I just want to open the door a crack and let her out, but she has a problem with her leg and I have to leash walk her. No running or jumping allowed.
To top it off, winter is her favorite season. She LOVES the cold. She'd happily sit on the porch and roam the yard for hours in this weather. Have you ever tried to keep a rambunctious big dog from running?

Oh I am sorry I know that is hard! My dog had a very serious platelet problem and she was not allowed to do steps run or jump or play. All things she loves to do. It was a long long four weeks!
Good luck!! |

Our dog is wimpy and doesn't like cold weather at all, preferring to watch squirrels from a warm couch. I hope your guy gets better very soon so he can enjoy the rest of winter. (I just noticed you're in MA, too. I fear we are just beginning to experience the season, so there's lots of time left for your pup!) |

Yes. We have a lab puppy and had her spayed a few months ago. I was pretty successful at keeping her quiet when she was on pain meds because she was groggy, but when I started weaning her off the mess, she was ready to run. She ended up popping a stitch just rolling around on the carpet. It was a long 10 days!
Our girl loves the cold, too. It was 17 degrees this morning (cold for us!) and she spent quite a bit of time out there this morning sniffing. She likes to sniff the leaves and then flip them over to smell the other side! |

Fortunately when we had our Lab spayed it was in the middle of a grueling heat wave so she wasn't too interested in playing outside. It's cold here too and she so desperately wants someone to come outside and throw the ball to her.
Hope your dog is better soon!! |

Thanks, she really really wants me to throw the ball outside. I don't even want to poke my nose out there!
She's driving me nuts with this leash pottying thing. She walks me in circles around the yard sniffing EVERYTHING. For half an hour. She follows my footprints around the yard -- the footprints that I just made with her! I'm shivering and telling her "Go Already!!!"
She was barely able to walk last week and had a nasty infection on her leg. The vet thinks she kept licking her leg because it hurt and that caused the infection. She was x-rayed up and down both front legs and nothing showed up. We're hoping that no exercise and some pain killers allow it to heal.
