I just threw out 4 dried out Copic markers. As much as I enjoy using them I'm not sure if I am going to replace them. The sticker shock is too painful! LOL I know Copics are considered A+, but what are your favorite non-water based & non-Copic markers? I have some Bic that I use, I just wish they had a colorless blender pen. |

A cheaper way to go is to use the Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. You can get them at AC Moore. They usually have sales on them, a pack of six for $7.88. Of course you can use your coupon too. They are not quite like copics because they have a small nib instead of the brush tip. But I like them and use them a lot. Another color medium that i like -- it looks great and is easy -- is to use colored pencils and odorless mineral spirits. You use a compressed paper pencil, dip it in the spirits and blend the color.

Don't throw out those Copics! Dried out Copic markers are refillable (the nibs are replaceable as well). You can get bottles of refill ink for about $1 more than the price of a sketch marker and one bottle will refill a marker around 13 times. So if you use your Copics frequently the cost of the marker actually goes down over time.
Sorry, I don't have any suggestions for other markers as I love my Copics too much.  |

I will second Stampwilly on the spectrum noirs. Great alternative to copics and eat way cheaper. I really wanted to try copics but couldn't do that price. I purchased mine at Joann's with coupons.
And as she mentioned colored pencils and odorless mineral spirits are inexpensive and easy to get the hang of.
Another option is watercolor pencils and crayons. HTH |

If you already have the bics, you could just use a different blender pen with them while you build your collection of the markers of your choice. |

Thanks so much for your suggestions. Unfortunately today was trash day so they are gone! I knew that I could get replacement nibs for the markers, but for some reason it slipped my mind.
The nibs on them were sooooo dry, even if I refilled the ink, I still would not have been able to use them. That's what I was thinking when I threw them out. I totally forgot about the nibs.
Anyway, I hate buying Copics online because I like to see them! LOL I just have a hard time figuring out what colors I want by looking at color swatches online. I did find another local store that sells the Copics for $5.49 So I may replace a few of them. But I am intrigued by the Promarkers too, so I may try them out too.

I would think any brand blending marker would work with Bic markers. |

I haven't had good results using the Copic blender pen with them, but I did pick up a Prismacolor blender today so hopefully that'll work well with them. |

I'm a fan of Prismacolor markers. Alcohol based like Copic just not quite as expensive. | |

The Copic blender pen isn't actually a "blender pen" - it's confusing that they call it that. It has lots of cool uses (check out YouTube!) but blending colours in a traditional way isn't one of them. 
Took me a lot of frustration before I found that out!  |
