But I don't like mini-books. I find them a bit "Precious". I do enjoy small albums, but 6x6 is about as small as I can take.

I feel like I'm a bad scrapper at times, but if there's a class at my local scrap store and it's a mini book, I won't even take the class, even if it's to try out some new product.

What do you hate that everyone around you seems to love?

Well I am just speechless.

I love mini-books! The minier, the better!!!!! I'm just precious like that.

I hate things that look grungy. Like I really don't get why someone would take a perfectly good piece of paper or product and destroy it, grunge it up, jack it up, on purpose.

I'm way too neurotic for that.

There's nothing wrong with that!

Occasionally I'll create a mini, but for the most part I prefer 8x8 or larger layouts... in page protectors! LOL

The few mini's that I've made years ago are starting to look warn, and it kinda makes me feel sad because I put so much time and effort into creating them.

The "distressed" look. Everyone seems to love it but it just doesn't appeal to me. I like bright colors and crisp lines/patterns, fun and/or elegant embellishments and clean layouts. Even seeing some of the techniques demoed (inking etc) I just don't think I'd be able to pull off the distressed stuff because it's not my style.

Same with one-small-photo layouts. I need more picture to my pages than a tiny wallet print.

I have done a lot of 8x8 scrapping and just recently got into doing 6 x 6.

It is easier for me to do the 6x6 as I can always cut a larger sheet down equally or use those mini pads that I have become addicted to!

I don't make them for myself though, every single book I have made smaller than 12x12 has been for a gift.

For me it's the altering of regular scrap stuff -

I don't hate it by any means- I admire the work that goes into it, I guess it's just I feel like I have hardly time to *do* a LO let alone tinker with the supplies I'm using! Lol!

Love the smaller albums like the 6x6 or 8x8 but I generally make those to give away. I scrap in 12x12 for my family albums.

I am not a fan of the whole water color effect that people seem to be crazy for. I don't like water near my crafting area at all!

I am not a fan of mini-books either. I do my own thing, and I think I have only taken about four or five scrapbook classes in more than 11 years of scrapbooking - none of these five classes had anything to do with mini-books.

I don't hate them though. They just aren't my thing. I didn't even think 8.5 x 11 layouts were my thing when I first started scrapbooking, even though in 2001 more than half the scrapbooks and scrapbook papers were that size.

I love the look and the idea of mini books -- but I never know what to use them for.

I just made a lovely 6x9 in a class -- not sure what's going to go in it though.

I'm not a fan of the big fake flower embelishments on layouts. Like the ones from Prima. It's just not my thing...
I haven't succeeded in creating a mini book I'm happy with so they aren't really my cup of tea either. I just don't think they would last in the long run and it feels like a wasted effort to me

Mini Albums have never interested me in the least. I was pushed to take a class once by Donna Downey herself at CKC in St Loius, but I did not enjoy the class. My preferred canvas is 12 x 12 and I make no excuses. Everyone has their "thing".

I like minis, but rarely make them. I'm another one that usually prefers clean lines and designs. I just purged a small stack of "grungy" papers, and I came across a few sheets of some American Crafts Amplified paper that I'm going to use because it still looks beautiful! Nice clean graphic designs and pretty colors.

Funny you should post this.

Yesterday, I had a flood in my scrap space, and 2 mini albums were ruined. I was like, "shrug. oh well. my paper is safe".

I made them for design team reasons.

They were cute, but no story that couldn't have been told on 1 or 2 LOs. And like noted above, HARD TO STORE! That's why there were sitting in a spot to get wet anyways!

I'm not a fan of vintage, or big crystal swirls.

One thing I love about papercrafting along with all that goes with it, is the many options we have. Things are a matter of taste. Good for everyone who goes with what they like and leaves the rest behind.

I love to look at other people's mini books. I've never made one, but if I did, I would most certainly give it away.

A lot of the minis I've seen have a lot of ribbons or other lumpy "stuff" sticking out. They would get wrecked on my bookshelves, banging around with the big boys.

I work in a library and don't get me started on what comb or spiral binding does to its shelf neighbors. Ugh.

The smallest I have done is a 6x6, a faith journal that will go on till death do us part!

REALLY the thing about mini's is that they don't store well!! Be honest, they are cute as a button but where do you put them???? If there is a lot of bulk they look odd and don't fit on the shelf neatly.

Great post! Made me realize why I don't like to create them...

I store my bulky mini albums in a closed basket, wrapped in tissue paper. It is totally fun to unwrap each one if we want to look at them. I don't tape the tissue, just fold over and under.

While I don't hate it, I only like vintage for heritage pages, and grunge does nothing for me. I tried distressing but it left my pages looking depressed, and I ripped it up (totally) and started over again. I love bright colors, even pastels and whites (not kraft). In the gallery and the store I find there is much more of the vintage/old look, and I skip right past it. My shopping is colorful and happy. Good thing there is something for everyone in this hobby! (But can 2peas stock more stuff for the alone_in and dpolkadots of the world and me?? please??)

I have made some mini books, but in the end I love my traditional scrapbooks. I get burned out on completing minis with my photos. If I make one for a friend, I don't mind making a mini because I make it for them to put photos in. I actually have not made a mini in over a year, & I don't see me making one anytime soon.

I make minis occasionally as gifts, but I am very happy to get back to 12x12 when they're finished. Just not enough space in a mini to get creative for me. The last one I did was a 6x6 wedding album for a friend and I didn't get to use half the stuff I had bought for it because by the time I put the photos in there just wasn't enough space left.

I love mini albums of all sizes, although I don't think I've made one smaller than 6x6. I don't really get the 1 small photo on a 12x12 page. If I have only 1 photo that's not so good, I'll use a smaller canvas. I have tried it, especially with digi, but it's not my thing.

i've made 2 minis, both as gifts. practical for someone else when you only have a handful of photos and not as much to record.

i don't like those stamps of the cartoonish girls that everyone colours in, mostly for cards (stamping bella style). they are cute i guess but all look the same to me.

Like I really don't get why someone would take a perfectly good piece of paper or product and destroy it, grunge it up, jack it up, on purpose.

If you had boys you might come to love the grungy look. They are perfect for teen boys layouts.

I'm not a big stamper. I really don't like the way stamps look, except for some word and alphabet stamps. But colored in shapes are just not my thing.

I think mini albums are cute but they would end up in a junk drawer at my house.

There's really not too much I don't like. I feel like I have multiple scrap identity disorder. I do everything in my life according to my mood. If I'm feeling blah, I may reach for some water colors, or if I'm feeling sentimental I may go for some vintage cuteness, but when I feel just fine and dandy, nothing is better than a clean, simple, polished LO with beautiful brights!
I've given away several mini's and honestly, when people see them for the first time they are just stunned. Those looks on their faces are why I make them. They're completely priceless.

I used to feel that way but I enjoy making mini albums. After that I need the space fr 12x12. I just get satisfied from making an album from scratch. They are always gifts and are well received the last one I did was for 4x6 photos so once the album wss done the rest was easy

I like the idea of a mini, I even toyed with the idea of making one for my grandma's 87th birthday this year. Then I realized it would be 1) lots and lots of work to include everyone in the family( there are 70 of us) 2. Loved just as much as a 12x12 ( my grandma loves anything and everything people give to her- here granny, here is a rock I picked up out of the driveway-oh, I love it! It is the best rock I ever got~ I have witnesses this conversation).

Maybe mini's would work for some occasions, just not mine

I don't get the grunge look either. Or, 'product vomit' as someone put it, or the one tiny photo on a page, or the all 'white washed'look, including the photo. <<<shrug>>> To each his own, I suppose.

As for mini albums, I like them and have made a few. I just don't 'get' making them without a purpose. I've made a couple of those for a friend, but for the most part, I only make mini albums if I have a specific purpose/specific set of pictures to put in it. I prefer having the photos on hand and working them into the album as I go.

The few mini albums that I've made and kept are stored in a basket. I have one that's stored in one of those boxes that looks like a book - I happen to see it a Ross and the print went really well with the 'theme' of the album and the papers I used in it and my mini fit perfectly in the box! That particular box/album is on a shelf.

I think mini albums are cute but they would end up in a junk drawer at my house.

I am afraid that would be my fear about anything smaller than 8x8 - Cute as heck but more a dust collector (and I have scads of those already) than a keeper. AND they often seem to have the most expensive embellishments on them like Jjmitrut mentioned.

BUT CUTE really cute

I think I only ever finished two mini books since I started scrapping. I decided a while ago that I really don't like them and threw out so many started at crop/class. I think I have kept one that has been started and not yet finished and that still may end up on the bonfire.

I just can't figure out how to store them and then of course I really struggle with scrapping any less than 12x12 ... I just need the space for all the 'stuff' I like to put on a page!

The other thing I don't feel inspired by is any type of project life, 365 etc etc type project. Just TOO much pressure! Plus my life is incredibly boring. I started photo a day in January and did two days!

ETA I've also started purging my scrap room and the spare room that has all the overflow of stuff in it. Mainly things bought for altering. Why I will never know. I have got boxes of tins and boxes and clipboards and whatever else you can imagine ready to go to crop to RAK or the charity shop to donate. I've also put in the rubbish ready for the bonfire a whole selection of 'altered items' (mainly for DT or challenges) that were just stuck in boxes and taking up room.

I like mini albums, just not the bulky overdecorated ones. The ones I have done are mostly for gifts or something small for one occasion - wedding, birthday, holiday, etc. I don't care for all the bling, a few rhinestones is ok, but not the entire page. I prefer pretty simple lines with just a few embellishments. Not much for grunge but a little bit is OK, like the distress inks and muted scrapbook paper as backgrounds.

I love the look of mini albums but I find making them to be a bit redundant since I'm OCD about scrapbooking and would have to make 12x12 layouts of the same things that I'd put in a mini. I do December daily but that's about it

I strongly dislike mini-books. I hate to be doing one project for so long, I get bored. i barely have the attention span for one LO at a time. lol.
I do December Daily every year, but that's because the season is so busy for me that it's the only way I can manage to scrap during that time. But I can't see myself doing a mini for any other occasion. Maybe "Baby's Firsts" but that's it.
I dislike PL because of that too. To be tied down to one project for a year is too much pressure. I like the idea and the look, just not the process.

Boy...you all are making me rethink what I was thinking of teaching at my LSS for their Ranger workshop. I have made two projects, a mini and a wall hanging, and am trying to decide which I should turn in as my project to teach.

I pretty much scrap totaly 12x12 and find it VERY difficult to use just a single photo. Maybe its because I take so many photos that I feel I need to use more than one. I also have a hard time using flowers.

Love them for others but they make me nervous.

I tend to be chrono inclined and the idea of little mini books floating around that I may or may not notice are missing from the larger stock of books makes me antsy.
