I have no local stores to buy scrapbook supplies in. Does anyone share my frustration?

I live out in the middle of no where.

My nearest Walmart is 35 miles away (70 miles round trip!) and doesn't carry actual scrapbooking supplies. I can get white cardstock & double sided tape there in the office supplies section, but that's it.

It is more than a 100 mile round trip to go to Target, Michael's, Joann's, Hobby LObby, or A.C. Moore!

Everything I get, I have to order online. Which isn't too bad, except for those times when you really, really want to go shopping and have the product in your hands that same day.

I am just so frustrated right now. I just want to hop in the car and be able to get to a store in less than a half hour, go shopping, and bring home goodies.

Are there any other peas that don't have scrappy goodness right in their reach?

I totally feel your frustration I live in a really small town we don't even have a traffic light lol but we did have a great LSS but it closed last spring. That summer the LSS in the city that is closest to me closed too which was an hour away one way! So now if I want something scrappy I have to resort to Michaels which is in the same city or a really lame LSS that has such a poor selection I refuse to go there anymore ( I gave them a few chances but it was just sad!). I now have to order scrappy stuff online I do a lot of shopping here at 2 peas and they have an awesome site but between waiting for stuff to get here and not being able to touch stuff and see it in person first, shopping just isn't as much fun if you kwim.

No worries. 2peas is always handy!

I live about 3 minutes from Michaels and while I go there to walk amongst the craftiness about once a week, I don't shop for much in the way of scrapbooking there.

We have an Archiver's about a half hour away. I go there about three times a year. I get overwhelmed there.

Nashville has ZERO independent scrapbook stores. The one in Mt Juliet announced it's closing last week. There's one in Murfreesboro which is about an hour away but that I haven't been to in years. They misled me about some product that they "had" so I've never felt led to go back. They are up for sale. I don't expect they will stay open much longer.

It's funny but the scrapbook store that gets most of my LSS dollars is 650 miles from my house! My sister lives in Tyler TX and when I go to her house, I *always* visit The Scrap Spot there. It's an awesome LSS!

I get your frustration completely!
I live in the middle of nowhere. Wal-Mart is th closet thing to us - and even that is a half hour away!

The only way for me to get to a craft store is to drive about an hour and a half out of my way, paying a toll of $18. Even then - the local scrapbook store that was around Michaels and Hobby Lobby has closed down!

I order the majority of my things online.
A trip to Michaels is like a trip to Disney world for me.

When I first joined 2 peas, Walmart was 35 miles away and a new LSS was 35 miles away. Colorado Springs with all kinds of places to shop was 65 miles away.

Now, Walmart is 3.9 miles away but the scrapbooking store is 75 and HL is 80 miles away. But I only go to that city maybe once a year. I go to El Paso once a year in March where I have HL, M's, and Joanns but apparently no scrapbooking store. I keep asking the peas but no one comes up with one for me. I've already started my list of things I need!

I feel your pain. We did have a small scrapbooking store here but it closed 3 years ago next month. I miss being able to buy the color cardstock I need RIGHT now and be able to see it first.

I understand. The closest LSS is about an hour one way away from where I live. We have michaels, Beverly's and joann 1/2 hour away, but none of them has huge scrapbook sections.

I don't live out in the middle of nowhere, but do have to drive 1-1/2 hours to the local scrapbook store. I do have M's within 30 minutes. AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, and Joanns are about an hours drive.

The one scrapbook store that I is a 2-1/2 hour drive one way. I am crazy enough to go about 4 times a year and have to drive straight through downtown Boston to get there, but it's worth it! I just put on my adventure shoes and go for it!

What about the stamping store there?

Also, this is the facebook page for Pizzaz El Paso and although it is not a scrapbook store per se, they have a lot of scrapbook supplies.

SBArtist1 how hard is it for you to get to another island? I found two fabulous scrap stores in your state, Island Scrapbooking in Hilo and http://www.islandpaperie.com/ in Kahilui.

I found them on Scrapbook store locator and they were both still open in May 2012

There isn't much local to me either, although my selection is not nearly as limited as yours! I am really jealous of people who have an Archivers or great LSS. Two Peas is amazing, but they don't always have everything I need.

LindaBabe54 - I have been to Island Paperie on Maui (that was a couple years ago while we were on vacation from the mainland).

I can order online from JoAnns, but they certainly are not the quickest shippers (even on the mainland for that matter). I was spoiled working and living close to two M's and a J's, plus a 30 minute trip to my favorite LSS, and my scrapping friends. I gave up all of that for "paradise".

And most places do not offer "FREE" shipping to Hawaii even though Hawaii is part of the United States.

It is more than a 100 mile round trip to go to Target, Michael's, Joann's, Hobby LObby, or A.C. Moore!

May God strike me dead if I ever complain about being 3 hours away from an Archivers ever again! At our main home, we have two Targets and two Michaels within a 3 mile radius. Move that to a 6 mile radius and it becomes FIVE Targets, four Michaels, one Jo-Anns, Hobby Lobby and A.C. Moore. And I have actually complained about going 6 miles to Jo-Anns. Ducking head in shame.

I'm in the same boat. There is a Hobby Lobby two towns over from me to the west. And a Michael's two towns down to the south of me. It's really cheaper for me to order on line and let them bring it to my door. I can get tape and glue, and some paper at our Wal-Mart. But that's about it.

Some times I just like to go and look. But I end up having to eat out and buy gas. So there goes my saving on anything on sale. When I do go, I usually stock up.

35 miles to HL or M's, and no LSS within about 2.5 hours of here that I know of. I am actually planning a trip in a month or two down to Baton Rouge. I think I have a pretty good shot at finding an LSS there. Sometimes I just want to hold good quality paper and embellies in my hand before I buy them, KWIM?

But for the most part, I have learned the brands that I love and 2peas is totally my LSS!

There is a WM about 8 miles away. J's is 35 minutes & small.

M's & ACM are minimum 1 & 1/2 hours away in a few different directions.

The LSSs were the same distance as M's & ACM. The best one was almost 2 hours away & it closed too.

So the only scrappy shopping I get to do is on-line.

I will never complain again. I promise. I have NINE stores within about five miles of me that I can purchase scrappy supplies from. Archivers is just a few miles away and most of the other stores are lined up fairly close together. Only one LLS (that would be TEN) but their selection is quite limited so I just avoid it. Somehow I still manage to shop online

Ok... I'm not trying to be mean, but this is the first time I am going to purposely say, "na na boo boo" on here.

I used to live in a tiny hick town in Nebraska. 2 hours to Omaha where there were actual scrapbook stores. Over an hour to the ones in Sioux city but they both closed down. (I worked at both!)

Norfolk had a hobby lobby, but meh.... it was always out of basics. They never kept it properly stocked. Drove me nuts!

I ordered online all the time, and when I did? I "over- ordered" because I was scared of running out, or when I did finally make it to Omaha, I went bat shat crazy and was caught fondling the supplies.

NOW? I have a hobby lobby 10 min. away, hannahs is 10 minutes away (good scrapbook store), Archivers and Michaels in gurnee which is 15-20 min. away.

I AM IN HEAVEN!!!

If I want anything current I have to settle for shopping online and hope I like the products when they arrive. It stinks.

To the gal who lives in HI: Have you been to the Ace Hardware store in Kauai? I know that is a jump, but when/if you are over there, check it out! I was really surprised to find they have a fairly large scrapbook section, and some of the prettiest oriental paper I have ever seen! (go figure crafts in a hardware store!) It is in the downtown area near the airport.

Now, what is LSS? so many abbreviations, I have no clue! (Guess I have never seen a LSS) I have been fortunate to live in big cities where there were scrapbook stores, or I went to a Scrapbook Expo where I found all kinds of goodies. Recently I was at an amazing scrapbook store in St. Petersburg FL, if you are ever there, you have to check it out, one of the nicest places I have ever seen! Hobby Lobby has a limited chain so I have only been once and it seems to me their selection is on par with a JoAnn's or Michaels.

Sad to see this economy hit so many small scrapbook stores. The rents are so high they just don't seem to be able to sell enough "stuff" to keep them going. If you live in Florida or near Florida, I can recommend some places in central Florida. Savannah, GA has a few places, even Hilton Head Island in SC has a scrapbook place (or used to). Guess I will have to pick where I live by where the scrapbook stores are huh!

I buy a lot of paper from S.E.I., I love their paper! If you like glitter, try Sparkle n'Sprinkle in Florida - they sell by mail as well. Some of the nicest, fine glitter I have ever seen! Every color in the rainbow.

Here's a suggestion; post online looking for fellow scrappers.(try craigslist or meetup) Maybe you can find some other people in your area you could either scrap with or do a swap. Most scrappers have enough "stuff" they could open their own store! Also, save up your money and go to a Scrapbook Expo! Shop till you drop! Also Creating Keepsakes has a scrap expo, those scrap expos are fantastic! the shopping is amazing, everything in one place and stuff you don't normally see in the the craft stores.

Positive note: Just think of all the money you are saving!

I was just like that for 7 years when I lived in TX. I would drive to San Antonio Texas (almost 3 hours away) and the scrapbooking stores would roll their eyes when I would ask about new products. That is how I got here, then I stopped for a little while because I became a CTMH consultant. But I didn't like to be limited of what products to use and forget about finding a good sale. I moved and lived in Wichita Falls for 2 years and loved the awesome LSS they had there. i live in Tucson now. My LSS is an online store. I'm loving to cherry pick a collection and place orders at Twopeas now more than having an LSS. I don't have to drive I can spend hours and days window shopping and I have a good excuse to spend 50 dollars in scrapbooking stuff: free shipping You honestly might end up spending less if you learn to be patient and place a 50 dollar order. I don't have an over abundance of paper that I kind of like anymore. Everything I have right now I totally LOVE that is making me a better scrapper.

I have to say that I still have a LSS but I never find anything there I want and the same with Ms or T or Js so I always end up buying on-line. I have to say I miss the days of shopping at a good LSS but it has been more than 5 years and I live in a big city (I think we lost 7 stores in the last decade). I know I complain but I guess I could still go into our store once in a while - I maybe go in once a year compared to years ago when I would go in once a week before the new owner. I know I get frustrated but I guess I should still consider myself lucky even if I buy 95% of my stuff on-line.

Wow, I'm so glad I'm not alone on this..lol I don't have no LSS or any other craft store any where close by me. In order to even get to the closest Michael, I have to make it a day event So I do alot of online shopping and just hope what I receive is what I really wanted.
