I got a Silhouette for Christmas, so I'm a newbie at this. I apologize for the dumb question!
I have a couple of files that have multiples on them--say four arrows. How do I get it to cut just one arrow at a time, rather than all four every time I cut that file? Or is that not possible?
I am not versed in design software, so I'm really stuck here.
Thanks in advance! | |

Hello ! All you need to do is take the entire image (if you click on the image is will form a box arount the whole thing) then go down into the bottom left corner and you will see the 'ungroup' icon. Click on that and then go back up to your design and click on each arrow and you shoudl be able to move them individualy. Hope this makes sense!

Yes, I saw that option, but it's grayed out and not available.

make sure the entire image is "highlighted" > then right click > you will see ungroup > click on and delete any images you don't want > highlight the remaining image > right click > click regroup
hope this helps... | |

Nope. I did a 'select all' and group/ungroup is still grayed out. The whole image is selected or highlighted when you get the light gray lines showing the measurements, right?
Aargh. This is making me wish I still had my Cricut.

I was just able to do it to another file. Maybe it's these particular files? Like the designer set them up so they can't be ungrouped? I bought them from Studio Calico.

If you can't ungroup the images Go to the Object menu (on the top) and select "release compound path".

Thank you all for trying to help me! I was working with a png file, not a cut file (DOH!). I found a Heidi Swapp video that straightened me out. I'm so dumb about this stuff...

Another trick which works for me:
Then, go to the button on top-it's gray with a blue "M" on top.
Click on the grouping of items.
Go to "detach lines"
Now, I can take apart my grouping and do what I need with one thing.
