Mrs Tyler your district is one of the few...

When $$$ is cut those services are the first cut in 95% of school districts.

I believe the first person shot in the red lake MN shooting was the guard. I am not sure if he was armed, but it didn't really matter.

Just doing a quick check, and trying not to count double posts, it totals out to be approx:
60 = No votes
9 = yes votes
SO the yes voters are the MINORITY here, so please quit posting repeatedly trying to convince the rest of us that we need guns in school, when it is more than apparent that the MAJORITY do not feel this is an appropriate response to our current gun problem.

I'm willing to pay more taxes for a lot of things, but armed guards in schools isn't and won't ever be one of them.

Who appointed you board police? Should we just review the tenor of a thread and realize we are forbidden to post a minority view? Why are you threatened by hearing a different point of view?

Still waiting for those saying that putting SRO's in schools is not the answer and those saying that the idea that what stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun is BS - what are your answers to keep our kids safe? Tomorrow. Next week. Next year.

Gun control not more guns, and your response was expected, as usual, despite the fact that you are not convincing anyone that more guns are needed.. Have a great night trying to convince someone else, I'm sure it's working!

The whole rationale of the NRA "the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" is BS!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay. So how do you stop a bad guy with a gun? Like, tomorrow? Next week? Next fall? Practically speaking, how would you do that? I'm assuming if their method is "BS" you have a superior method to immediately stop bad guys with guns.

No, I absolutely don't have a more superior method. I sure wish I did.

I'd rather spend money fixing the problem. More money to mental health programs, more money to make schools more secure (without guns).

On NYE there was a shooting at a bar near where I live. 2 people died. There was an armed guard at the bar. Didn't stop the gunman from killing them.

In have a teacher FB page and asked them a few weeks ago what they think needs to happen...all but one were in favor of armed guards, metal detectors and anything necessary to protect the school.
I found that amazing...most people don't bother to ask the kids what they want/need...maybe if we pull young people into the discussions we might see some real change and ideas

(I teach hs)

Actually I wonder if a packing teacher might b more effective. The shooter would have no idea which ones were packing-obviously a single guard might not work. Why all of this scenarios when the problem us mental health??? Why can't we approach that FIRST ?

Mrs. T, I want to be honest with you, and I don't mean this to put you down, because I truly believe you don't see how condescending you are when you say things like "Obviously you need help with reading comprehension" or "send the liberals off to an island," even if you are joking. It doesn't come off as being joking, it comes off as being holier-than-thou. I know others do it too, but seriously, people don't want to engage with you because it's the same old "if you don't agree with me there is obviously something wrong with you" thing.

Again, sorry if you are offended, and I'm sure you'll blow this off, but I don't mean it as a put down. Often times I don't notice how I come across and a friend will come along and say, "WTF?"

I'm going to bed, and I wish you all a safe and prosperous new year.

Could not be said better. ITA.

I will pay more to ensure gun control measures are put into place for PREVENTION. I will pay more for better teachers and better education. I will pay more for more arts and music funding. I will pay more for better health care. I will pay more to help get hungry homeless people off the streets...

But to put a man or woman with a gun at our school. No way. No how. Bottom of the priority list.

OK. Newbie. This is how it works. If your post consists of 80% sanity, 10% stupidity and 10% all kinds of crazy, we immediately focus on the 20% b/c it discredits the 80%.
