I thought we could put together a list of things to include in our PL when maybe our week wasn't as exciting as we wished - and when we don't want to use a bunch of filler.

Shopping lists, receipts, recipe cards with something new you tried that week.

Tags from something new you purchased.

Basically any memorabilia or ephemera...the kind of thing you might put in a smash book, but in a more orderly way.

If that week includes a birthday of a relative or ancestor or old friend, maybe you can include an older photo and a few lines about that person.

Becky Higgins has some GREAT ideas for everyday photos here, if that's the type of thing you were looking for.
I'd love to hear other's ideas too!

How about taking the date and doing a list? So today you could do 17 Things in my Fridge or the top 17 on the billboard countdown.

Cathy Z did a "What we are reading" with pics of book covers and a little blurb. You could do that with music or tv too.

A normal journal is usually more than a line or two per day, so you could write something about how you are feeling or a story about what happened that day.

A headline from the day's news

If you have a smartphone, a screenshot of the weather, Facebook or a text conversation

I did a filler card last week made of a failed cardfront. I was trying to heat emboss but the edge didn't get inked up well 3x4 of it looked great!

If you have kids, a bit of schoolwork or a picture of it works. Or you could have them draw/write about their day on a card of the right size.

A few things I'm trying to incorporate this year:
Funny things the kids say
Pre-cut 4x6 papers and let the kids draw or write what they want
Have the kids write their name throughout the year to see how it progresses
Just a random note about the day, something interesting that happened, etc.
Our favorite recipes
Write down weight and heights of the kids
Telling an older memory that hasn't yet been recorded
Photos of/journal about meaningful items in our home

I listened to a podcast from Paperclipping Roundtable this week that featured Stacy Julian. I don't know if it was a recent one or an old one but she talked about "anytime photos". She spent some time and took random photos of her kids school -- cafeteria, gym, playground (maybe) -- and whenever she needed an extra photo she would go to her "anytime photos". She also mentioned using current events as well.
