So I think I might have been a little bit hasty in my initial reaction to the new discount program. With a little time, I'm finding that it's growing on me.
I've been wanting to participate on the "General Scrapping" board more for a while now, but for some reason just wasn't. Now I'm posting A LOT more (which of course, was the point of that aspect of the program) and am learning a lot. The points are adding up fairly quickly, too; although the 5,000 bonus points helped out A LOT.
It seems to me (maybe it's my imagination) that the "General Scrapping" board has been more active lately, and that's definitely been an incentive for me to participate more. It got frustrating to see the same threads of the first page for days. I like to see new topics.
Has anyone else had a change of heart?

I guess I don't know all of the specs about the new loyalty program. I don't participate in many forums or upload my projects, but if I can earn points . . . I will! |

I wish there was a was we could see how our points were earned. Almost like a ledger. It looks like I got my points for my order over the week end but not for posting. And I'm still missing post for uploading layouts and some peas are missing points from posting from there's phones (I'm doing that now). So I think there's a glitch in this program and I'm not to sure about it just yet. |

Im not minding the new program either, I like that we get point for participating, BUT I dont think its fair that the discount was taken away from people who had already earned it. If you had earned your discount for a year you should have it for a year. I think thats where the mistake was made. It still makes me not want to shop here because of that.

I don't see where we are getting points for participating. I know they said that but I haven't seen it written in the program explanation nor have I seen my points go up either. Hmmm?
"Our Customer Loyalty Program rewards frequent shoppers with a discount of up to 15% on non-discounted items plus special promotional offers. You'll earn 10 points for every dollar spent on non-discounted product and a reduced amount of points for discounted product. The points you earn on each order are good for 12 months from the date your order ships and are not transferrable. Points are awarded within 24 hours of order shipment. The loyalty discount does not apply towards shipping costs or already discounted product. The loyalty discount may be freely combined with Two Peas coupons (e.g. free shipping). Two Peas reserves the right to modify or further clarify the rules and restrictions that apply to this program at any time." |

Okay, so now I am testing this. It seems my points went up by 5 after the post above. Hmmm, maybe there is something there. Will check again. I think it needs to be added to the program info though. |

We were all excited about it because it it happened right at CHA social. That made the program look good. Buy since then it hasn't been worth it to me. And yes I agree we those of us that earned that discount should have been able to keep it. Atleast notified that the program was happening and if you have anything in you bucket that your discount will be applied to that and then you wil be placed on the new program. I'm not digging this at all. |

On the CHA Winter '13 Forum, in the Post entitled "Loyalty Points question for Jamie - Third time lucky - keep losing it in more ways than one!!", waratah posted this:
Just got a ticket response to something else, but also asked about the point system, incase anyone was still wondering. This is the info I got
At the moment (aside from the CHA bonus 1,000 points you can earn from uploading projects to the gallery, which does not affect monthly cap on point earning in the gallery) here is how you can currently earn points from the community:
Message board: 5 points/post (up to 300 pts/month)
Project uploads: 25 points/project (up to 325 pts/month)
Your first 5 gallery project posts before January 20th at 11:59 PM CST are worth 225 points. After 12 months, this would add up to 7,500 points if you stay completely active (not accounting for bonus point offers, such as the one we're currently offering in the gallery). That is how it works at the moment, and we will let you know if anything changes. Message board posts to the NSBR do not count.
Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to find this policy officially announced. It would be nice if Jamie (or someone else at 2Peas) would make this official by posting a revision of their earlier announcement.
Jamie? |

If you had earned your discount for a year you should have it for a year. I think thats where the mistake was made. It still makes me not want to shop here because of that.
The problem with that is that there is always going to be someone who just qualified. I think they kind of had to draw a line in the sand and switch from one program to the other. Otherwise it becomes a logistical nightmare of trying to keep track of who is eligible for one program and who is eligible for the other. Don't get me wrong; I'm none too pleased about losing my discount, but I understand why they did it that way.
It's unlikely that I'll ever qualify for the 15% again, but in the long run I guess that 5% doesn't make a significant difference in my scrapbook budget. I've always been happy with TwoPeas, and the fact remains that it is THEIR loyalty program and they have the right to change it when they feel they need too. I'm sure it's not something they took lightly.
I'm glad that I calmed down and gave the new program a chance; I was angry enough at first to take my business elsewhere, and that made me sad because I've always enjoyed shopping at 2Peas and participating in the community.
I hope that others will be able to enjoy the new program too!

I am trying to like it too. According to their new program, there are a reduced number of points awarded for sale items.
"Our Customer Loyalty Program rewards frequent shoppers with a discount of up to 15% on non-discounted items plus special promotional offers. I noticed it was awarded at about 70% for sale items. I haven't seen anything posted officially about their awards. That would definitely be nice. |

I've been active on and off in the forums and if posting will get me points, then looks like I'll be active again!
So... the ranges of points are based on what you accumulate over a 12 month period..
So if I get 5 points for posting today (01/17/2013), it will expire on 01/17/2014, right? So that means our totals will be kind of fluctuating around this time next year, especially if you are just at the cusp of one of the ranges..
Did that make sense? |

I don't order enough to qualify for any discounts so I don't miss them. I do like we are being rewarded for being an active part of the community. As long as they still are able to occassionally offer free shipping I think we are getting a good deal. |

crimsoncat, if you hover over the store tab, a drop down menu will appear with Customer Loyalty Program as one of the selections. You collect points automatically and you'll be able see your total there.

I think the new 'participation points' is great. But I can't figure out why it would work for them??
It seems odd that after removing outside ads, they would offer incentives for being on the site without spending money. I'm not complaining!! But how does it benefit 2Ps to increase traffic if they are not charging for ad space.
Again, I am NOT complaining! |

Because the more active their message board, the more time people are going to spend on their site. The more time people spend on the site, the more likely they are to spend money here, either on product or classes. If I come here and see that page 1 hasn't changed much, I leave pretty much immediately. But if I see there are lots of new topics/posts, there's a higher chance my mouse will wander over to the store.

The whole thing still leave me feeling
There is no law that says they need a customer loyalty program for discounted shopping. However, all these mysterious rules, points for this and that, bonuses during this time and that one...too much bureaucracy to keep it all straight. Not sure why it needs to be so complex and secretive???
I buy what I "need" from a place that offers the best value for my scrappy dollars. Often that has been 2 Peas because they offer such a wide selection that I can save on shipping simply by buying from this one store rather than several online stores.
However, I'm honestly left with an icky taste over this. Offer a sale if you wish - but this only entire program where SOME customers are "valued". Not such a happy - scrappy feeling here right now, 2 Peas!
Edited to add: I agree with Pennyscraps. Most scrappers CAN do the math!

I think it's an incentive for those who normally don't shop here to maybe consider making purchases now. For instance, a non-Two Peas shopper has 7500 points..hmmm, I dont want these to go to waste, so I'll make a purchase. |

Eh. I had literally just filled up my cart, was planning to assemble a few more things and check out in a couple of days, and suddenly my discount was gone. I've been letting my cart sit there since the changeover. I post a moderate amount (probably five posts a day or so) and I am still nowhere near even a 5% discount; it isn't likely I'm getting to a discount any time soon. I ended up going to Ben Franklin to get the various Crate Paper valentine's items that I wanted, and I have a bunch of stamps sitting in my cart here now that I may or may not at some point purchase.
I am not annoyed at Two Peas for eliminating the discount program, really. I shop online primarily because I want the variety. Probably all that the new discount program will do for my shopping here is make it so that I am less likely to place an order when I have something specific I am purchasing -- if I know I want the Crate Paper Fourteen line, I'll just pop out to buy it in person, and wait to shop here until I have something hard to find that I can't buy locally.

I do like the program, but I agree with a lot of what other ladies have said. I did lose my incentive to buy what was in my cart since I went from 15% discount down to 5%. I really don't plan on buying anything till it builds back up. That 15% is why I was so loyal to 2peas.
But at the same time, it has been really fun being more active here on the forum and posting my first two layouts!

Still don't like it.
It still barely makes a dent in the 50,000 points you need to get a 15% discount. You still have to spend over $4200 a year to qualify for %15. Plus now you are stuck with all these silly rules and games of how many more layouts or posts do I NEED to make this month to get my max # of points allowed. Bah!
Call a spade a spade, and just admit that you are "basically" doing away with the %15 discount. |

Honestly, as far as my spending here is concerned, they will lose. I was doing ALL my scrappy online shopping here because of the 15% discount I received. I'll probably continue to shop here occasionally because they do have a good selection, but I'll spend a good deal of money at other stores now.
I'm not crazy about having to jump through hoops (posting layouts, posting on message boards, etc.) to earn points when spending money here used to be enough. There are times when I didn't feel like posting, but I was still here, looking and reading and being enabled and buying. Now I feel like I don't have to spend as much time here. I'm FREE!!! lol

While it hasn't made me post any more or less than I usually do, I'm glad it's been incentive for people to participate more, but...
Ten years ago I joined 2peas for the store. It was a couple years before I even realized there was a message board or a gallery. This is where I do my online shopping, and since my LSSs closed, where I do the bulk of my scrapbook shopping, mostly because of the variety and the free shipping, and to support a smaller business. With my 10% loyalty discount it was cheaper for me to shop here than drive to Archivers (and pay for gas and tolls). If I went to As for a big sale or to use a coupon on a bigger item, I window shopped the paper and embellies and then came here to order. Then I went from a 10% discount to 4100 points. I get that they can do away with the discount at any time. As i said in a previous thread, the discount was a nice perk, but not my main reason for shopping here. What bothers me is the previous top tier is now the "you're finally worthy of being in the know" tier.
This weekend at a crop, when people were showing off cool new scrappy stuff, instead of making a note to check 2peas, I started making note of where they shopped. Sale price, low shipping and get it in a couple days? Great. It never occured to me to shop somewhere else But, if after 10 years I'm not even special or "loyal" enough to come even close to a discount or warrant a head's up on sales, then I can spend my money elsewhere without guilt.

^^ This.
I went from 15% to 5%. That's a lot of paper. And paying shipping on an order where I *might* get bumped back up to 15% costs me $7-$10, which > than 15% savings on a $50 order. I can do math very well. And I will always shop smart. |

I think the old program had a 10% discount if you spent $500 within 12 months and 15% if you spent $1000. At one point I think it changed from calendar year to past 12 months. There were no requirements to post on the message boards or upload projects. |

I didn't get the bonus points either, so I figured that they probably don't want my business anymore, perhaps because I live outside the US? Or because I spoke up in the threads about the new program? Who knows.
I had been on 15% for a couple of years and then down to 10% the last couple of months. Now, nothing. It's all right. Things happen, they certainly had the right to change the program. But the *way* they did this... ouch!
I'm slowly adjusting mentally to no longer being a "loyal pea". So, as a result, I am no longer a loyal pea. KWIM?
I don't doubt that I will get the maximum posting points every month, because I have been very active here for a long time and I will continue to hang around this place and take part of the wonderful free inspiration and the interesting and fun chats here on this MB. This place is the best!! But I won't post here just for the sake of earning points.
I choose not to make 13 projects each month to upload to the gallery, though. That would be like suddenly having an extra part time job! And I don't need more of those. lol!
So, while I will continue to be loyal to this wonderful community, the store and shopping there won't be of much interest to me, to be perfectly honest. Not because I lost the discount - I am fine with that - but only because of the way it all was handled.

I didn't get the bonus points either, so I figured that they probably don't want my business anymore, perhaps because I live outside the US? Or because I spoke up in the threads about the new program? Who knows.
Of course they still want your business. If you're curious why you didn't get the 5,000 bonus points, why not send them a private message and ask?

Yes, they want the business, but they can't/don't want to give the discounts anymore (at least not to the level they were before). I understand the economy sucks, and the hobby industry has, I'm guessing, taken a big hit. And postal rates have gone up.
BUT...I've spent the majority of my hobby money here, to support a site that I love. I know I haven't spent as much as some, and I've spent more than others, but I consistently shopped here placing probably an order a month, sometimes more. There were times I placed an order elsewhere for whatever reason and actually felt bad about it. Not anymore.
I have absolutely no intentions, nor desire, to work at getting a discount. I still feel they made the point levels out of reach for a reason--they don't want people to reach them. Or, at the least, make lots of money while people spend lots of money to get the 15% discount they had earned before. I get it, it's a business, and I'll do business with a place I can get the most bang for my buck, which probably won't be here.
Just last weekend other online sites were offering 20% off, to anyone and everyone. Here, I was dropped to the 5% (which is down from the 15% I had been at just a few days prior), and I wasn't offered the additional 10% that others here were given.
If 2Peas wants to selectively award discounts, they're going to attract selective shoppers, myself included.
I will continue to support 2Peas because of the community, and the free classes. So my money will be spent on workshops that pop up that interest me. I bought 9 of the 13 workshops offered last year, and will continue to buy those because they aren't available anywhere else. Besides that, except for exclusive stamps, nothing here can't be bought elsewhere, for less money and faster shipping. |

Well, I still think it sucks. I've gone from a 15% discount to 5%. If I use the extra 10% off coupon, I don't get the $10.00 off shipping.
It really irritates me.
but I love that I keep getting points for complaining about the program. |

I just went and looked, and I have $100.00 worth of product in my cart and shipping is $17.00. No way. No freakin' way.
Or, if I want to wait 2 weeks (I do live in the US) for SurePost, I can pay $7.00.

That could be interesting. I might just do that.

You're too funny!
Yes, it's been a lot of whining and complaining about this program. I can just see Two Peas' management rolling their eyes and wishing us to stop already! lol! Oh no, not today, again?! And it may seem unnecessary, since all we have to do is shut up, take our money and go else where.
But hey, Two Peas is one of perhaps five (5!) companies in the whole wide world that I currently have (had) a deep, loyal and loving relationship with. One day I got dumped! Totally out of the blue, and they didn't even bother to send me an e-mail to break up and tell me "it's not you, it's us"! They let me know through my pea friends here on the message board. So, I guess that's why I am a bit grumpy, instead of just leaving quietly to seek another love...eehm company. heh!
