No, because I think "like" buttons significantly reduce the amount of real, tangible feedback and discussion. People would much rather click a button instead of taking an extra minute to type out their thoughts.

biochemipea makes a good point. The "like" button would make the gallery too much like pinterest and I think the whole point of 2peas is the community you get when joining. |

While it would be easier to have a like button I agree I think we would lose the "community" aspect that I love so much here.

Yes, there is a "like" button right below "Action" on the right. So us Peas can do both- comment and like. |

In the gallery there is a like button, but I've been seeing more and more references to wanting one here on the message board, too. I assumed that was what the OP was talking about.

I agree with both of Ashley's posts and don't want a Like button.
It would cut down on actual posts and be bad for the community. I don't really get the point of them. When I see something has "18 Likes" it does nothing for me as a reader. If I see 5 one-sentence comments, I get enjoyment from reading all 5 contributions.
I don't think Two Peas as a business would benefit from it either. |

As others have said, I think most of the messageboard would become threads with one or two posts then a load of 'likes'. Not very interesting to read. Even where different people are saying essentially the same thing in their reply, it's still good to see the different comments.
I can see the benefit more in the gallery, but I love reading comments in there too to see if what I like about the layout I'm looking at is the same thing other people like, for example. I suppose I view the 'like' in the gallery as a sort of generic 'nice layout' response, or if you're in a hurry, whereas comments are for complimenting something about it in particular, of if you've got a bit more time |

I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, it sure is nice to click a button and have the orginal poster know that there are those out there who agree. However, it does make it so much easier to just move on and not leave any meaningful conversation.
There is a "like" button in the gallery and I definitely think it has reduced the number of comments people leave on layouts and projects in the gallery. I remember in the good old days when a particularly beautiful page would receive pages of comments! Likes are nice, but everyone appreciates a nice comment now and then. |

I don't think they need a 'like'
Perhaps if they made a way to leave a very quick message with no emoticons or quotes it would make it easier. Something like the new way we leave comments in the gallery without loading a new page twice.
But I don't think a like button is really needed. It doesn't take that long to write 'like this' if that's all you want to say. |

I would LOVE a "Like" for the Forums. I think they've ensured that people won't stop commenting/posting by giving us shopping incentive points for our full posts, so now it's safe (from a business stand point) to let us just quickly and quietly agree with someone.
