I've very rarely flown Southwest because they didn't fly where I usually go and the airport they leave out of is kind of inconvenient.

However, they're adding a route this spring and I'm looking to book a flight for the summer.

Last week, one of the flights I was looking at was $89 one way ( I should have booked then, I know!) Now it's $129.

Should I wait it out a bit and see if it varies again and do they usually just go up as the dates get closer?

Yes, they do. Especially this far out. They run a different sale every Tuesday which typically lasts until Thursday. Check back every week. No guarantee that they will go back down but at least a possibility!

You can always book and then rebook when the price drops. That is the best part of southwest, no fees to change.

Yes they do. We booked flights for Orlando in February. I have been checking the flights periodically and recently they went down a total of $70 for the two of us. I just went in and changed the flights and got the credit.

Our flights were non-refundable so the $70 is on account but we'll find a reason to use them. If your flight is fully refundable, they would credit the amount back to your credit card.

I Southwest!

Thanks! Great tip about changing the flight. Maybe I'll go ahead and book and keep watching.

I'm also looking at a trip to Vegas this year to, so if I got any credit, I could use it!

Install DING! It's a SW desktop app for macs and pc's and it will notify you of any sales on the route you want. And yes, I am positive you will find a deal but watch for date and time restrictions on deal flights.

Use this link to send yourself an email with download instructions.

It's a referral link but I don't get compensation.
