So Jill, your pages are always so fun in subject and appearance. You use great design fun colors and I just want to know, I don't know, any tips for us? You make it look so easy!! I think my all time fave of yours is the birthday one where you talk about catching the ice-cream truck.
I guess the best way to respond to this is to make clear that it isn't easy -- but it's FUN! I take forever to create pages because I am always moving things around and walking away and talking to my supplies (oh, yes) and second-guessing myself. I will be that GG with the 3 1/2 hour video.
The best tips that I can give are these:
- Embrace the story, and tell it like you're talking to people who get you. Use your real voice.
- Choose elements and accents that relate to the theme. There's a method to the madness. Maybe I overanalyze a little too much, which slows my process, but in the end, it's worth it. I want everything to mean something, in a way.
- Don't force a page. You likely won't be happy with it.
- If your hands aren't covered in three different colors and your clothes are clean, something has gone terribly wrong. |

Say farewell to the concept of the scrap room. These times herald the coming of the "scrap bunker."
Funny, but I want one.
Glad I'm not the only one who's ears perked up at this. |

@Jill - thanks for the geeky anniversary link. Looks like I got some of those gifts for my dh out of order. ha ha! My husband is a computer geek by occupation, a nerd and a dork. I am also all 3, not just by association (although not very geek savvy). | |

I was never a distressing fan.
I don't like the grungy type of distressing (ripping, tearing, and then inking) but I do ink my edges. Not so much that it can be considered distressing. Just enough that it makes the inked edges stand out from the rest of the papers I'm using! |

Oh my gosh, this is so totally me Jill! I second guess myself constantly when I'm scrapping. And spend too much time trying to find the perfect paper or embellishment. And I talk to myself and my supplies. It took me ALL DAY yesterday to complete one layout!
We should be best friends. |
