I'm using WRMK album, Becky Higgins Design A page protectors, BH 3x4 plain journaling cards, and the Simple Stories Sn@p! line.
I'm actually surprised at myself because I'm super busy all the time but I actually sat down Saturday and got caught up through then. For Sun/Mon I have a photo and a receipt, just not journaled yet.
I'm keeping mine really basic with not a lot of embellishment, just some washi or ribbon, and handwritten journaling. I was surprised at how quickly it came together.
Downsides so far:
The Sn@p 3x4 cards are slightly too big to fit in the BH protectors so I have to cut a sliver off and round the corners.
The BH 3x4 cards look significantly smaller when in a slot next to the Sn@p cards. I feel like I need to cut the Sn@p cards down even more to make them match - but then I lose valuable journaling space, lol.
Upsides:
I'm loving printing straight from iPhone to my Epson Artisan printer using the Epson app!
I already love looking at my pages! And the kids loved them too. Even though my entries are really simple
Okay, check in ya'll!! Are you caught up, behind, not even started? What is going good and what do you not like so much?
Would love to hear from other PL newbs!! |

This is my first foray into PL. I have the pics and the memorabilia but have not decided on what album to use - yet. Waiting for Seafoam or Olive or both kits. I'm debating on whether to even order the kit(s) because I have a lot of supplies. But...I haven't touched those supplies in such a long time that it might prevent me from going ahead with this.
My older son is graduating from college this year. It's high time he sees some completed scrapbooks!

I got my first week done Sunday night! It was fun.
I'm using a WRMK album, BH A and D pages (and G for the occasional insert), and anything I feel like for cards (this week striped cards from Cobalt and grid cards with multi-colored arrow washi across the top). Simple and fast.
I printed my photos at home. I used PhotoSheet to make a lot of them 3x4 or smaller, and still had four pages worth! I take a lot of pictures and it was hard to narrow it down.
I handwrote the date and all the journaling. That helped make it a lot faster. I also used the clear number stickers that came with the Cobalt kit when I bought it (I think they're separate now) to number each photo to correspond with my journaling.
As simple and unembellished as it was, I think this could be my family's favorite album! Everyone loved looking at it, and that it was current. |

Ok, I just took another step and printed off some test Instagram pics through the Walgreens app.
Reading the other replies reminded me that I need to think about the page protectors I'll be using. Not sure yet but if I'm happy with the prints from IG, then I might be printing all of my pics and do an additional PL 2012.

I am waiting on my page protectors to come in. They should be here in a couple of days. I got my core kit in on Friday but I was out of town. I have printed a few pictures using my iphone and Selphy, but realized the page protecters (style A) I got the pictures need to be 4x6 or 3x4 so I need to reprint the pictures and remember this when taking pictures. I have a few things for last week such as a ticket stub and notes for journaling. I am probably going to sit down and do my journaling so I can have it ready for the page protectors. I am using a weekly planner for my day to day notes to make it easier when I sit down each week to put everything together.
What page protectors is everyone using? I am thinking of using A and D so I can use 4x6 and 6x4 pictures. |

I'm not a newbie, but I'm feeling antsy for my 2013 supplies to show up!! I pre-ordered (from the Canadian distributor) the Seafoam kit and albums back in October, along with several other items, and JUST got an e-mail this morning that the last of my items -- the albums -- shipped from WRMK to the distributor on Friday, and may be there by this Friday. The shipping has always been fast once items are in stock, so I'm excited. In the meantime, I've been doing some catch-up on pages from 2012. This past week has not been an exciting one in terms of scrap-worthy stuff, but I did make sure I had at least 7 photos and took a few notes -- though I want to print out some of Marcy Penner's planner pages to get myself more organized. My kit, page protectors and albums arrived on Jan. 17 last year (yes, the date is recorded in my PL 2012!), and I got caught up quickly, so I'm not too anxious about doing that again this year. For 2014, I plan to purchase one of the kits that are releasing this spring (probably Honey, though I like Jade and Kraft as well), so I won't be starting "behind" next January. I need to stock up on journaling pens too; I have gone through them like crazy this year!

I have been recording what has been going on and taking pictures but haven't actually made pages yet...........I just decided to do this at the last minute and I am trying to make up my mind which line to use, or go for freebies or make my own to start. At least the hard part is done just doing the pages won't be that difficult. |

I'm not completely a newbie but this is my first full year. Last year I sort of started in the fall.
I am not doing PL the normal way because well it's just hubby & I now that we are empty nesters so the thought of adding something everyday seems pretty hard. I usually have an album for each grandchild and one for family pictures. Well, this year grandbaby #5 will arrive so a book for each is just getting too difficult. That's when I came up with the idea to just have yearly albums. I plan on using page protectors of all sizes in my books. Some will be as small as 5x7 up to full 12x12 pages. I will add full size layouts along with the PL type pages, too. I will use those a lot for those cell phone pics of the grandkids that I keep begging all the kids to send me more often. A lot of those pictures are just not enough to put on a full size 12x12.
That's my idea, anyway. I sort of did that for fall last year & I love it. My granddaughter loves looking at the album and seeing her everyday stuff.
I haven't started yet, though. I was admitted to the hospital on New Years Eve and had to have surgery on Jan. 2nd. I'm hoping to feel better enough to start really soon. I purchased a ton of SNAP products and also plan on using all my other scrapbook supplies.
I'm actually really excited about scrapping again |

I'm loving it so far. I'm had my first batch of pictures printed Friday. I got the journaling done for the weekend so when I get this weeks pictures on Friday I just have to slip them in.
I didn't buy a core kit. Just using papers from my stash. Seems like a good way to use up my 6x6 paper pads.
I'm also a nerd and have a spreadsheet with everything mapped out. |

This is my second year doing PL. Last year though, I didn't start until April and I did skip weeks here and there. We just got back from vacation and looking forward to having some time over the next day or two to get started. THis method has so dramatically decreased my stress over scrapping. SO much get documented and I tend to see the little things with more detail tham scrapping in a 12 x 12 LO. I do throw some 12X12's in my PL book though. |

I'm doing mine digitally, which is a huge difference for me since I'm normally a paper scrapper. Mine is super simple, but here it is:
Project Life
I'm using the cobalt kit, and some free elements I've picked up over the web, along with templates from twopeas.
I decided on digital since I knew if I did it in paper I would fail as I wouldn't get photos printed often enough. I've been sitting at the computer every night and taking 5-20 minutes to write journaling for the day. It worked last week, so I'm hoping it works going forward as well. |

Not real happy with it, but eh, moving on so I can hopefully improve today I cut a bunch of tags and speech bubbles with my cameo and now I have a stash to use for future weeks. I'm looking for some more words & phrases to put in speech bubbles and banners. Any suggestions??

In regards to PL 2013 I am a newbie, but am waiting for my SC Main Kit and PL kit to come in to get started. I've got pictures for every day so far, and various ephemera from the week. I'll be using the camera AT album and WRMK page protectors. My concern is the ephemera. For things like ticket stubs and receipts do they need archival spray?
Thank you to those who have shared your work. Inspiring .

Last night I sat down and started putting mine together. I got a WRMK from Michaels last night and I had a set of design A sheet protectors. I have my title page done and half of week 1. We were out of town visiting family and didn't get many pictures last week so not many pictures to put in week 1. I am improvising by using a snapshot of the weather and top news headlines. This week I am getting my supplies organized and setting up an area for me. I will take pictures of what I am doing. I got a Selphy printer last week so that will be another picture since it will be the main part of PL. We have such a boring life so some weeks are going to be hard for me to do. I have been thinking of ideas or weekly themes to make it easier. I will be dedicating 1 week to each of my kids and documenting what they are doing and about them. I may do this a couple of times just to see how they have changed over the year. I think having a weekly theme will help make each week easier. That means I need to think of 44 more themes since we are in week 2 and I have decided to do 2 weeks for each of my kids. Time for brainstorming. |

I am trying PL for the first time using a SN@P binder/page protectors. Week 1 is done, took longer than I'd hoped, but that was because I completely forgot I would need a title page so I hadn't even thought what would go there - in fact it was only one slot of the title page that gave me problems till i figured out what i could put in it but it's done now. I have realised that I take very few photos so I need to make much more effort to do that, but week 2 should be ok as there are two bigger things happening (day trip & an evening event) so they will fill most of the slots

My first time doing this since I completed Project 365 in 2009. This year I am doing a modified Project Life - a weekly layout with 1, 2 or 3 photos, in a Sn@p binder. One pocket page and one full 6x8 page per week.
In one way, this takes the pressure off. However, WITHOUT the pressure, I'm not taking very many photos so far, and I need to push myself to stay focused.
I'm single with no children/grandchildren (unless you count cats - and I do! two of 'em) and I have some mobility issues so I don't get out-and-about as much as I'd like to. I'm hoping this project pushes me to get out more and take more photos.

Got lots of good info on Susan Weinworth's blog. Will order the Becky Higgins pages and already got an album from Target. Have been taking pictures too! I just need to figure out how to make photos smaller than 4x6. I don't want to just cut them down because the picture won't be as close up.

TPGirl - I like your page. I might lift the idea of using pics of all of us for the title page.
I printed my photos - I thought that I would remember why I took them all but of course now that I am ready to sit down and work on the pages, I dont remember all the little details that I wanted to. So now I know that I have to journal a little bit through out the week.
I have been sick and yesterday I found out that I have pneumonia so I haven't actually put anything onto paper or in page protectors.
I just got some supplies in the mail today and I plan on at least putting all the stuff for PL together in a sort of kit. I got the EP Photo Freedom mini kits and I am in love! |

I did Project 365 for 6 months back in 2009. I still have the left over page protectors and will be using those for now. I also just purchased two packs of Design A page protectors.
My original plan was to make a different color theme for each month..ie Blue/Gray for January and red for February. I really love the Becky Higgins Seafoam core kit.Still debating!

jenettycakes76 - I also struggle with artistic style. That is the reason I come and go with scrapbooking. I get the urge do it for a while and then stop again. I still haven't done my 4 year old's 1st year album. I like the simplicity of PL and it is so much easier to do.

This is my first time doing this and I am loving it so far! I don't have a ton of money to spend of scrapping so I am doing mine a little different. I bought the ac memorology 12x12 sheet protectors ( they have 6 4x6 spots) I then took black cardstock and made 4x6 sheets for the 2 middle spots so I can adhere my 3x4 card to them for the middle. I am close to m's so I've been getting a 10 pack for 2.50 when I am near there. I also am making my 3x4 cards using stash.
I also print my pics at a store so I have an app on my phone that I save the picture I am going to use for the day so I have been doing the journaling portion and every couple weeks when I print the pictures I just will slide them in the spots. This way I won't get behind waiting to print pictures. Ive also been journaling a bit each day so I can refer to that.

The page was actually finished before I knew it. I spent more time looking through all my goodies than I did actually completing the page.
I'm glad I decided to take this project on!! !!!!!

Total newbie... Been thinking about it for months and bought supplies and sat down today to start printing and thought " I'm never going to get this done if its not digital." So I bought a digi kit and made my inserts and will print those and put them in the WRMK pages. I already had those page protectors and want to use them up. Kinda think if I used a BH kit with the 4x3 pockets I could stick to paper. But I'll see how this goes. Not sure why I was overwhelmed to start, but glad I did!

I'm not sure that I like the way my first peg is turning out, too white.
Thinking about using stash. my suggestions would be appreciated.

NEWBIE here checkin in! I have not done a layout yet, because I will be working on my spreads 2 weeks at a time. I've been taking pics since Dec 31st and I use the Marcy Penner pages to journal every night. I will be ordering my pics from Persnickety on the 14th and will continue to order from them every 2 weeks. Got all my supplies (flair, twine,Elle's Studio tags, stamps, corner rounder, stickers ect...)plus the Clemintine Core kit (will get Seafoam in the mail next week) I'm halfway done with my title page and I will be working on my first spread next weekend....with a glass of wine and some music of course | |

Well, since I started PL back in August, I don't know whether or not I'm a "newbie;" but I'm only up to October, so I guess I am. I'm doing mine monthly. What I'm finding is that it's taking me a little too long to complete a 2-page layout, even though it's in divided protectors. I love the way it's turning out, but I want it to be a little faster. I spend a lot more time on my "regular" layouts, so this is supposed to be quick and easy for me.
I think I'm going to try to use all pre-made embellishments and letters for my PL. I know there are no rules, but I think I need a few self-imposed ones to move me along more quickly. Besides, I can change or break my own rules if I REALLY need to. I'm also going to "stick" with my washi tape instead of trying to find just the right ribbon or decorative border.
Good thread! I think we need one of these every month or so. Thanks for starting it. |

I am not a newbie, but I am very excited about doing Project Life again. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Seafoam binder to amazon before I place my order the Seafoam Kit. The waiting is hard!
I have already planned the layout for week 1. My photos are in a seperate folder to be printed. I will work on the photos and planning for week 2 on Saturday after my daughter's ballet class. I will send them off to be printed from Sam's Club just as soon as I place my amazon order.

I got a gift card for Michael's and Hobby Lobby for Christmas so I decided to use them to start a PL album. I bought the WRMK album, the 4 x 6 page protectors and the package of assorted sizes. I am going to do my own cards, no kit, only my scraps. I made my title page 12 x 12 and I am going backwards. This album is highlights from 2011 and 2012. I ordered my pictures when Snapfish had their 99 prints for $.99 and I am waiting for the photos so I can start. |
