Ok, here it is Peas,
I didn't know I was in the market for a printer until all the recent Selphy posts. Long story short, lost my mom unexpectedly 6mos ago...was making 5 memorial mini albums (8x8, so not so mini) for my 5 brothers for Christmas. Well the bases are all done, but I was not emotionally ready to "deal" with the picture part during the saddest Christmas of my life..so needless to say, I'm just getting to print the pics and complete these 5 albums. Got me thinking would sure be nice to be able to print these at home, as some I need are smaller than 4x6, like wallet would work. So, forward to last night....wanted reviews on the Selphy...was compared to the Epson Charm...read reviews on that one as well. From what I can tell, both of these produce excellent prints. I am not concerned about printing away from home, or from my phone, as, well, frankly my phone is not so ummmm smart. What matters to me is I can print from my external hard drive or my sd card. And pic quality, also would like the option to print smaller than 4x6, even like the border or borderless option, but that alone is not a deal breaker. Now, from the reviews, (amazon) one review that concerned me, was in regards to the Charm...it said you run out of ink 3/4 way thru and then you have all these blanks left (cuz you can't just purchase the ink alone). Also said that if you don't use weekly (and there will be times I may not print for a month), that you have to "prime" printer, which of course drains ink once again, leaving you out of ink before you run out of paper. IF this is the case, then I think this printer wouldn't work for me. I don't do DD, PL....I typically mostly print 4x6 for scrapbooking, with sometimes 3x5 or wallets. I will be printing the pics I need for this project tomorrow at either Walmart or Walgreens, and honestly prolly will not be purchasing a printer until next month (as I dropped two bills at M's last night..lol) but would truly appreciate your input on these two, so I will know which one will work best for my needs. Sorry for the book, and truly thank you for any input on this!

You will get a lot of different opinions here. I like the Selphy a lot. It prints great pictures. It does only print glossy (they are pretty much the same as snapfish). I had a Charm and hated it. I had a bunch of problems with wasting ink and the pictures not printing properly.

I like having a home printer to print one of this and one of that, but if I were doing multiples like that for an album, I'd get them done online or at the store. I don't have the patience to sit here and print out 5 copies of X number of different pics and for large volume printing online is probably cheaper.

Sillymae, ty for the link...I had read that complete thread, it was on the Selphy, not really comparing the differences with the Charm. But I did notice one or two that owned the Charm and got the Selphy as well.
Luvmyson- ty...you confirmed one reviewers testament on Amazon about wasting ink on the Charm. I think I'd choose the Selphy based on that. TY
Mirabelleswalker - Yes, for the pics for the albums, I am getting them printed this week at Walmart or Walgreens - will def be more cost effective for the number I'll need.
Ty all for your replies...got what I needed to know!
