I really have not used it on my layouts. I do like the look on the layouts I have seen.

They were ok. I used them once or twice but could never rock them like I saw so many designers do.

I am not sad at all to see the hexagon trend on its way out--I have struggled with that shape since the get go.

I liked the hexagons but how many layouts does one really need covered in the same shape? I'm glad that the trends seem to be moving on.

I like them, and I don't think that it is disappearing, just fading into the background a bit. I saw it in a few new collections (MME Collectable comes to mind), just not in the epic porportions of last year. I like them in small doses!

I like hexagon stamps and masks, to create background. Never tried paper hexagons, though I think I should make one LO to try it.

I just bought hexagon Nesties. I can't wait to use them!

|Posted: 1/13/2013 9:37:19 AM|I just noticed that Prima also has some new hexagon Washi tape coming out as part of their Hello Pastel collection - I'm still sitting on the "this trend is going away yet" bench
ETA: Prima also has some hexagon brads in the same collection and some hexagon Say it in Crystals, for those who are hexagon fans

|Posted: 1/13/2013 9:38:46 AM|I liked the hexagon trend, BUT I also bought quite a few hexagon things when it was around and haven't finished using them yet. I think it's like washi tape- it's a really big seller right now, but I think we're all nearing the point where we have a lot of it, and as the buying slows off, the manufacturers will move on to the next big-selling trend. That doesn't necessarily mean we'll stop using them, though! Especially for those of us with large hexagon (and washi) stashes.

I'm okay with them being gone. I only used them once.

I did one layout with hexes... It was kinda fun challenging myself to use this shape that was appearing in all the lines as the time (which I usually just used the B-side of the paper.) I had cut them out of the paper and created my own background with them. Now that I can't really cut detailed shapes or see very well (all happened pretty suddenly and taking a very long to get better-if it ever gets better) I am kinda glad to hear they are going by the wayside...

|Posted: 1/13/2013 10:08:59 AM|I hope it's not disappearing-I just bought these Hero Arts stamps last week!
I'm planning on using multiple stamps in the set to make a border or background. Hexagons will still be on my pages!
However, I'm not too concerned about what is "in". I use a lot of my old stuff that is not "on trend". But I don't post my layouts anywhere, so they are only seen by my family and they don't have a clue what is the latest and greatest in the scrapbooking world. As much as I cringe over the pages from 1996 in my CM albums, my kids love them for the memories they hold.

Just did my first LO with hexagons yesterday and found them very hard to use, but I love them on others pages so I am sorry to see them go.

I love the honeycomb effect that I get from my Silhouette when I cut out the background. I love putting a really pretty color behind and using that as a background for a page. Very stunning!!

OP, where did you find a hexagon punch?
@Journey Fan - I got lucky. When I started looking into it last year, I found threads saying CM *used* to have a hex punch but it was discontinued. I have a neighbor who dabbles as a CM consultant. She was willing to part with hers.
|Posted: 1/13/2013 12:18:11 PM|Thanks for all the responses. Like most of you, I like seeing all the hex projects.
I really like the idea of the honeycomb silhouette cut and lining it with pattern paper. Another reason I need a Cameo.

I am sad. I love hexagons. There are still some in my stash that I plan on using. Knowing me, they'll make it onto a page 3 years from now. I'm good with that. Scrap whatever makes you happy.
|Posted: 1/13/2013 12:20:42 PM|
I'm trying to finish a hex layout for one of the CHA challenges. It's a bee keeping layout. I like how it's a honeycomb pattern. Serves double duty! I'll link it up if I ever finish it.
|Posted: 1/13/2013 12:27:35 PM|I also have the HA hex stamp on the way. I am sure I saw them in small doses in some of the papers as well. Regardless I like them and will use them. In five years (or even one) I am not going to remember if this LO or that LO was made at the peak of the trend or after it, you know? And none of my family will have any clue!
So I am not sure the trend is over but I am not really sad if it is - I will use it anyway. Just like I will not be using paper feathers.
What are you looking at?
|Posted: 1/13/2013 1:26:43 PM|I don't think it's disappearing, it's just not everywhere like it was the last few shows. Geometric shapes are classic basics. They'll always be around in some form.
I am a compulsive list maker, lol, and keep two running lists each CHA of basics I want to add to my stash. This CHA, one list is hexagons, and one is quatrefoil and lattice. Here's my list for those who are sad that it seems to be disappearing!
Hexagons in new releases:
AC My Girl , BG Hipster , this WRMK tape dispenser , Bazill's MAC and Basics lines (scroll down), Bo Bunny stamps and the b-sides of their Double Dot Stripe line , Bo Bunny Prairie Chic , Bo Bunny Family Is... , Clear Scraps stencils , Cosmo Cricket Sweet Disposition , Crafters Workshop stencil by Ronda Palazzari , CP DIY Shop, EP Sweet Girl, EP All About A Boy , Epiphany Crafts Hexagon Shape Studio , Evalicious Love You Lots cards , Fancy Pants Swagger rub-ons , GCD Studios Pure Bliss , GCD Studios Special Delivery stickers , GCD Studios Fun and Funky , Jillibean Soup Placemats , KI Memories Specialty Paper , Lily Bee Destination , MME Collectable , MME Boy Crazy , lots in the new Prima stuff , Quick Quotes Dusty Road , SEI Blooms and Blossoms , Simple Stories 24/7 , Teresa Collins Memories , Teresa Collins Stationery Noted , Webster's Pages New Beginnings , Webster's Pages/Allison Kreft Composition and Color , WRMK Bloom .

I'm a little sad. I always have a harder time finding things to use on my boy pages and the geometric shapes like hexagons are nice to use for those. Agree with others that say they are much better than the feathers.

I never cared too much for hexagons. I've used them here and there, but I'm glad if they aren't all over anymore.

I told you guys it wasn't going away I am kind of surprised no one has brought a hexagon punch back though. Maybe EK Success will roll one out for Summer CHA.

Impressive list as well......
Creative Memories just came out with a hexagon cartridge for the bordermaker as well as a large hexagon for the custom cutting system. There are some cute ideas to make little baskets with the large hexagon as the base basket. I think I remember seeing a cute hexagon honeycomb as well.
