Usually, I can view a few pages from the 2Peas gallery and I am reveved up and ready to do a layout ... or I can watch the first 5 minutes of a GG video and boom - inspiration overload. But lately, my Mojo seems to have taken a long vacation

What do you do Glitter Girl, when you are just not in the mood to do layouts but, you really want too! Helppp GG help ...

Glitter girl I really need some advice/assistance. I have a huge selection of co'ordination cardstock that I've only used once on a card. I am ready to donate it or throw it out because I am having a hard time incorporating the papers on a layout. Can you please give me some insight or ideas on how to use co'ordination papers on a layout?

Treyaut, I am not sure if Glitter Girl can do a video with Coordinations since I don't think Two Peas sells it. But what I have found is that cardstock works just fine if you use the outer color only. Or if you want to use the inside color too, and your LO can stand a little "distressing," just scratch the surface of the cardstock with the blade of scissors until patches of the inside color show through.

If you have embossing folders, another option would be to make some kind of "pattern paper" by embossing pieces or sections of the Coordinations.

You could distress the edges or tear the paper. If you google Coordinations you can find examples. I would link you but I cannot on this computer.

MeloveBono and MrsKLewis, what I would do if you didn't have the overwhelming desire to scrap is hold off. But if you really want to scrap, look at the various challenges here and other places, and see one thing you would like to try. Then try it on a card, or on a scrapbook page that if you don't like, you can either not keep or hang onto somewhere other than in the main scrapbook you were working on.

I haven't had much of a mojo problem, except for last month when the holidays were just too much. But right now I'm finding so much inspiration between the free videos posted here daily in the Classes and Events tab, and the "Stash Busters" challenge posted on this board weekly, I know I will have no problem sitting down tonight and doing three layouts - two with photos from December that I really "need" to scrap, and one simply inspired by one of the video challenges posted last week.

And if that's not enough inspiration, I understand Two Peas will have even more challenges in a "CHA Social" starting tomorrow. Those would also probably be found under the "Classes and Events" tab.

Only have a quick minute so a really short answer in two parts:

1. One of Glitter Girl's earliest videos shares her process for working on something when she WANTS to scrap but the design ideas aren't there. It's here.

2. If it's more that you don't even feel you want to scrap (different feeling to wanting to scrap but not feeling inspired to go a certain way with any given project), try doing something else and make it something that gets you moving. I don't mean you need to become a zumba queen or run a marathon (though you are awesome if you do either of those!) but the creative part of the brain is fuelled by oxygenation. Good oxygenation comes from fresh air, breathing deeply and moving. There's a reason why yoga is a part of that focused idea of zen - moving the body and all that deep breathing helps the mind too. Yoga is one way - there are zillions. I have learned so much that sitting on the sofa gets me zero inspiration (though it does help me recover if I'm properly ill!) and paying attention to my health keeps things creative. I used to get a point where I would have so much on my to-do list that I wouldn't leave the house and just work-work-work feeling I had to do it all or my world would end. When I did that, I would burn out often and my ideas just weren't there. My work suffered. Now I make it a rule that I get out and breathe and move even when my to-do list is a mile long. I'm healthier; I don't get burn out & stay inspired to make/do more; the work I produce is higher quality: everyone wins.

Experiment with that idea and find your own idea of what works, because I definitely don't think there's one version of everything that is right for everybody... and it's good to switch it up sometimes and accept that one thing doesn't work forever... but the underlying example can help. I wish I had figured it out when I had such a stressful-every-day-of-the-year day job, because I bet I would have been calmer AND better at my job. Live and learn.

Ooo thank you Shimelle!
(your not Glitter Girl but pretty darn close)

Good advice from EllenPea too!
Thats what usuallllllly gets my engine revived...
watching the videos and looking at the gallery..
or, even playing along with the challenges.

I know Shimelle asks if it is
do I WANT to scrap and can't or don't wanna scrap...
its that I want to - just can't grab that "inspiration"
I usually am able to.

I made myself do a card challenge yesterday...
and like Ellen kind of mentioned...
its not my favorite card in the whole wide world...
BUT
at least I had paper and adhesive in my hands.

I wish we could bottle that feeling
where you wake up inspired!

And there are times when I literally
peel my eyes open ...
I look around to make sure, I am still
"this side of the dirt"
and I remember about new products or photos
I can't wait to scrap!

Ahhh thats a greatttttt feeling.

I'm sure it'll return -
until then...
OFF I go to buy some of those new products from CHA!

thank you everyone!

For coordinations cardstock. You could border punch a strip then sand along it and layer it over another strip of the same colour so the pattern of the border punch is emphasized.
Also I think tearing it is a cool effect (if that fits in with your style) If you have a tonne of different colours you could tare strips from several different pieces and layer them up to create a rainbow or ombre effect.
Otherwise, could you just use it as regular cardstock?

One thing I do when I don't really have alot of scrapping mojo, is do a kindof starter page. I use a favorite "go to" page design, I use papers that I've either previously put into a kit, or leftovers from another project. I just focus on getting started, paper, pictures, words. If thats all I get done, at least its a start. It may not win any awards, but it works for me. I can always go back and add ot it later when I"m feeling more craft, but usually that does the trick and gets things moving.
