, but it's super nice of you to drop in and say hi. Hope school is good this semester for you and you find a little scrappy time during breaks or down time.
Monica: I didn't use any links for my challenges. I didn't know the rules behind it all. Hope it's okay. Hope you get some rest after babysitting Sofia.
Loni: I would miss my kids too if I had them off for a while then the house was empty for a part of the day again. Maybe not the first day, but surely the second.

I've been stalking these threads for awhile now and am excited to join in the fun this year! Let me introduce myself:
My name is Chelsea, I'm 24 years old & Just celebrated my 4 year wedding anniversary Dec. 27th with my amazing husband Sean. We have 2 adorable children, Aaron who will be 2 in April and Olivia who just turned 1 month old yesterday. We live in the beautiful NW Arkansas and have a 3 year old border collie/black lab mix dog named Sadie. I have been out of scrapbooking land for a few years and am just now getting back into the groove of things.

How fun Melissa! How does one prepare for a trip like that anyway. I bought hubs a cruise for Christmas. That's about as adventurous as I've ever gotten.
Monica, when they were fighting I couldn't wait for school to start but when we were having fun, I was like "this break isn't long enough" especially since they were sick for a lot of it.
Elizabeth, I cried all day the first day my oldest started school, haha!
Yay Chelsea! Welcome to the YSers! Congrats on the new baby and the anniversary!
I'm Loni, 29, I have 4 kids and have been married so long I can't keep track. I think it's 9 years in May. (I'd ask Hubby but he'll just make fun of me.) My kids are 7, almost 6, 4 and 18 months.

Whew, I made it to 2013 Happy New Year everyone! I spent most of my four day weekend sleeping and trying to recover from a nasty cold. Welcome Alinor and Chelsea! I'm Elizabeth, live in Oklahoma, 27 (28 in a week), married 6.5 years, and I have 2 daughters age 5 (Glorianna) and 2 (Lailani) and a 3rd baby due in July. Look forward to getting to know you ladies.
Loni: I honestly would cry the first day they went to school ever. Girl I remember crying when I had my husband drop her off at daycare the first time.
Seems like the whole board is chatting about PL. Have fun to those that are doing it for the first time. Was hoping to start, but just not in the best of moods to start it this year. I did like the new WeR 3x4 punch that is coming out. Hoping once everything gets settled after the baby I can start it up.

@Melissa : No way, I can't believe you are leaving in 12 days !!! It seems so far away when you were mentionning your trip... I missed a few details I think, do you mind telling me your itinary ?
@Monica : I am so sorry to hear that you had a fight with your mum... It is a new year, can't the 2 of you put it behind and start from fresh ? I will see what I can find for the challenges, but I doubt I will be able to participate, unless I manage to keep my sunday afternoon (I realised that friday was not a good day, I prefer do as mch work as I can before the WE). Scrappy time this week ? I wish, I might try to fill in the PL page protector that I bought for my mexican album (but no promesses)
@Elizabeth : Congratulation !!! (I did not know you were pregnant !! or it might have slipped my mind...). Yes I hope I will be better organised this semester... but january and march are going to be 2 difficult months so we will see...
@Chelsea : Welcome among us, you won't see me often this year unfortunatelly due to my teaching training but I will try to come by from time to time
@Loni : My life is too boring to Instagram it... (can I say that??) I wish you would do it more !!!!
@Stephanie : It is nice to see you too, wow PL ! so many of you are doing it... I might try for my 3 month in Spain (from April to June). So soon I might ask all of you some tips !!!

did someone ask about goals for 2013 ?? good question, I will do like Chelsea:
- Personal :
be more fit/be healthier, succeed my PGCE, find a job for July and next year (school year), enjoy being in Spain/improve my Spanish/and pass a Spanish diploma
- Scrappy :
try to scrap once a week (even if it is for 2 hours), do a PL for my time in Spain, be more organised for next year (still school year), and use my stash !!!!

Millie had to go to the doctor yesterday. She has eczema and we are having to do therapeutic baths and apply medication to make it go away. Poor little one.

Rachel: Hi! Poor Millie, I hope the baths are helping her! I do hope to scrap some this weekend. I may only be able to work on this week's PL spread and hopefully at least one other layout I have planned out in my head.
We are moving next weekend, so most of this weekend will be spent cleaning, going through stuff, making piles to donate/throw away and packing some boxes. The new apartment will be much closer to my office, and since we are getting the keys on Monday, I plan on taking some stuff over there on my lunch break a few days next week. I think that will help make putting everything together on the 12th when we move all of the furniture go faster; at least that is what I'm hoping! | |

I downloaded an app- My Wonderful Days- That is a journal and photo album. I like that it will help me keep pictures and stories together and can be printed directly from the app. | |

Rachel, me too! Scrapping day is Friday for me and I even talked to Hubs about being in charge of the kids in the evening. I'll be working on my first PL spread! I need an app like that for android - let me know if you hear of one.

Loni: nice sneak in lol . Yes I actually always feel better once I enter the 2nd trimester. I get more energy though towards the end so not 100% happy these days. But for the most part feeling um not pregnant. Lol. Just migraines that I think are sinus related. Hope you are feeling good (heck for the women that cleaned her piano I know you are good lol).
I wish I could have chatted, but um Glori wanted Tacos and I feel into a taco coma and actually can't go to bed because I'm still stuffed off tacos. Yuck no more says the baby. I hope to start scrapping or looking at my supplies next week when hubby goes back to school. Right now honestly I am just enjoying his company and help around the house.

@Rachel: poor Millie.... I suffer from eczema since I was a baby, and it comes back everytime I am stress (not really ideal...) so I truly understand !

Elizabeth, Yes, it changed from all day to afternoon and evening that's how I got the piano done. (morning - while I still had energy) I was totally nesting! But I felt really awful in the afternoon. I think I'm near the end. I only get lightly queezy now, yay! Almost done!
And thanks everyone for the kind words. I can't believe I'm about to have 5 kids. It makes me feel grown up, actually - for the first time in my life. haha.
Monica, I can't wait to get started on the challenges. I've just got to get these boys off to school and I will get started! Yay!

Steph, I remember when you moved so I thought it must not have been too long. haha, the longest I've ever been anywhere was 2 years. I'm gonna get my scrap on today I also am adding new washi designs to my Etsy shop, so I need to get that set up. That's about all I have planned!
Christina- I agree, you need to spend more time with us  Seriously, though! Hopefully things slow down for you a bit so you can chat with us more.

Mini Kit Swap
Choosing a new line (no more than 1 year old)
Package the following in kit format:
4-6x6 papers from that line
2-coordinating embellishments
3-handmade embellishments (can include diecuts)
2- 1 yard of matching ribbon or twine
We can have themes for multiple kits or just one.

I'm at work but little dude is napping so I thought I'd catch up now.
Loni - congrats on the new addition! Have you told the other children? Sneaky I almost thought I missed you saying you we're expecting lol!
As for preparation for my trip, I have to pack light since everything is in 1 backpack. Simple first aid and pills, clothes, a book, runners and that's pretty much it.
Where's the cruise to?
Caro - time flies! The itinerary is Thailand, probs Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia! I'm sure the 2 months will fly by too fast
Monica - I doubt ill have time to come up with challenges as I'm working 6 days next week and have to still pack and pick up items - sorry! If I am able to, ill be sure to msg you.
The old 12x12 CM LOs I had to take off with a flat ended tool... True 12x12 I jut cut the edges off... Not as hard as I thought it would be - thankfully!
Rachel - I had eczema when I was a wee one. My parents took me to a local hot spring which helped me...
Elizabeth - are you starting to feel better? Did you tell the girls yet?

Loni: great challenge for the weekend and you know what I am going to join in. I need to get back into scrapping. My mom asked when the last time I sewed and I laughed. Heck when was he last time I did anything. Lol. I will have my answers in my next post.
Monica: I plan on joining the chat this weekend. I need some chatting with friends loved your SS from Loni
Rachel: that mini kit sounds like so much fun. I think you got everything in there a kit would include. Hope to hear more. 6x6 paper pads are so popular too and since I am enjoying mini albums and such it's a great idea. I know you mentioned your birthday was this month. When?
Melissa: one backpack. You are a trooper for sure. I hope you have a WONDERFUL time and great experience. Can't wait for when you get back and share your experience and pictures. The girls have known for quite some time and already have names. Lilo named the girl Tinkerbell and Glori named the boy Jack (but we call him Pirate Jack and laugh because he goes Arrr).

Stephanie: are you moving to Denton? I can't remember if that's where you said or not. Hope the moves goes good and the next move you make is into your house. I think the longest we stayed in a place is 2 years and I am hoping that after our rental in Houston we can move into our house. Long way for me though. Have fun getting settled in and things arranged.

Elizabeth - I have one 55 litre (14 gal?) backpack so surprisingly you can fit quite a bit in. I'm not bothered by wearing the same clothes but more of not having clean panties . If anything, we buy clothing abroad since its cheaper. That's so cute about the girls, funny how children name things after princesses and characters. Are you finding out the sex? | |

Melissa: not sure about if we will find out the sex. I would love to since I love being ready and I can shop better and such, but hubby got this great idea that he doesn't want to know. Okay so I'll find out and won't tell you I say. Um yeah that didn't go over so smooth. Lol still talking about it. And yeah I can rehear clothes but I draw the line on my panties. I need a fresh pair. Guys are so lucky because they could care less and turn them in and out and around. Lol
Just finished dinner and getting really tired from no sleep so might cuddle with a book (lost girls) and check chat in a little bit to see if anyone is on.
