I have gone solo to crops before, and it usually works out just fine. Look for the friendly faces and sit with them. It was either go solo or never go anywhere.
We recently moved to a very small town where there is no LSS,and I haven't found one person who scraps here. I asked a lady in the bank if she scrapped or knew anyone who did,and she said,"What is scrapping?"
So it is just me and the cat cropping! LOL!

Yes, I have twice in the past few months. I have decided I won't do it again. It is expensive - the cost of the crop, travel and the hotel, and I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought. While the women were "nice", cordial and sort of friendly, I found that most of them came with someone and they had their own "clique". They sat together, ate together, went out together, and didn't seem open to including me. I was hoping to get to know some people as I am new to Florida, but didn't. I asked a few women about going out to dinner but they seemed to already have plans so I went out alone.
I also found that I brought a lot of "stuff", not knowing what I would need, and of course it wasn't quite what I needed! I am just not that organized. The people I saw that accomplished a lot came with projects in mind, one gal was VERY organized (she sat across from me)even had her paper & photos already grouped together, she scrapped a TON on the weekend.
I enjoyed seeing the creativity among the women. They were amazing! I saw so many wonderful layouts and other projects I was in awe. I am pretty limited on what I scrap. I only do 12 X 12 album, and only one subject, but am challenged on getting much done. I guess I just like the idea of scrapbooking!
Bottom line, I won't go to another weekend crop but do enjoy cropping with other people who live near me, if I could just find them!
I think I am the odd one out though. | |
