I used to buy DCWV stacks whenever they went on sale (back when all my scrapping supplies fitted in an underbed storage box) and now I have a 6 inch high stack of different coloured cardstock taking up valuable space
I use it to make card bases, but only make 1 or 2 cards a month so that won't make a dent in my stash any time soon.
I have tried to come up with ways to incorporate CS elements into my pages but I don't like the 'flatness' of it and usually end up swapping it out for a patterned paper die cut or a pre-made embellishment When I use CS for a background I prefer white or kraft. Whenever I try to use a coloured cardstock background it ends up looking like a layout from 1999 (minus the sticker sneeze!). I want some ideas for using my stash of CS! | |

How about using it for borders? You could stamp on the borders as well. Use it as a background and stamp on it to make your own patterned paper. Use paint or mists on it. Just play around with it and try different things. I am not a fan either but have tried this stuff and am pleased with the results. You could cut it up and use it for layers as a pop of colour too. I am curious to hear what GG has to say. |

I have loads of DCWV cardstock too. One thing I do is to use it to 'frame' a page. I trim my patterned paper background to 11x11, round the corners and centre it on the cardstock to give a contrasting border around the edge of the page. |

I have the opposite problem! I am always needing card stock! I usually buy bazzill or as AC crafts texture cs and I can't get them locally so it seems I'm always running out of the color I need! But I do use cs almost always for a base and layers from there. |

Yes, I would like to see a GG vid on using cardstock. It used to be a staple on all my layouts and I find I use it less and less. In fact a stack of those DCWV paper pads sitting on the shelf caught my eye just the other day and I thought to myself how I should start using them. |

If the cardstock has a smooth side you could try using it with journalling stamps and then cut around them to create die cut journalling shapes. Also could pair it with frame stamps and hand cut them out for embellishments.  | |

I just put about 10 inches of cardstock away because I haven't touched it in years and I don't think I will soon. I don't want to force myself to use something I don't like! I kept out about an inch of cardstock I still like - mostly whites, off-white, plus a few paler colours.

Use cardstock as a base for a mini album -- there are "M" cut sorts and lots of other folding types minis. We commonly decorate the pages anyway, but you need a stronger base to start with. I create "box" type albums -- I love that "multi-layered box" .... or an exploding albums that starts with pages on the diagonal. I start smaller albums of all types on a cardstock base.
Use cardstock for envelopes -- to use for the infrequent cards -- but also for scrapbook pages -- you can make all sorts of envelopes to hide journaling in or just use as an additional embellishment layer on a page.
Or create library envelopes -- tuck journaing cards or embellishment base.

I use cardstock for my background paper almost always. But it can look a little flat. Try misting it, or inking the edges, or stenciling on it. |

I take any cardstock that I think I'll never use (kelly green most recently) and back a thinner piece of patterned paper to give it more stability. It's a great way to use up stash. I've also been flipping over pattern paper and using the back as white cardstock when I don't care for the paper. Once you put a your layouts back to back in sheet protectors, no one but you would ever know.

I used to have some DCWV cardstock and some WM stacks, but I use them up fast! I think right now I have a Bazzill pack from LSS that was several neutral colors.
My thing is that I have always liked different colors of cardstock for backgrounds, but I usually layer trendy pattern paper that has a matching or coordinating color on top of it somewhere. I also have started with PP as a background and cut some cardstock to layer on it. And scraps of it are a good thing to add dimension to stickers.

I saw on a blog recently that a scrapper -probably Shimelle, I don't remember though! - used CS to back LOs that were made out of pp for more stability in her albums. I thought it was interesting because I've been using pp as backgrounds more often than cs these days. |

I just was thinking about how I used to never know how to use patterned paper and then I 'met' Glitter Girl. That issue has been handled thanks to her!
Now I have lots of card stock I don't use. I have matted photos/layouts and as a background to a journaling spot. (which I think has been mention)
So today I challenged myself to do a layout using BLACK card stock - yikes. I did it - looks ok. But that's why we come her to be challenge!
