Hi fellow PLers, I have just finished my 3rd year of PL and thought I would share my thoughts on PL since there is so many people doing it for the first time this year. This year was the first year that I stayed completely up to date, the other 2 years I fizzled in May/June, but did go back and "catch up" my albums. It is totally worth catching up, but the details in this year's book are so much better. If you fall behind this year and want to catch up I say start new from where you are and then fill in missing stuff a you go along.
I feel that I don't need to stress about the specific days something happen. I do a two week spread per week, but if I don't have enough pics for a specific week then I might make that spread include 2 weeks or add pretty pattern paper to the blank slots...did that a few times and it looks good in the flow of the album. If we happen to be away or something really special happens and have lots of pics I will give that event its own spread. Although I do PL for my immediately family/friends to see, I am also mindful of who my real target is... my grandchildren/great-grandchilden. I want them to enjoy reading about their parents' and grandparents' childhood, and what things were like "back then". Can you imagine having this infomation on your grandparents? You would not care what day of the week it was or if there are pretty paper to fill some blanks, you would be happy to have whatever information was there! So enjoy PL and don't stress about getting it "right", it's whatever you make it!

Thanks for the encouragement!

You are so right, I would love to have a record like this from my Grandparents. Maybe someone will enjoy our books in the future.

That's exactly why I started doing PL. I WISH I had even a glimpse of my grandmother or my mom at my age. Especially now that I am a mom myself. I would love to know what they wore, what things cost, what their ups and downs were in life, and that they went through a lot of the same stuff I am, just in a different time. I am really glad I have kept up with PL in 2012 and have my son's first year documented.

Having said that. It was a little too time consuming for me to try two pages a week. So I am just going with the idea that I will at least trya nd complete two pages a month this year - and if I happen to have more, I will use inserts. If not - no biggie! PL is definitely what you make of it and doing whatever works best for you.

I definitely recommend newbies to start with one spread a week. That way they can get a feel for the process and don't feel too overwhelmed. THEN in the next year they can bump it up to 2 if they feel like it.
