I bought some salmon at the store yesterday...it is frozen.
Please share how you prepare this fish.
Thanks

That sounds yummy! Thanks.
Could I "grill" this in the oven either by baking or with the broiler? It's a bit cold here for the grill right now

Wrap it in tin foil with some soy sauce sprinkled over it. Serve with wholegrain rice and steamed green veg - one of my fave healthy meals

This is one of my favorite dishes ever. So good with rice and steamed green beans.

Wish I had some salmon and maple syrup so I could make this today!

Never too cold to grill!! (But we live in Canada where we do it 12 months a year)

You can do this in the oven though ...

Wrap in non-stick foil, first adding some fresh chopped dill and some sliced lemon on top ... cook until flaky ... sooooo good

If you bought it at Whole foods, there has been a recall on their salmon.....

I put it (skin side down in a saute pan (coated with pam) with some butter, salt and pepper.

or in the oven in a dish coated with butter with some milk over the fish. salt and pepper to taste.

ost of the restaurants here put it a saute pan with teriyaki sauce.

1. Mix Kikkoman Restaurant-Style Thai Chili Sauce with orange juice and baste over the salmon. Grill until crispy. Just like Kona Grill!!

2. Bread salmon with Panko and fry in a couple tablespoons olive oil until brown. Finish cooking in 450 degree oven. Yummy!! (Sorry - don't see my recipe online when I did a quick search - I don't use the one with dijon mustard)

3. Saute a couple tablespoons chopped onion and a teaspoon garlic in olive oil. Add frozen spinach until wilted. Add 6 oz cream cheese and mix. Roll out puff-pastry and cut in half. Place salmon on puff pastry, add a heaping spoon of spinach mixture, and wrap up into a bundle. Brush pastry with egg white. Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes. Makes 4. http://www.cookstr.com/recipes/salmon-in-puff-pastry

... and if you have a dog crisp the skin up and they will enjoy it as a treat - if I bake it in foil I turn it skin side up and open the foil for the last few minutes to achieve this.

General rule of thumb for fish is 10 minutes baking per inch of the fish thickness. You will know the salmon is cooked through since it goes a pale soft peachy colour and isn't translucent anymore.

Other things to try? roughly cube it and add to white fish chunks to make a fish pie OR wrap it up and post it over here ...

I learned this from Pioneer Woman. Seasone with S&P and maybe some dill. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Warm up oven-safe pan (I use my stainless steel pain) on Med to High heat with a bit of oil (high temp oils) and place fish skin side up in the pan once heated. Cook for 2 minutes only, then take the whole pan and place in oven for another 8 minutes. Always cooks my fish perfect and gives it a nice crust to the top.

I put the salmon skin side down on a piece of aluminum foil. I squeeze a lemon over the top, then put on a ton of crushed garlic, then layer large onion slices on the top of that. I cook it at 400 for about 35-40 minutes, but I notice none of the online recipes cook for that long. I've always preferred my fish more well done than what the recipes call for.

I make a compound butter with softened butter and herbs (usually dill but will also substitute tarragon).

I dab the fish (flesh side) with it, thinly slice lemons and place on top.

I bake the fish until it's flaky and then broil for a minute or so to get a little crust.

Yum. Double yum when it comes from the water to my kitchen courtesy of my husband!

I have made these also Salmon patties and I've used fresh salmon..

I think if you like whatever you make with your frozen salmon.. you will LOVE fresh fish also.. even canned..(as this recipe uses).

it's so healthy for you too

On the grill:
Soak a cedar plank in water, place salmon on the plank. Place in the grill.
Grill till opaque. Salt and pepper to taste

In the oven:
Make a compound butter with pesto and butter.
Place salmon skin side down in a baking pan
Place about a tbsp of the butter on the salmon add a sprig of dill
Bake 10-15 minutes per inch of fish.

We eat a lot of salmon and steelhead in our house. One super easy way we like to cook it is just put in on a cookie sheet with tin foil and pour some Italian dressing on top, then bake sometimes I'll add some breadcrumbs too. Just the dressing is so good and easy too.

We buy some frozen salmon filets here, and cook them from frozen.

I heat the oven to 400F I think? Haven't done it in a while so I forget!

I do it two ways:

Brush each with melted butter and sprinkle with dill.

OR

Mix equal parts mayonnaise and dijon mustard. Spread over fish, sprinkle with dill.

Bake until fish is flakey.

SO good!

If you bought it at Whole foods, there has been a recall on their salmon.....

It was smoked salmon, not "regular" salmon.
