My dd's (13yo, 11yo, and 5yo) have no interest in going. We've asked them for the past 4 years. I'm already starting to plan our family vacation for 2013 and they've already told me 'NO' again.

1. When are YOU going? (this year?) I don't have a trip planned. Boo! I'm sure it won't be long until we enter trip planning mode again. I'm thinking about a Disney cruise with a few days at the parks. I went last year in October for a quick weekend and again in December for a week.
4. What parks are your favorites? MK, AK
5. What rides are your favorite? Forbidden Journey (OK, so it isn't Disney, but we can sneak over to see Harry and Friends, right?). Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror, Splash Mountain.
6. What is your must to "disney" treat? Jalapeno Cream Cheese Pretzels (AK)
7. Favorite Disney restaurant? 'Ohana, Les Chefs de France, and I am dying to try Be Our Guest.
8 Where are you staying? We just stayed at Port Orleans Riverside Royal Rooms - FABULOUS! It was so much fun to shoot off digital fireworks over the bed, the theme was great, and it was close to the bus route.
10. What fun things to you like to participate in? (crushed pennys, hidden mickeys, etc) Pin trading
11. Tell me your favorite HINT, TIP, or must see, or all three! Definitely see the new Tales with Belle. DD didn't want to go, but she immediately asked to do it again after we were done.

1. When are YOU going? (this year?)

End of Febuary

2. Who are you going with?

DH and our 2 boys ages 14 & 7

3. How long will you be going for? 9 days

4. What parks are your favorites?

Magic Kingdom, of course.

5. What rides are your favorite?

DH and I love Rockin Roller Coaster. Hunter's favorite was the Buzz Lightyear, and the whole family loves loves Splash Mountain, and oddly enough... we love the people mover. It's a nice relaxing ride to rest on when you need a break!

6. What is your must to "disney" treat?

Mickey Ice Cream bar for me, Churros for DH and oldest

7. Favorite Disney restaurant? That's a tough one. We loved Crystal Palace, but also liked Sci Fi and 50's prime. There are so many we haven't been to yet though.

8 Where are you staying?

We're booking in the next day or two... either the New Art of Animation, or All Star Movies, the Toy Story area.

9. What souvenirs do you want to get?

Too many. We both love the christmas ornaments. Gotta get us a couple antenna toppers, a fridge magnet, a new penny book, some scrapbook stuff, and then we each get a couple hoodies/ sweatshirts as they are very well made and last forever. Our 7 yr old will want everything, and our 14yr old probably won't want anything.

10. What fun things to you like to participate in? (crushed pennys, hidden mickeys, etc)

We do the crushed pennys. I also like to stand in line for pictures. I think my 7yr old will probably do the autograph book. We're booking him the pirate adventure, and the pirate makeover. 14 yr old hopefully will like the hidden mickeys.

11. Tell me your favorite HINT, TIP, or must see, or all three!

When you eat a disney ice cream bar, take a plastic pop lid, and push your ice cream bar stick through the hole. It catches drips perfectly.

Do the rides during the parades! Especially at night at the Magic Kingdom!

We just returned last night from a WONDERFUL Christmas/ New Year's trip! So much fun!! Definitely my best Christmas and New Years ever!!

DH and I are returning for a few days at the end of Jan. before hopping on a cruise.

We'll spend Easter and the following week there with the kids...8 days.

Then end of June for 9 days with my sister in law and her family and oldest DD's boyfriend will be joining us as well.

We're about 16 hours away. If we lived closer we would be there every month!

1. When are YOU going? (this year?) in Early November. SIL/BIL are running the Wine & Dine half-maraton in Epcot. It will be our first time to ever see Disney World lit-up with Holiday Lights. I'm so excited.
2. Who are you going with? Brand-New NIECE (due May 2013), DD (she'll be 5), FIL/MIL, DH, SIL/BIL.
3. How long will you be going for? 1 Week +
4. What parks are your favorites? In order, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom.
5. What rides are your favorite? Hands-Down....Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. For DD, Small World.
6. What is your must to "disney" treat? Have to have the Mickey Mouse Ice Cream.
7. Favorite Disney restaurant? We love the Garden Grill rotating restaurant in "the Land" in Epcot.
8 Where are you staying? Off property at Orange Lakes Timeshare. You get a ton more space, but you do have to rent a car. It is nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Disney. It is nice, though, being right across the street from a Super Target/Olive Garden/etc.
9. What souvenirs do you want to get? We love collecting Vinylmations.
10. What fun things to you like to participate in? (crushed pennys, hidden mickeys, etc) Crushed pennies. We take mini M&Ms containers and stack them with 2 quarters and a penny, 2 quarters and a penny/etc...to have them ready for the crushed penny machines! My daugher has a Disney collector album thingie for the pennies. You can get them in the hotels and all of the parks.
11. Tell me your favorite HINT, TIP, or must see, or all three!
If you have a little princess, SAVE YOUR DOLLARS and SPLURGE on Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. It was the BEST.EXPERIENCE.EVER. Meg did hers at 3.5 years old. I cried. It was an AWESOME experience for both of us. Her package even came with a free photoshoot with 3 photos. That said, we're hoping that the BBBoutique full-package was a once-in-a-childhood kinda thing...and maybe she'll just want to do hair this go-around. The full-deal is kinda special and time-consuming. We'd be pleased if she didn't want to do it all again.

BEST thing of all. My childhood best friend now lives in the Orlando Area. We see her every time that we are in Disney. Our kiddos (well I should say her 1st kiddo and my kiddo) are 1 year apart. She just found out that she's expecting TWINS!!! They are due in July. Soooo, I'll be extending our stay by a couple of days to spend some time with her babies. Her pregnancy is very new and they had secondary infertaility issues. With twins, things are a tad riskier. But we are all THROUGH THE ROOF with excitement and super-hopeful that everything is going to go perfectly.

Enjoy your 2013 Disney vacations, everyone!!!

I'm a Disneyland Resort passholder, so I go to the parks about twice a month. I'm just waiting for my pass to be unblocked.

I typically go with my mom or one of my friends, and we just go for a few hours at a time.

I must say they did a great job redoing California Adventure Park.

My favorite treat is a churro, followed by Starbucks ... but that doesn't really count. I love that I can get my favorite drink at my favorite place

Tip: Most major attractions offer a single rider pass - if you ride solo you can get in a separate line and board MUCH faster. You simply are a seat filler. If a party of 3 boards a ride, you get to be the 4th person in their car.

Okay, now *I* want to go again! We haven't been back since my son was 4yo and now he is 12yo!

But here is my favorite souvenir - hands down the best. My friend got me a mickey mouse wine stopper. I love it TOOOO much! I use it all the time Definitely a good souvenir and a useful one!

Of course we still have our ears!

Best thing about WDW? Smiley happy people everywhere. Honestly, it is very nice when everyone is nice. WD had it right.

We just got timeshare confirmation for our next trip, which will be a SURPRISE for our DSs!!! I'm about to hit the ground running to make ADRs and get everything all lined up, I can't believe it!!! We go every other year, but it never ever gets old!

1. When are YOU going? (this year?)
We're going in May.

2. Who are you going with?
Myself, DH, 3 DSs (ages 11, 9, 3.5 by then) and my mom

3. How long will you be going for?
One week

4. What parks are your favorites?
Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and the water parks!

5. What rides are your favorite?
My fav is Tower of Terror, the boys love the People Mover... opposites much? LOL Our collective fav is Philharmagic-best show ever!!!

6. What is your must to "disney" treat?
Gotta go with Mickey Ice Cream

7. Favorite Disney restaurant?
'OHana for Breakfast, Sci Fi for the fun. DH, DS1&2 are celiac/gluten free and they eat like Kings at Disney!

8 Where are you staying?
Timeshare in Kissimmee

9. What souvenirs do you want to get?
T-shirts with the year for the boys, the Scrapbook with the year, an ornament with the year I also want to get a photopass, I can't believe I've never done that!

10. What fun things to you like to participate in? (crushed pennys, hidden mickeys, etc)
We love the Hidden Mickeys, the boys both collect crushed pennies (maybe the little one will this year!), the boys will be doing the Pirate League and if they still have it maybe Jedi Training at DHS. Hoping to do the Agent P Mission in Epcot, we got the passes last year (it was still Kim Possible) but never got to it!

11. Tell me your favorite HINT, TIP, or must see, or all three!
-Agree with easywdw for crowd predictions! If you don't have an app for wait times, get one-it helps. We're not big "touring plan" people, but it helps to have a tool or two like that to manage the parks.

-disboards, while they can be overwhelming, have SO much info. I had never heard of Pirate League, have gotten tons of info on GF dining, lots of tips... a great resource.

BEAR-MOM... disboards have a disABILITIES forum that has lots of information regarding wheel chairs in the parks, guest access passes, sources for rental, etc...

-If you're new and want to ride Toy Story Mania at DHS, get there very early and race to Fast Pass. That sucker runs out of fast passes by 10am and the regular lines go up to 2hrs. Insanity!

-Hidden Mickeys are a fun way to keep kids from going nuts while waiting on lines. I got a book at Barnes & Noble and we followed it. Fun!

-I have had to purchase an entire set of clothing at AK after Kali River Rapids TWICE! I always bring changes of clothes for the kids, but didn't learn my lesson for myself after the first time-wet underwear is awful and they don't sell ladies in the shops... Learn from my "commando" experience and either wrap yourself in plastic or bring a full change for yourself. Definitely bring a change for the kids, if mine don't get it on Kali, they go nuts with that crazy water fountian in Asia and need a full change.

-Make sure you have extra camera batteries. Remember "Lethal Weapon 2?" They **ck you a the drivethrough. We paid something like $16 for an 8pk of AA in AK, because that's what you do when you're a scrapper and you run out of camera batteries in Disney... and they know it!

So true! It is crazy because at Disneyland they don't even have fastpass for Toy Story Mania and the line was never as long as it gets at WDW.

on the walkway between Main Street and Tomorrowland, there is a little alcove where you can stand and get a great picture with the castle in the background. It is usually less crowded than trying to get one on Main Street.

I will also be going back in November with my entire extended family, but we haven't made any plans for that yet. My family is staying at the CBR for 10 days. I will just be joining them for a few days.

We are going on January 20th-so just 2 and a half weeks to go!

This trip is me, my DH, DS11, DD6 and my mom (73)

We are going for a week

Love Magic Kingdom-but really love them all!

I love Tower of Terror and ToyStory Mania, and Splash Mountain (who am I kidding-I love all of it!)

Mickey Bars are a family favorite!

We have enjoyed so many meals-we love O'Hana but this time we are trying Be Our Guest in the new Belle's castle and seeing the Luau. We can't wait!

Beacuse of my mom coming with us we are staying at the Fort Wilderness cabins and we have rented a golf cart to help us et around. We drive there and have our car so we do not need to rely on Disney transportation.

I like getting useful kitchen stuff-like Salt and Pepper shakers and potholders. I am hoping to get a trivet or memo pads.

My kids have done pin trading before and we like that as well as the crushed pennies.

For new visitors we tell them to go to Chef Mickey's for dnner and afterwards go on the balcony of the Contemporary and watch the fireworks. Also we like sitting in front of the Hall of President's for the parades-we always seem to get a good spot there. Another hint is to take glow sticks fo the parades and to put around stroller handles so it is easier to find them when it is dark.
Also take little snacks with you-not being super hungry helps avoid meltdowns!
For littler ones we have taken earplugs and it has helped my kids. Sometimes the noise of a ride makes them nervous even if the ride is not that scary. Also having a glowstick around them or to hold during a dark ride sometimes eases fears. Also for new vistiors or folks with young kids I suggest youtube-ing ride videos before you go so they can get an idea of what to expect.

FYI - if you are travelling 2/18-3/23 or 4/2-6/14 Disney just announced a new room/ticket discount today. I saved $288 on a 6 night/7 day trip with 6 day park hopper passes at Pop for me and dds (13 and 11).

Haven't been for so long! But my best tip is to ask for a map at the jungle cruise if they still have them. Very cool scrapbook

Aw, I feel left out, my DH and I went to WDW three weeks ago. It was our first "real" trip there--we had been to two Mickey Christmas Parties before, but this time we stayed on site for three days and did Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. We had a wonderful time...I am still reliving happy memories and smiling over them. I don't know when/if we'll ever go back, but I hope we will someday soon.

I hope all you 2013 travelers have a magical time!

ETA: Shecrafty2--I got a very cute Minnie memo pad with a pencil for making kitchen lists, grocery lists, etc., at the big central gift store at Epcot. They had lots of cute kitchen stuff...I got a great-looking cookbook, too.

Can I still play even though I'm going to Disneyland, not WDW?

1. When are YOU going? (this year?)

First week of October..... so far away. But then I was just there 3 weeks ago

2. Who are you going with?

Me, DH, DD, SIL and some of her friends.

3. How long will you be going for?

Only 2 days

4. What parks are your favorites?

First Disneyland
Second California Adventure
Third - all the parks at WDW - lol

5. What rides are your favorite?

Soaring Over California, Toy Story Mania, Radiator Springs

6. What is your must to "disney" treat?

Chocolate covered Mickey Mouse ice cream bar

7. Favorite Disney restaurant?

I'm simple - Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney! Oh, and beignets!!! Yum!!! Not sure where you get them at WDW, but I"m sure they are there! Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney here in Disneyland.

8 Where are you staying?

Candy Cane Inn, but a few weeks ago we stayed at Grand Californian - my fav!

9. What souvenirs do you want to get?

I get a xmas ornament every year. I also collect pins, but don't trade.

10. What fun things to you like to participate in? (crushed pennys, hidden mickeys, etc)

I do collect crushed pennies!

11. Tell me your favorite HINT, TIP, or must see, or all three!

Hint - bring in some of your own snacks. Go into the park when they open - get there before they open. See some of the entertainment there - I'm not sure about WDW, but we like Billy Hill and the Hill Billies, and the barbershop quartet, the ragtime piano player,

Now my turn for a question: anyone ever gone with someone in a wheelchair? My mom has arthritis in her knee and just developed planter facities and a bone spur in her foot. I am thinking of renting her a wheelchair for our trip - it will be her first trip ever and I don't think she understands the extent of walking/standing. Tips? suggestions?

I took my mom to WDW and she was in a wheelchair. Disney really rolled put the red carpet for us and made sure we got on and off rides as easily as possible. There should also be designated seating for parades and shows and some rides will have a different entrance.

My mom had her own chair but I know at DL they will not let you take the rental chairs past security (I.e. you can't take the chairs to downtown Disney or the parking lots). Not sure how it works if renting at WDW. Probably worth looking into renting a wheelchair at the parks vs. renting elsewhere.

We are taking the kids in August, and I *might* be going in April with my 18 yr old. Her choir has been invited to a festival, and if I can afford to go, I am going as a chaperone...waiting to see.

We ALWAYS get ears...and I'm now buying a bead for each trip for a charm bracelet- just an inexpensive bead...When hubby and I went Aug 2012, I bought a $5.00 mickey head bead full of red glitter. So cute.

I want to be sure to go to the Spirit of the Lion King with the kids. I KNOW they will love it...and take them to O'Hana to eat.

We are going Jan 20-23
I am going with my DH, our DD (6.5 yrs), my niece (32 yrs) and her DD (5 yrs)
I've never been before, but I am guessing that magic & animal kingdom s will be our favorites.
Rides - I've heard Soarin' is pretty cool...I am not much of a ride person...I am definitely looking forward to the safari at AK - anyone have any tips for doing that?
We are eating at the castle the first night, at an Irish pub one night, and I don't remember where else (?)
We are staying at the port Orleans French qtr
I think we will do the crushed pennies and an autograph book

I have no tips, other than the easywdw site seems chock-o-block full of information. I'm thinking I will just have to try not to be overwhelmed - I'm an introvert who works from home, so this will be a new experience!!! I think I might be more excited about this than my dd is!

I was in Disney World 3 years ago with a healing broken leg....used a electric cart in the parks since I was still in a leg brace. I rented each day...$50 a day (cheaper outside of park for folks who need cart full time). It worked well, but it is a bit difficult in crowds. People just walk in front of you without warning. The cart has no brake...stops when you release the pedal. Using a cart does not give you any line priority...most rides I just joined in the line with my cart and rode with everyone through the line.

I'm actually just marking this thread so that I can come back to it later (exhausted/gotta work tomorrow).

We have annual passes b/c we live a couple of hours from WDW. We went to the parks probably 4-5x this past year and the waterparks even more often during the summer. Our friends are Disney FREAKS; they go at LEAST once a month (they're DVC members). We went SOLELY for the Osborne Family Lights one time this past month. I'm not CRAZY about Disney, but DH has gotten hooked.

I def. want to offer whatever advice I'm able, when I've had time to think on this and am more alert.

Until then, DisBoards.net and AllEars.net for sure. Although even the employees will tell you that the online menus aren't / can't stay completely current with what they've really got, I've found that they're pretty close.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! 'Very excited for all who will be traveling to the House of Mouse this year.

Blessings,
{Melissa}

1. When are YOU going? (this year?) Disneyland in Feb with girlfriends. Disneyland in April with my daughter. WDW in fall with husband.
2. Who are you going with?
3. How long will you be going for? A few days in Dland. A week in WDW
4. What parks are your favorites? DLand is the BEST! The original!
5. What rides are your favorite? The classics: Pirates. Small World. But the new Radiator Springs Racer in Cars Land is outstanding.
6. What is your must to "disney" treat? Churro. Corn Dog from the Red Wagon. Fish & Chips from England in Epcot is a favorite. The caramel shop in Germany--don't miss that.
7. Favorite Disney restaurant? Be Our Guest at WDW/New Fantasyland
8 Where are you staying? Dland Hotel. Timeshare condo in Orlando.
9. What souvenirs do you want to get?
10. What fun things to you like to participate in? (crushed pennys, hidden mickeys, etc) Love it all.
11. Tell me your favorite HINT, TIP, or must see, or all three Best Tip: get yourself over to the Disboards. It was made for people like you. And me

Serious tip--don't try to cram too much in and over plan. Things take longer than you imagine. Leave time to just absorb the atmosphere and resort. Oh, and you really don't need that $300 Mickey cashmere sweater. Really.

I've taken DD in a wheelchair as a teenager to Disneyland.
It's not difficult to get around or do the rides. They have a separate entrance to lots of the rides for people on wheelchairs and others with disabilities. You can get the map with all the info at the gate.

We live 20 minutes from Disneyland and go often. Very often.

1 Going to WDW in August (from the UK)
2 Husband and 2 teens
3 Staying 2 Weeks PLUS one week at Universal Hard Rock Hotel
4 My favourite park is Hollywood Studios (and it used to be my least favourite)
5 Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror
6 An ice cream cone on Main Street
7 Tutto Italiano in Epcot World Showcase
8 Staying at the Yacht Club - We have previously stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort, Coronado Springs Resort and the Animal Kingdom Lodge - all of them were brilliant.
9 I like to buy a Christmas ornament and a Disney Scrapbook with the metal WDW logo on the front
10 We've done the crushed pennies, Hidden Mickeys and Pin Trading. Might just relax and take it easy this time.
11 Drink plenty water, ride the attractions during parades, especially during the parade and Wishes fireworks in the Magic Kingdom.

I was looking at Cmpeter's tip and wasn't aware that you could use a fastpass after the time expiration unless the ride breaks down and you cannot ride it during your alloted time. We've always had our fastpass times checked when we return to ride.

Hope everyone enjoys their Disney holidays this year. We save to come every two years and it's the highpoint of our year. I fear this tradition has almost come to an end as the kids are so old now and will probably want to do their own thing in the next few years.

worrywort~ That's only for Disneyland that you can use it after the printed time. For years you could do the same at Disney World...but starting in March of this past year they started strictly enforcing the printed times. We've taken 3 trips since then ( we're annual passholders) and I definitely had to revamp my whole plan....but we've gotten used to it now.

1. When are YOU going? We just got back from WDW 3 days ago.

2. Who are you going with? DH and kids

3. How long will you be going for? 5 days

4. What parks are your favorites? Magic Kingdom

5. What rides are your favorite? Soarin, Fast track, and Buzz Lightyear.

6. What is your must to "disney" treat? Hot cocoa on Mainstreet.

7. Favorite Disney restaurant? Crystal Palace, although DH likes the French place at Epcot.

8 Where are you staying? Marriott (free)

9. What souvenirs do you want to get? Scrapbook

11. Tell me your favorite HINT, TIP, or must see, or all three Best Tip - Check wait times on Disney app. The longest we waited in any line (and this was one of the busiest times of the year) was 30 minutes. Most were about 10-15 minutes, including Space Mountain, Fast track, and Thunder Mountain.

Go late in the day. A lot of the families are heading home with tired, cranky kids.

If you watch the parade, leave a minute or two before it ends and get in line for your ride. You will beat most everyone.

Buy kid's meals, even for adults. It's more than enough food.

Bring a poncho or small umbrella.
