Today I just got a new Canon T3i after lots and lots of research. I'm stoked! I've been playing with it and I can tell that it has an easy learning curve. I got it with the standard 18-55MM lens, but I'm planning on ordering some more different lenses. I've a pretty good idea on what ones I want.
I've been visiting this forum and have been reading up on the master list of lessons, but I'll go back now that I have an actual camera.
I've been looking at POTD and the 2013 challenge. Do you just jump in? How does it work? Also, if anyone has any pointers for the forum or for my camera that would be awesome. Any threads that could be helpful would be much appreciated.
I do plan on taking a photography course. Any suggestions? I was wanting to take the Big Picture class: Mastering Manual Load, but they are not offering it now.

Welcome to the photo board and congratulations on the new camera !!
I remember coming here years ago after I had just bought my first DSLR.
It took me a while to really get the hang of it, and what helped me the most was being active on this board. I read everything I could get my hands on, practiced a ton and posted here for feedback from those more experienced than myself. I would not have gotten past some stages without the invaluable feedback. I just didn't "see" stuff the way I needed to without a trained eye.
If you can't find a course, you can follow the "12 weeks to better photos" posted here on your own and post here for feedback. It is explained very well, and I think you will learn a lot using them. I plan on using the turorials to help my daughter and S/O learn how to use my old DSLR's.
