I am finishing up my December/Christmas layouts and putting them in an album. They are mainly of the kids, but also some of DH and I. I'm working on a page of my son and daughter right now and have several LO of them together and individually. Do you put them in albums chronologically or one for him/her/family, etc.? I'm still fairly new to scrapbooking, so there are still things that elude me. lol!

I arrange them however the mood strikes me. I do put activities together, like opening presents, singing, eating. There are no scrapbook police so do what makes sense to you and makes you happy.

I guess it depends on what you plan to do with your albums. If they are all for you then you could just do them chronologically. If you plan to gift them to your children when they are older then perhaps do one for each of them.
I have a wedding album (of all the weddings we attend), a high school album, uni album, family album and album about my life in general. I don't have strict organisation because I scrap very randomly and I leave lots of things out.
I don't have kids so everything I do is for me and it can be organized as randomly as I want.
|Posted: 1/22/2013 6:59:25 AM|Mine too are chronological.. when they make it into albums. LOL
I have quite a few Iris boxes full of LO's that need to go in books. I have vacation albums and yearly family albums that everything gets lumped into. I don't make separate albums and triplicate pages for the kids.

I do an album for each of my kids and also a more general family album. For something like Christmas, all 3 books will get pages.

I used to be obsessive about keeping them chronological but well I don't scrap that way anymore so they just go in the albums any which way for that year. It makes it a lot easier on me. I did fiddle with the idea of rearranging them all by month/year but would only be able to do that if we were locked in the house for a few days LOL
|Posted: 1/22/2013 7:39:16 AM|It really doesn't matter how you put them in if it makes you happy .If I was a newbie I would start a album for each of my kids so some of the layouts would go in each of their albums .I am now trying to go back and do each one a album and it is hard .When I go I would like each to have their own album so there is no fighting .I do have a separate one for my dh and me which will probably go to the oldest .I wish I had kept this in mind in the beginning .Just something to think about .It makes each one feel special .I am working hard on the oldest grandsons I wanted to get his done for graduation and missed that now I hope to get it finished before he gets married of coarse it might be for his 35 wedding anniversary

3. oldest son's school layouts
4. youngest son
5. youngest son's school
all of these are arranged chronologically-- i don't scrap chronologically but i arrange them that way- i just spent 2 hours on saturday putting 2 years worth of layouts in the books-- i used d ring binders. it makes it so much easier!

I do everything chronologically. I have an ongoing family album, the kids have their school albums and I do an ongoing Christmas album.

I'm another chronological scrapper. But I also have an album for each of the kids with their yearly school portraits and I sometimes make separate albums for vacations if I have a lot of LOs and I also have a bunch of mini-albums. My general 12x12 LOs all go in the same album in chronological order.

I just revamped my system with some help from the Peas.
1) about me
2) about DH
3) about our cats
4) one for DS
5) one for dd
6) one for traveling
8) family and friends
9) oh and Christmas!!
I think that's it...
Just me in MI
|Posted: 1/22/2013 10:53:11 AM|My kids are grown & have albums(life & sports) that I did for their high school graduation; birth through graduation.
Now I do my family album, DH's family Christmas, my family Christmas, our family Christmas(w/ kids & grands), Relay for Life,Family Reunions, church happenings.
Plus others...but they are all chrono. Maybe not scrapped chrono but put into albums in order. Listing them out got me kinda dizzy...didn't think I had that many going, hahaha.

Old habits die hard, so I am using post bound albums and my layouts go into the album as I finish them. I am planning to switch to a D-ring binder system soon so that I can save on space and my plan is to do a modified version of Stacy Jullian's Photo Freedom/Library of Memories.
1) Places We Go
Once I have gone through my albums I might add more categories.
|Posted: 1/22/2013 6:10:55 PM|
I put everything in chronological order, even though I don't scrap that way.
|Posted: 1/22/2013 6:27:04 PM|
I also put my LO's in albums in chronological order but I do not scrap that way. I scrap what I am in the mood to tell a story of. I have changed how I store my LO's over the years so it might take you awhile to find what works best for you.

I used to be chronological, but found I got weird about things like scrapping my childhood.
So I switched to using the Photo Freedom method (also called Library of Memories). I have separate albums for my different categories - All About Us, People We Love, Events Worth Celebrating, and Places Worth Seeing.
If these layouts were about the holidays, they would go in my events album. If they were about our relationship or something about us as a family, they would go in the All About Us album.

|Posted: 1/22/2013 8:39:48 PM|When my layouts are completed I store them in chronological order in a postbound album for that year but I do not scrap in chronological order.
I actually use a 3 ring WRMK album for a working album. I put the pictures in the 4x6 pages grouped by event. I then grab what ever pictures I feel like working on, do the layout and put it in a 12x12 page protector in back of the same book with the unscrapped pictures. When the next layout is completed I add that to the completed section in chronological order. When all of the pictures are scrapped, the whole album is in order but I didn't scrap in order. I transfer it to the post bound album and use the working album for another years worth of pictures. I have several working binders going so I don't feel like I am stuck with pictures that I really don't want to work on just because they are the next ones in line.

I like to organize my layout in chronological order. I generally scrapbook chronologically as well.

I put my pages chronologically, except for mini travel albums.
It's how I want them to see, not something necessarily.
