I have known this woman for at least 7 years and have gotten much closer to her in the last 3, so I thought I knew her pretty well. We've shared a lot that other people don't know.

Well, I just found out she plays a rather uncommon instrument. When she was younger she made albums, played concerts all over and went to England to play for the Queen! How did that not come up in conversation in the last 7 years.

I think that's one of the wonderful things about being friends - there's always something new to learn about them.

I thought you were going to post that she was a back-stabber. What a fun, random talent that she has.

How interesting! Would we know her name or would you rather not name her?

How cool! What instrument does/did she play (if you're comfortable sharing that).

I probably never mention to friends that I used to play the violin.

I'm sure some friends don't know I used to play the piano but I'm more inclined to think I'd mention making albums and going to another country to play for the Queen!

That's so cool. I had that happen once. A neighbor was really sweet and we got along so well. She and her husband were here for a few years while he was in grad school -- they had moved here from South America. After more than a year knowing her, I found out she was a major soap opera star in her home country -- she couldn't even go out to the grocery store without signing autographs. It cracked me up because she was the complete opposite of the character she played.

She plays the accordion. I don't think anyone would know her and she is in a different field now where she kind of known in that field. I knew she went to music conservatory and sang and plays the piano. She sings at church all the time.

Or your parents! I recently found out my dad had mumps right after he graduated from college. He had to go home and have his mom take care of him for 6 weeks. And my mom had mono right after HS. She had moved out and went back home for awhile as well. Funny things they never tell you.

Lol.... Thinking how would "that" have ever come up? it's an obscure thing, not likely to come up in regular conversation.

It is fun to discover fun facts though

I know she did research in Africa, that she was a residency away from being a doctor and switch gears when she met her husband, got married and started a family. We've had enough conversations about our pasts that you think it might have come up at some point. The woman has had an interesting life.

Very cool! And refreshing. (I met someone at a party over the holidays and in the half hour that I spoke to her, heard more than I ever would care to about every celebrity encounter--or near-encounter--that she had in her lifetime).

My best friend recently told me she was once but by a zebra on her finger... It nearly bit it off. That was a fun random fact to learn!

I never mention the accomplishments I've had. I was raised to be modest and I guess it 'took', so your friend's not telling you about playing for the Queen doesn't seem unusual.
