The discount wasn't the main reason I shopped here, but it was a nice perk. I understand business is business, but if even your most loyal supporters are calling fowl, you just shot yourself in the foot.
I agree. I do like the community, and I feel they do offer great free classes/videos, so I wanted to support them. But I will not spend $8 MORE for a stamp set (just my simple example from earlier) for the privilege of slowly inching towards a loyalty discount that I'll probably never get.
Workshops/classes = great content and I'd continue to purchase.
Everyday scrapping items, not.

Count me among the irritated. I had my cart full, ready to hit buy, and that would have gotten me to the discount level. I would have bought a lot of new releases with that discount. Instead, I spent money on PL last night that would have been spent here, and I will use other stores that offer better/quicker shipping for the same discount or my LSS (which I shop at a lot).
Really disappointing. And I will not be scrambling around to collect points on posts, etc. Too much work for a little payoff. One thousand points (which is the top for the weekend) would not get me to a discount level.

I shopped exclusively at Two Peas because of my discount. I don't spend a lot of time on the message boards or posting layouts because I generally don't have the time so I have no chance of earning any of these "activity" points.
I know that the terms of the loyalty program are theirs to change as they wish, but with these changes, my discount has dropped significantly as have all of yours. There's no way I'll be able to spend enough money to achieve the discount I once had. I understand that Two Peas offers a multitude of free things such as the weekly videos, the message board and the gallery, but like I said, I don't post to the gallery, am not all that active on the message board and besides Shimelle's videos - I don't watch any of the others, so the only thing Two Peas offered to me was my shopping loyalty and Shimelle. I guess from now on, I'll shop elsewhere and get my supplies a lot faster and I'll just follow Shimelle's blog.
Off to look at other online retailers...

I have been following this post for a couple of days now. I am upset just like everyone else. However Jamie did mention that there was talk of double points days and bonus pots for being an active member. I am not that active on the boards and I have only a couple of layouts posted but this definitely inspires me to use my stash.If we can get bonus points for posting layouts and talking in the chat, which we should be doing anyways, isn't that a good thing. Two peas is encouraging us to not only use our own stash by giving points for being on the boards and posting layouts but also possibly doing double point days. I realize that there are a lot of people who received the 15% discount and now have to climb their way back but give 2peas a chance you might be surprised. Just putting in my pennies worth.

I agree with other posters, there should have been communication to existing, loyal customers. I have been at 15% most of the year & done the bulk of my ordering from here to maintain that discount. I have gone as far as filling up a cart on another site & then coming to 2Peas to see if they had the same items & if they did, adding them to my cart here to buy. I guess I won't need to waste my time on that exercise anymore because there are other sites that offer shipping at $40 or $50 dollars & have loyalty programs that now compare or are better than 2Peas. too bad.

But what I think some people don't realize is that to me -- and maybe others? -- is that the reduction/loss of the loyalty discount FEELS like I am now paying 15% MORE for shopping here at 2Peas. Because the 15% reduction in price had become my new "normal" pricing. So I feel like I'm now paying more than I was -- because I am! And that really hurts.
I pretty much NEVER pay full price for any scrapbooking supplies. I am thrifty.

|Posted: 1/10/2013 11:11:48 AM|I don't order often as I'm an international customer, but when I do... well, lest just say 2 purchases a year was enough to get me to the 15% discount level
Now, not having ordered anything recently, I don't qualify for any discount. I'm quite active on the gallery and GS board, take a few classes, etc but am way off the 7500 point mark. I'm not going to spend enough without a discount to ever actually get there, so other online shopping sites are looking mighty attractive. Keep in mind us international shoppers NEVER get free shipping here, no matter how large the order. Unlike other sites.
I love 2peas and I love my virtual community here; the classes are amazing but I just can't justify spending so much more here than necessary. Sorry 2peas, but I need to go where I can get the most bang for my buck (or Rand in my case).

I don't have a dog in this fight either. I could open my own scrap store with the stash I have so I generally only spend quarterly-- and nothing near any of the program limits.
Do you think that perhaps 2peas is going to offer more Coupons?
Also I got the newsletter that they talked about all the great things and I was shocked that they are back to being family owned. Was this ever brought up on the boards?
I have always felt that 2peas has never utilized their boards to stay in tough with their customers.. Heck look at this thread not a word to explain their position. While we may not like thier position it would be helpful to hear their point of view.
|Posted: 1/10/2013 11:51:10 AM|
I agree with dancingfish that it would have been nice if 2peas would have made some type of announcement to explain what (and perhaps why) they were making such a drastic change. Then I think a lot of the peas in the community would not be so upset right now. I am speaking as an outsider/lurker if you will so I personally am not affected by this.
I also agree with 4natlee who stated that purchasing with 2peas does equal free classes. I do enjoy the classes that are available here and that are free--especially Glitter Girl!
I hope that 2peas does come forward with some sort of explanation about the sudden change and do hope that the loyal shoppers will be rewarded again in some way....

There were so many times I was going to buy from another store, but came here and purchased and finally achieved the 15% discount. Knocked down to the basic 5% now. I won't even receive the 5% discount with special promo codes. Plus, the free shipping is now limited to $10.
I can buy product for less money and free shipping at other stores, so I don't have any reason to spend money here anymore. From reading this thread, it looks like a lot of people feel the same way.
Doesn't make sense to lose loyal customers, but I guess they've crunched the numbers and decided they don't need the ones who don't spend $5000 a year here. Whatever.

Believe me, it is a question of time before they lock this thread (just like they did with yesterday's thread).
I am mad because:
1) I had 10% and now I get nothing;
2) I had no advance notice of these changes (I could have hit buy with my cart full the day before);
3) There has not been any official announcement by 2 peas about this change and with new details of new program;
4) There is no way I will be able to buy here as I was anymore;
5) This is NOT a way to treat loyal customers, which is why most of them will be taking their loyalty elsewhere.
Bad move from 2 peas. In the short run, they will realize all the business they will be losing. I hope they dont stock up too much on new CHA products, they might stay on their shelves...
|Posted: 1/10/2013 12:15:47 PM|I really hope twopeas changes there loyalty program back to the original one after all these customer complaints and them losing business over it! I for one would purchase items on a daily to weekly basics because of my %15 discount and the nice savings I would get. Now I won't be buying everything from here anymore ill go on the hunt to find it somewhere else...a lot of other site have sales all the time on new products!
I'm also annoyed at the fact that before the change my total was almost $3,000 and now I was only rewarded with 15,700 points tech. Speaking I should have around 30,000 points according to them 10 points for every $1 spent I know it says less points for sale items but still they should have honored my prior $3,000 into 30,000 points and any money spent after the change would reflect the new system of earning points via sale items equaling less points .. I think if they would have done that then I might not be so upset! Another thing that is REALLY aggervating me is.. There making a big hype about there NEW fast and speedy shipping .. Yea well that lasted what a month? I placed an order on 1/2 and paid for the faster shipping my items were not even shipped untill 1/7 its now 1/10 and still no package when the higher shipping option CLEARLY states 2-3 days after they ship your items I'm going on 4 and no package! Whats the point of paying for faster shipping when in realty its not, with the cheap or free shipping i get my items within 5 days of it being shipped anyways! I understand that they just had there sale but still if there gonna speed up shipping it should be done at sale times as well!!!
For the longest time this was the only site that I would shop at unless theres something they don't carry or out of stock.. I would even turn down 40% off sales on other sites just because I didn't wanna be bothered and my loyalty to twopeas! Now I'm not sure what to do this new program is really upsetting me and I'm not so sure I wanna stay here if this is how there gonna treat customers who drop hundreds of dollars ... Stupid reward changes! Ugh!!!

This whole thing is confusing. I placed an order on the 9th and it looks like I got 10% off my non-discounted items. The first I heard of this was this thread. I usually pea from my iPad so don't see the stickies. I am subscribed to all the newsletters, but didn't see anything about this.
I logged into 2Peas from Safari and it says I have 4,422 points and that I now need 7,500 to get a 5% discount. Kind of a bummer and at least I got one discount before they changed the rules, but what are the new rules?
I don't exclusively shop at 2Peas, but was trying to do more. The main reason was that I enjoyed all the free video classes especially Glitter Girl.
I guess I would like a few more details as to how the new program works.

That would be really upsetting to lose your loyalty percentage without warning.
Just for perspective, the LSS near me has a key tag for punching. You spend $2 for the tag, but they punch it for every $5 you spend. After you've spent $160, you get to cash in the tag for $15 in products of your choice. So for the $162 (including the cost of the tag), you get almost 10% back.
They don't punch it for sale items, or for items you buy with their 40% off coupon (Wednesdays), but only for merchandise that you pay full price. Still, at the LSS you get what I consider to be a decent deal for their customer loyalty program.

Add me to the list of hurt and disappointed loyal 2 Peas shoppers. I too dropped from the 15% discount to 5% without warning. I have shopped here almost exclusively for years and even though packages can take nearly two weeks to reach me I overlooked it because of the money I was saving. Now for the first time in a long time I am going to be searching for a new online store to shop at. One that will reward me for simply choosing to spend my hard earned money with them rather than making me jump through hoops of posting and uploading to galleries in order to earn points towards the loyalty program.
I've been here a long time but I lurk more than post and I'm not interested in their classes, free or otherwise. It has been the shopping experience that I enjoyed first and foremost. So I agree with the poster up-thread who said that loyalty goes both ways and the way that this change has been made sure doesn't make me feel like 2 Peas values me as a customer.

Maybe I'm just being grumpy, but I don't feel like posting layouts or chatting is something that Peas "should" be doing - it's a store, Peas come to shop... I appreciate the forums and gallery immensely, and the free videos and classes are wonderful... As helpful as they are, I see them as being a way TwoPeas promotes new product and encourages their customers to stay in the hobby... My LSS gives free introductory tutorials on new tools, they showcase new products in use, they have testers available to try out... My local coffee shop offers free wifi, let's me charge my laptop, has magazines for me to read... It's part of how they create and maintain a relationship with their customers... I guess what bugs me is that not every Pea wants to or has the time to post their work or chat, yet that seems to be the main way to earn points now... It would be odd to get a discount on a coffee because I told another customer in the shop how I ordered mine, or showed them a picture of the coffee I ordered last week... If I referred a new person to the shop, okay, maybe then... I understand rewarding regulars, but there are a lot of regular shoppers who aren't regular posters and regular posters who aren't regular shoppers... I'm not going to turn down chances to earn points, there's just something about the participation aspect of it that doesn't sit well with me... Maybe another Pea can articulate it better...
ETA: I'm an international Pea, so in that way I'm in a different situation than a lot of you... I checked my LLS for their prices on stuff that they'd have to order in if I wanted it... Their prices were +10% more (0.90USD for paper here compared to 0.99CAD if I ordered through them), and I'd have to wait up to a month for it to come in instead of the 10-14 days from here, but I'd be saving 21% overall thanks to no shipping costs (and possibly more if I were to get dinged for duties...) I like buying where I window shop, but it's enough of a savings that I'll be making my wishlist at Two Peas and taking it to her to order for me... It feels crummy doing that...

Since I could never afford to buy enuff to make it into the old rewards program, this won't really affect my purchasing. I buy from here occasionally becoz' I want to support the site as much as I can and they do offer a wide variety of products. The closest we have to a lss is A's and it's about 40 miles away so I like to have an alternative to that. 2Peas does offer a lot of free education and I enjoy participating on the GS board here (everyone has always been so nice when I've posted or asked questions). It will be interesting to see how the points are awarded for posting or joining the challenges - I'm gonna have to get much better at uploading stuff!
Let's hope the new system works out for all of you who do buy quite a bit here and that there are other rewards that maybe we're not seeing just yet.

I am really disappointed, I really counted on the discount, to help justify my purchases here...as an international customer, it cost me $19.00 for shipping on a $60.00 order, and all I get is a $5.00 discount, when using the free shipping code...so as you can see the little extra discount would really help lower my shipping costs.

I place one or two orders per year just because I do use the message boards and think of it as an obligation. Sort of paying my annual "Dues" for posting here. However, the shipping process is too slow, they're often out of stock on items I want and it's expensive. Taking away a discount program that has established patrons is just a bad business idea. The store has had problems for years. A message board is a marketing tool, but if you keep making it more difficult to shop then people will take advantage of the message board and not shop in your store. I'd rather go to another on-line store that caters to their customers. JMHO.

I don't have much of a dog in this fight since I never spent enough here to qualify for a discount.
I think that people would still be upset with the new program, but I think they would be less upset if 2Peas had communicated about it instead of just switching it overnight. It's like when you tune to your favorite radio station only to discover that it's been bought and changed to another genre.
It's unfortunate that they didn't treat some of their most loyal customers better. There are many scrapbooking stores out there, many of which offer rewards programs, and people will find a company that they feel treats them better.
Yes, the free classes and such here can't be beat, but I don't blame anyone for being upset for the manner with which this whole thing was handled.

|Posted: 1/10/2013 3:14:45 PM|As a long-time lurker and infrequent poster and shopper, I hope the Peas won't mind my throwing in my two cents worth and playing Devil's Advocate for both sides.
First I would like to say that I agree with those who are upset at waking up one morning and realizing their discounts are gone. This, in my opinion, was a poor business decision on the part of the company. I believe the company should have given its customers a grace period for them to take advantage of their current discounts one last time as well as allow those close to discounts to also get in on one final discount purchase. The company may have lost some immediate revenue stream from this final offer, but this would have generate much appreciated goodwill. As a former business manager, I believe it is always best to take the long view when making business decisions.
From a company viability standpoint, I am a poor customer. I rarely purchase and rarely participate. I am primarily a lurker. Yet I benefit from the knowledge and inspiration in the forums, the galleries, the classes and the outstanding work of 22 Design Team members (for whom this is a business and deserve to be paid a commensurate wage). As a customer, I will probably never qualify for a discount based on my purchases.
BUT, as a loyal board "lurker", I can appreciate the fact that I can begin to accumulate points simply by becoming more active here. If I can earn 1,000 points just by uploading ONE project to the gallery during the CHA Winter Online Social event this weekend, wow... that's the equivalent of purchasing $100 worth of product. I don't know what the new "participation" policy is going to look like, but I can see some rewards that I could appreciate and be willing to work toward -- and that would benefit both the company and its customers:
1. Points for leaving comments on videos we watch (everybody -- including the DT -- enjoys hearing a little praise now and then)
2. Points for leaving comments in the gallery (I know it's not as convenient to do this with smartphones, but comments are so nice to get, aren't they?)
3. Points for posting in the gallery and linking the products to the Store (this makes it much easier for other Peas to recreate a project you may have posted).
I'm not trying to underestimate the frustration many of you feel, but I also understand that Two Peas IS a company, they DO offer valuable services that a Michael's or HL don't offer because the costs are prohibitive (how many stores, LSS or competitive online stores offer as many free services), and they ARE trying to stay alive in this grueling economy. As someone who has witnessed the demise of so many LSS, online stores, kit clubs, manufacturers, etc., I personally would hate to be 2Pea-less!
I'm sure the company is remaining silent in order to give everyone a chance to express their opinions as well as see where they might want to tweak their new policy.
Sorry this is so long. Just venting a little myself.

I don't have a dog in this fight either but the first thing that popped into my mind is, wasn't the old customer loyalty program rather new??
Whether my memory is serving me correctly or not timeline wise, I would think that with all of the money people have spent over the last 12 months to get them up to the 15% off level, those people should somehow have been grandfathered in for the remainder of their original term under the old program.
It is completely not fair for someone to spend all of that money and then have the promised discount for a month or two.
I also agree that yes, they can change the thing any time they like but they should have given fair warning as a courtesy to their loyal customers.
I personally do not think this is good customer service at all.

I definitely like the idea of earning points in other ways besides purchasing. Could prove to be interesting...
I am not upset...I was the discount level..used it once...but I shopped here because the store had what I wanted, not to reach a level where I get a discount. I like the boards, the gallery, the classes, and the shopping...as long as they still have the free shipping code. I'm good.
But then again I am someone who can't even be bothered to use a coupon when I have one in my purse. I just buy what I want, if I can swing it. I don't always need a deal.
Hopefully we will hear more details about the new program soon.

I also would have appreciated a transition period to use my already earned credit and even with added ways to earn points, I think the levels are crazy-high...I'm really not sure how much shopping I will be able to do here in the future.

|Posted: 1/10/2013 3:49:25 PM|I'm sad that the program has changed...I just decided to regularly shop here (I really like the selection, and shipping is reasonable if I keep my orders ~$50 to get the discount plus avoid customs/duties to Canada). Have placed 4 orders, and figured I'd hit a discount eventually.
But since the discount never yet applied to me, I can't be too angry.
But I am very upset for those who have achieved the discount level...they should get their full year from this time, not suddenly lose it! That leaves a bad taste in my mouth

I know. I noticed last night! Annoying.

I understand changes but would have liked a warning. I keep a running wish list and always wait for the items to come in stock here to support two peas because I love this community.
This change will definitely affect the way I shop.
Very disappointed in the way this was handled.
|Posted: 1/10/2013 4:11:53 PM|I don't buy enough to be part of that program. But I can understand why people would be upset about the change. That stinks.

I used to be active on the board and then just dropped off because life got busy. I have been a faithful two peas shopper for many years and thought how incredibly generous they were with their loyalty program, I could even offset my shipping costs when the 25% sales were on.
I do think it is very unfair that 2Peas didn't give us any warning because I for one relied on their discount to offset their very expensive shipping, probably the most expensive online site for shipping.
Because of 2peas discount I accepted I couldn't add on to orders and once in que there were no changes and if they were slower it was a small price to pay for the great discount.
I did feel sorry for two peas when everyone used to post about other companies sales and deals. It's a bit like going to a coffee shop and drinking the competitors coffee while there.
I am very sorry 2peas has brought out these changes with no forewarning, I thought better of them.
All you LURKERS out there, please let your feeling known!

|Posted: 1/10/2013 4:51:29 PM| I've earned the 15% discount for over 2yrs and am now down to no discount at all, yep 0%.
As far as the potential to earn points via social activities, I have never posted to a message board before and never will again after this post. I have never uploaded a project or participated in a challenge. I don't have the time, inclination, or desire to do so. I prefer my privacy. And besides, scrapbooking & cardmaking are just activities for my family and friends and my personal enjoyment.
I will never be able to re-earn my 15% discount. Ever.
2Peas, realize this: I (and many others, including silent shoppers out there who won't go to the time and trouble to speak to you on this Message Board) have a fixed $x to spend on my hobby and that is not going to change. Now those same dollars just won't buy me as much merchandise, especially at 2Peas. I will definately be shopping elsewhere where at least some discount is routinely offered and where better customer service is practiced, and more speedy & truly Free shipping is given.
As far as the Customer Service perspective on this change goes, let me share my thoughts...
Fellow shoppers, I hate to say this, but wake up! The execution of the change in policy is just par for the course at 2Peas. Despite the lip service, the repeated emphasis on valuing loyal customers, and calling us by the cutesy nickname of "peas," Two Peas in a Bucket has a track record of not caring about its customers. Let me elaborate with many examples.
Main Example: In Oct 2011, 2Peas just suddenly, without warning, started charging sales tax on my orders. So I wrote Customer Service and asked ~when~ this policy was enacted and ~where~ 2Peas had informed their customers about the change. The replies I recieved were identical to this situation: they immediately began justifying why they had to charge sales tax by law, but did not (in multiple inquiries/replies--they are still in my Support Ticket queue!!, along with numerous "mistake in my order" tickets and tickets I kindly took the trouble of opening just to let 2Peas know about mistakes in item info/things I liked about the webstore/product suggestions)--sorry tangent!--again, in multiple replies 2 Peas did not tell me when/where they had informed customers about this new policy. Finally, in the 6th, yes 6th, reply a week later (I'm persistent!), 2Peas wrote "They (the sales tax policy changes) were announced on our message boards." Huh? What about the shoppers who don't follow the Message Boards? This is NOT Message Board worthy. Payment policies for a webstore should be clearly enumerated on a Policies or FAQs page like every other webstore in the entire world! Besides, I searched and searched the Message Boards and never did find an official 2Peas announcement about sales tax charges--shoppers talking about it, yes, but Absolutely No message from this webstore itself. So that just seemed like an outright lie to get me to leave them alone.
Fellow shoppers, whether you care about receiving a discount or not, think on this...
***2PEAS HISTORICAL CUSTOMER SERVICE BEHAVIOR*** The same can be said for many of the more subtle, i.e. unannounced, changes made to 2Peas's policies:
> 1st it was the change in the loyalty discount only applying to non-sale items;
> 2nd it was "free shipping"--but only up to $10 worth;
> 3rd it was a change to UPS SurePost instead of Priority Mail (my packages now take at least 10 days to arrive and there is 85% of the time at least 1 missing/incorrect item in the package);
> 4th and now, finally, is this unannounced "improvement" to the loyalty program.
None, not one, of these changes in policy were announced via email, newsletter, or Policies/FAQs pages of the webstore. That is just plain deceptive.
I have been a loyal 2Peas customer since Jan 2010, literally one week after I decided to adopt scrapbooking as a hobby. I've spent about $5,000 at 2Peas in those 3 years. Now this store will only be a last resort for older items that are sold out elsewhere. Goodbye 2Peas. This is an abysmal, reprehensible, and deplorable customer service record. Please think on your record as outlined above and seen from a loyal pea's perspective. I hope you decide to rethink it. But if you do, make an official announcement...otherwise many of your previously loyal customers will never know and thus will never return!
