Just because you don't like people sending things privately doesn't give you the right to expose what she said privately.
Sure it does. Once it came into my inbox, it was my property to do as I wished with.
Not necessarily. I don't know what the latest laws say, but back in the day, the law about actual physical letters was the person who received the letter was entitled to keep physical possession of it even if the sender wanted it back, BUT the sender maintained ownership of the contents. The recipient couldn't publish it without permission of the sender.
I don't know why the rules would be more lenient for email or other electronic messaging. |

There are times that I agree with what you say on posts and i've even noticed that you've been more nice than usual on a few posts recently. You do have the potential to be funny, you've slipped up and been likable a few times. Unfortunately the majority of the time you act like you're so convinced that no one will want anything to do with you that you're rude and abrasive. Instead of coming across as blunt, bitchy and uncaring of what people think about you it's way more in the 'incredibly sad, man her life must suck to feel the need to treat people like that' category.
It makes me sad for you because I kind of like you and it sucks that instead of taking her peamail as intended you're trying to bring her down with your negativity. |

My guess is that the purpose of exposing the pea who wrote the message is to prove that other people are just as mean behind our backs. In effect, making Captain K look better (in her mind), since at least she says what she does to the person's face. I guess the whole concept of putting others down to make yourself look and feel better in comparison. |

Oh no Sukki is blunt on the board, she called Lauren a "former fat person" right to her face. I've caught her on a few threads lately (a gun one comes to mind) and it's no surprise and her CK are friendly. |

And don't even try to tell me that if I sent one of you a peamail that you wouldn't post it.
Actually, no, I wouldn't. I might post about it...no, I wouldn't even do that, but I would never post an email from another Pea, even if it was you. I think that's a sincere violation of your right to privacy...and as mean as you can be, I still think you have that right.
As far as Peas posting pmails 'back in the day'. I do remember some of those threads. I do remember Peas daring people to post the claimed pmail, but I also remember a lot of people saying it wasn't right, maybe my memory is colored by the fact that I thought it was the wrong thing to do, still do. I also remember so of those threads getting pulled because they contained copies of pmails....different times I guess.

I don't think she's Beadhound. Captain K is a lot more literate (complete sentences, few misspellings) than Beadhound ever was. Also Beadhound was liberal and Captain K is conservative. People change, people fake it ... but why bother? |

I came in here tonight for a little relaxational pea-ing while eating dinner and opened this thread out of morbid curiosity. Figured it would be at the least entertaining. I've been around long enough that I recognize names (mostly by their avatars) and some by the wonderful pet and family pics in their signatures. I subscribe to PennyRings blog. I've learned a great deal about the Jewish faith. (thanks, Batya) And I've bought and love coconut oil because I read about it here! lol I pray when prayers are requested. I will say out loud that I like Lauren. I think she speaks her mind and you know where you stand. You may not like what she says, but that is your issue to deal with.
This whole thread really makes me kind of sad. From what I read here, and have read on other threads, there are Peas who feel a need to keep score and hold grudges. We're all grown women here (with the possible exception of a random troll or two.) We have families, jobs, looking for jobs, in-laws, out-laws, children and parents with chronic illness, broken marriages, beloved pets we've had to say goodbye to...I could go on and on. I guess my point is - and speaking strictly for myself - I have way too many other hard issues on my plate to keep a spread sheet on a message board. It just seems so pointless and petty to me.
I don't usually post things like this, but I'll tell you why I'm doing it now. As I was in the middle of reading this thread, I got a text from my sister. She told me that my favorite cousin, Sheila, just 53, a year older than me, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She's having a double mastectomy on Feb. 12. And naturally she's scared to death.
Kinda put this whole thread in perspective. |

So if someone in real life takes you aside privately and says, "I really like how you handled such and such situation. Those individuals aren't as awesome as they think and I like the way you held your own against them" your immediate response would be to broadcast to the crowd exactly what was said to you in private?!
That doesn't even make sense. Someone was nice and complimentary to you and your instinct is to embarrass them and call them hypocritical.
I think this is actually one of the best analogies offered tonight.
I hope you read it, Captain K, and consider it...especially that last sentence. It'd be nice if, upon reflection, you could realize how wrong you are. But I doubt that shame or humility is something you feel often. |

I've had quite a few interesting peamails and emails from peas in my years here. I don't need a spread sheet to keep track of how many times Lauren has told me to fuck off, or how many times Captain K has gone out of her way to be unkind to various peas (actually, I have lost track of the latter).
So you can take your handslappiness and stuff it. And that's the polite way of saying what I was really thinking. |

Since we're on the subject, I've never understood the need for troll identities. Sure, there were some fun ones, like Miss Manners and Threadkiller Jack, but real trolls (the ones who post under a different name or come back w/a new identity) always confound me. We're all anonymous(except to IRL friends or peas that we have met who might also post here). So, what difference does it make if you change your identity? If I have something to say to you and I feel that it's that important then trust me, I'll say it as Scrapmaven. No need to be someone else. IRL I can't wear a disguise, so I don't do it here. OTOH, I also don't give up my identity here, either. Too dangerous. Be careful what you put out there, cause once you hit send it stays in internet land forever. However, if you put out something that is controversial then stand your ground and don't hide or run away and come back as someone else.
MetalDancer-your cousin is in my prayers for healing and lifelong remission.

I didn't take it like you were hand slapping. Just thinking out loud. Not judging, just reflecting.
Thank you - that's how I meant it exactly! I do appreciate the prayers and good thoughts being sent on behalf of my cousin Sheila. |

Metaldancer I agree with other posters in that your post was not taken as a handslap. You made a good point. Life is too short to "sweat the small stuff."
Sending prayers for you and your loved one. |

and I have siggies turned off so it's just easier for me to call you by your peaname.
Totally off topic, but for someone who has siggys turned off, you sure do change yours a lot. What's up with that? |

If you were a *top tier* pea the responses to you would be much different. Since you are not (I'm not in the club either) you will be called a handslapper by the biggest handslappers here.
This is soooo true. I didn't feel like what you said was a handslap by any means and I don't get the peas who took offense and chose to make it personal. It was almost like they felt you were personally attacking them.
All a part of the charm I guess.
and is actually proof of the hypocracy that goes on here that so many people get riled up about.

False advertising--that wasn't interesting AT ALL!!!
So someone likes you, so what. Too bad she doesn't feel free to be herself on here and agree with you when she feels like it. That seems sort of cowardly. But I'd hardly call it "interesting".
