I want to do this and have a word picked out however is there a way to do it without signing up for a class?
Any suggestions? I've never seen a daily scrapbook thing. My friend suggested I do a December daily next year but I don't even know what that means.

Firstly, yes you can absolutely have a word that you focus on without a class!
Secondly, though you could do it however you like, the class is one prompt per month, not a daily thing.
Basically it is just focusing on making your word part of your life. So scrap a page with a definition or synonyms, think about what it means to you. Think about how you want to incorporate it into your life, take photos that relate.
This is my first year doing it and if I had a lot of specific ideas I wouldn't be taking the class but maybe that is a start. | |

I never took the class, and I haven't really done OLW before last year, and really this year. I never could figure out how to do scrapbook pages about the words, even if I may have had a word some year before 2012.
Last year, I chose "dream" as my word, and made a few embellishments, photographed one sign with that as the word. In April, I started an art journal, where I wrote some things about my dreams, but then figured out from that my word really should have been believe. So I changed it to believe in the middle of the year at some point.
This year it's content, and I believe it will stay content all year. I have made one art journal page focusing on that word, several that I have worked "content" into the journaling. I may even figure out a scrapbook page with such journaling soon. |
