Their website is gone!

Their blog is all wonky and not loading properly.

Have they gone out of business? I know they were purchased a while ago and their blog/website seemed to kind of just slow down. The last set of new releases last fall I have only seen at one store.

It seems to be a common death to companies purchased by larger companies. The smaller one that has been incorporated into the larger parent company stays around for a few months-year and then suddenly just disappears. It seems like a good way to wipe out the competition!

I know! I am too. I loved MM stuff. They always seemed like the top company since I started scrapping and finding and buying their products was such a treat. I sorted out a lot off older stuff not too long ago and most of everything I kept was MM.

I will miss them.

It's kind of like losing the old friend that got you started in scrapbooking.

ETA: I still have tons of those eyelets that I bought in the circle packs of 5-6 round plastic cases.

What? Please say it isn't so... some of my most favorite scrappy supplies are MM.

That is too bad. I remember when they came out with paper decorations, maybe that was a big money loser?

It doesn't seem like they have released anything lately, but I did find their blog. They posted on the 17th.

That's a shame. All those eyelets, snaps other and cute metal things.

They were so much fun at CKU too and generous with freebies.

So sad. I used to wait with great anticipation for their products. Their tools were THE hot tickets. I think when they did that line of trophy ribbons was a sign they had list their way.

Their Michaels exclusive Sabrina line and Vintage Notions are my fave lines ever.

They were one of my favorites & I am hoping that there is a big come-back being planned for the name, whatever is going on with them.

I am so glad to have a drawer full of their metals from years ago.

Their tools were THE hot tickets

Yes, they really were the best!!!

I totally agree! When I first bought scrap supplies they had all the best tools and embellishments. I remember having to save up and buy the tool kit in the tin...and I still use it to this day.

They were first bought by ANW/Creativity Works who in turn were bought by Colorbok. They list their website as just the Typepad blog which was updated earlier this week, but it does seem like the main .com site has died its death. They do still seem to be marketing the paper decorations and Sarah Jane line (none of which appeals to me in the slightest, unfortunately).

The Slice went to Elan Innovation; the old WhySlice site is dead and it's now marketed on the Slice Crafts site, where it's pretty much focused on fabric and applique. I was a huge Slice fan for paper, but not so much for fabric.

I am quite saddened at the loss of the "original" Making Memories, and I too still have some of their good ol' basics.

They were one of my favorites as well I had these snaps from them that had to be ancient but I recently used them on some bridal invitations I was making for a customer. I had to go to to eBay in order to find the same snaps so I could finish my invitations. I have that same tool kit that I purchased eons ago and still love to this day. It's so sad to see them go.

I loved their little books of alpha rub ons. I hope they did not go out of business.

Check the website of the company that bought them. When KI got bought out, they took their website down as well and now post their stuff on the Hampton Art blog.

They had the best alpha Rubons. They also had the versatile small alpha sets I still have a bunch of those. Use them all the time.

I think the SJ line would be cute for a little girl.

They had some of the best customer service, too! I had a problem with a package of embellishments and when I called them about it, they sent me a replacement plus quite a few other goodies. LOVED them!

I didn't see MM listed on the Color Bok site when I checked last night. I could have missed it though.

Letting the old website go seems like a poor decision. I would think redirecting to the new parent company website would be much better for their image

I will have to watch for some of their new stuff. They were a big favorite of mine with all the metal embellies, and the rubons were easy to use. I remember years ago being excited for weeks about a huge box of supplies frond eBay that I bought myself for my birthday.

both those lines are older--MM actually was going to release them and then were bought out and they were both July releases with the "new company" when they went to CHA in July.
I just got back from Anaheim CHA and they were not there, nor was Colorbok and as a store owner I have not seen anything showing a new release--yet anyway!! everyone was surprised they weren't at the show as this was their time to come together and show everyone that they are still a strong brand.

To this day I think their rub on books are my favorite ones. Got rid of all other rub ons but those. I aldo love their paper trimmer and that's why own two of them. Their tools were the best. So glad I still have them.

MM's January 17 post on Facebook: "There have been a ton of changes behind the scenes at Making Memories and we know it's been confusing for all of our customers. We wanted to give you a quick update on who to contact if you ever have an issue with our products. Any Making Memories product EXCEPT SLICE is now managed by our team at Colorbök. You can reach them at 1.800.366.4660 or Slice products are no longer a part of our company. For issues with your Slice machine, please email or visit the Slice Crafts facebook page. is currently down, but we hope to have the site live again soon. In the meantime, you can always reach MM here or through our blog. Thanks for all your creativity and your continued interest in our products!"

It's really unbelievable that a company as big and as successful as MM could ever go out of business. They always had the products that everyone used and looked forward to seeing each season. And it looks like they would've been able to buy Colorbok, not the other way around. I hope that Colorbok continues that brand (and the quality) and doesn't let it slip away like so many other "buy-outs" have done. Colorbok used to have a lot more products that I liked too, but now they've also let their brand weaken. I used to love the Susan Branch line they had and their Jill Rinner(?) Perfect Scrapbooks.
I still have much MM in my supplies, esp. paints and brads. And a couple sheets (that I'm SAVING) of my fav. pp of theirs: a scalloped edge circle with black dots on cream in the center and a red and black border. So pretty....

Thanks for posting the update scrap Arcs.

I still have quite a bit of MM stuff, paper, metals and transparencies from various lines. I loved that company, was all over the paint when it first came out lol.

Glad to hear they are getting a site back up soon! It would be weird not seeing them around anymore. I really hope they don't get sucked under.
