It's share your quilt day. Let's catch up on where we are in our quilting this week.
Have you finished a quilt?
Have you finished a next step in what you are working on?
Have you chosen fabric?
If not, share a quilt or group of fabrics you found/bought this week.
Fabric: Tell us what you like and know about fabric.
My progress:
Bought my rotary cutter
Bought the color catcher and last piece of fabric is in washer, now.
Weekend will be spent cutting and moving forward.
Fabric:
I've been going through clothes to send to Good Will and held back a few pieces to cut into pieces...including several pair of jeans and some black and white gingham.
Looking for Laura Ashley like baby rose buds in red or red with blue rosebuds and same in blue to use in a red and blue flowered quilt with a denim back...similar to this:
I'll be popping into GCF and Salvation army whenever I pass by for blouses and skirts in that fabric and anywhere there is fabric, which is few and far between where I live. |

A couple of baby quilts I've finished recently:
And here is a small part of the wedding dress quilt that is crazy!
I am also working on a paper pieced Bella Bella quilt and then an English paper pieced Lucy Boston quilt. Yep, I'm officially crazy! In the beginning I was going to stick to one quilt at a time LOL....now it depends on my mood!

Those reds and blues of that quilt are very pretty, Carol.
I've completed the blocks for my cross quilt this week, but it's on hold until I buy more chambray fabric for the sashing. I ran out.
Now I'm working on a 4 patch quilt. I finished the blocks last night. I'm adding a 1/2 inch white border to each block, then will sash the rows with a patterned fabric.
Sorry the images are huge. I linked them from my blog.

I love the rainbow baby quilt! And the cross quilt blocks with the gray--those are really neat fabrics.
Using a wedding dress as part of a quilt is brilliant! I can't believe I never thought to do that. I've been wondering whether or not I should save my dress since I never had it preserved and it just takes up space and has been for 11 years. Use it in a quilt! I love this idea. Thank you! |

The wedding dress quilt was my sister's idea. Her dress is a larger size, she has no kids and doubts any nieces will fit it. So she took it apart and I used the train down the middle and then other pieces for the circles and flowers.
I was able to use a 108" backing that I found rather than piecing the top.
But this is a king sized and very very heavy. I was hoping to put the train on last, but really needed it there first to be able to "size" the other pieces. I truly have designed this as I go. It was just too hard to try to design it all first and get all the proportions correct.
Right now, I am quilting it on my Handiquilter Sweet Sixteen sitdown....Sometimes I get tired and put it away for a little while but my goal is to have it complete by the end of March.

I love the fabric on those cross blocks! So different. And the wedding dress quilt, what a great idea.
I finished a table runner this weekend. I had 4 blocks that I had pieced a while ago when practicing to make a quilt for ds. I pieced the blocks from little scraps and had them around for more than a year until I figured that I could put them together to make a runner. I quilted it and did the border in a couple of hours. I am sure that the runner has a million mistakes, but I love the way it came out

If you like quilting check out the website Craftsy. Just finished the last block from the class 2012 block of the month(total 20 blocks)still need to add the sashing and finish. Haven't started on the 2013 quilt.
These classes are free but they have an assortment of other great classes for a minimal fee. The great thing is you have lifetime access to the classes.

Maite- love the table runner! I like the block look, will have to try it on my next one.
Carol, I have been finding great fabrics at my local GW (Goodwill) in the form of sheets, pillow shams, tablecloths etc. But now I have to find other fabrics to go with. More shopping I guess
Here is the fabric my DH got me for Christmas. It is Double Chocolat by Moda. I have a package of charm squares and 2 packages of mini charms and 1 yard of the brown with small red flowers. I am planning on making a quilt that will go across the end of the bed. This is one layout I was considering:

I finally finished the first top I ever pieced. My DD was having her first baby and asked me to make a specific quilt for her. Before I made the quilt for the baby I needed to practic so this is the quilt I made.
The center inside the borders is the exact size of the quilt I made for the baby. I wasn't a quilter and had no idea what to do but with some help from a couple of great ladies in the quilt shop I learned how to do HST (Half square triangles), how to square up a block, 1/4 seam allowance, and matching seams. I added the borders to make it big enough for me to use.
I didn't like the quilting I had started on the borders so put it aside and was a bit discouraged cause I was so new to quilting. Well yesterday I ripped out 15 rows of straight line stitching along the one side of the border I had finished and then I FMQ'd it with a bit of a meander. It turned out great and I'm happy with it.
So this not only the first quilt top I ever pieced,it's also the first quilt I machine quilted entirely by myself.
and here's the back

Love the chevron one I think that is next on my list. Did you use ten inch squares like she Dixon the Missouri star quilt tutorial?
I haven't done any sewing lately but our blog has some great quilts on it.

Oh I love everyone's quilts, they're very well done.
As for the week, well I haven't done well. I washed my fabric and one of them bled. I've washed it twice with oxiclean and it looks ok.
I did buy this for my Paris theme quilt.

A lot of quilting planning going on. Loving the fabric, love the wedding dress quilt...great way to cherish a wedding dress that was not preserved or that was ruined in some way. Love the Pairs fabric, and chocolate. Everything shared is great.

Chevron quilts are one of my favorites, I've made 2 but used several different colors for both. At some point I want to make a simple 2 color version.
Nantini, what line are your Paris fabrics/ where did you get them? I love the glittery touches, DD loves fabrics with a bit of sparkle.
I'm finally putting the binding on the Tshirt quilt I've been working on. She wanted Black sashing and grey backing, so I used this Magic Binding Tutorial so that from the back the binding is black but there is a grey trim on the front.

I can't wait to see the Paris quilt finished! Hurry, hurry.

The quilt I made for the baby is 2 colors - dark grey and cream. Binding is orange. |
