Help! I'm trying to decide if a studio calico is worth the subscription! I'm wanting their project life kit which I LOVE but it's 25 bucks a month... almost the same price as a BH core kit..... I've never done PL but I'm starting this year and I love the fresh colors of the SC kits. Those of you who have the SC PL kit from Jan do you love it? Do you have enough product for the entire month? I'm just afraid I won't love everything in the kit and then regret it later.... tell me you thoughts Studio Calico subscribers!! |

I the January SC PL kit, super fun.
I love the random bits that you get with SC kits.
i don't think that there are enough cards to do a complete month of spreads especially if you are doing double page spreads, as there are only 31 cards.
Here's the way I look at all SC kits. I get whichever ones I want, use what I want out of them and sell the rest to recoup back some of my scrappy funds SC products re-sell VERY well! Especially stamps and exclusive items.

It's not enough to do a whole month but it's super cute. Citrus Twist is my favorite and it's packed! Too much repetition in the BH kits for me. |

I love the main SC kit. Love it.
I got the PL kit. It didn't arrive until last Monday, but had January/New Year's items in it. I don't love the kit, honestly. I do love the stamps in it--they are versatile and there are a lot of it. The washi is fine -- I have a ton of washi. The cards? Well, there just aren't enough of them, I don't think. And a lot of the 3*4 cards are oriented horizontally, which isn't awesome for Design A addicts. There aren't that many journaling cards. Basically, considering that core kits from BH are $30 and last a year easily, even if you get bored and don't like the repetition, for $240/year, I would hope that my PL subscription would give me everything I need. | |

I'm with epeanymous. I'm on the West Coast so my SC stuff never shows up earlier than the 10th of the month and this month it was the 14th due to the holidays. Fortunately I do PL biweekly so I wasn't "behind" but it was annoying to not be able to work on the cover page and also to hear everyone else who got their kit sooner.
For $20 I don't think it's a great deal, though if you sold the stamp set for $10, that would be fine for the cards. There are definitely not enough cards to do 4 weeks of 2 page layouts. I do 2 x 2 page layouts per month and I'm pretty sure there aren't even enough cards for that in the Jan kit, without me digging into the rest of my stash.
There's also the quality control issues they've been having lately with stamps (not this kit, but others), and the too-big cards in the January kit, and the free gift with the raggedy edges. I know it's free, but it was meant as a gift to offset the fact that the 3x4 cards were too large for the page protectors so it's kind of ironic that we got the "rejects" that couldn't be sold in the shop to make us feel better about another quality issue.
I do love SC's design choices and products, which is why I still subscribe, but it's definitely not "enough" for PL on its own, and at $20/mo that's pretty steep. I'm not sure I'll continue past the 6 month term. |

I really like the kit a lot!!! I would agree I have mixed in some stuff from my stash. But with all the mixed reviews out there, I think you just need to determine if you like the aesthetic on their kits in general, then you have your answer.
And I personally love the kit and think $20 is pretty affordable considering that I loved pretty much every little bit of that kit....and made several fewer trips to other craft stores because of that kit!!! |

I think it is worth the money for sure, the cards are much thicker than the BH cards, and all the different wee bits are fabulous, i am so glad i signed up and only $19 a month |
