In answer to these questions:

-How hard is it for you to stay frozen?
VERY hard. I love to scrapbook shop! Eek! I'm a terrible example and need to do better.

-Do you have any tips for other people trying to stay frozen?
- Yes! Unsubscribe from any "deal of the day" emails, and stay far away from the threads on here enthusing about this or that new, must-have thing!

-What is your favorite thing to use up from your stash?
- Washi tape and patterned paper! I used to always use cardstock as a base, but more and more I've just been turning entirely to patterned paper. It's fun!

How hard is it for you to stay frozen?
VERY! Shopping is something I really enjoy. I really love to get new products but I am not always so good about using them. In my mind it is almost as though once I have bought the product I have used it even if I really haven't. I seem to think that the more product I buy the more I will get done. Totally not true!

Do you have any tips for other people trying to stay frozen?
Stay strong! If you can, stay out of the stores and off any threads that have the word "enabling" in the title. It isn't easy but cutting down on shopping has given me way more time to scrap. That is a side-effect I really love!

What is your favorite thing to use up from your stash?
Absolutely anything! I love the feeling I get from digging through my stash and finding something I have forgotten. Using it up gives me a little thrill...whether it is paper, washi tape, a stamp, anything. I love using my stash. It gives me a little feeling of accomplishment.

It is hard for me to stay frozen on Friday evenings because I used to head to A's after work and shop until my debit card begged me to let it rest lol. Other than that, as long as I stay out of stores, it isn't too bad. I'm not a big online shopper; there has to be something specific I want. So I just avoid looking! Lol.

My only tip is to shop your stash! Rotate your things so you're always seeing something different that you already have. For me, doing that kind of makes me excited just like buying new supplies to use.

I love using embellishments of any kind! Especially washi since I have a TON! Also, using 6x6 papers is wonderful (also because I have so many).

Newly frozen here. I want to save up for bigger life expenses later this year

-How hard is it for you to stay frozen?
Really hard, especially when I open up Two Peas homepage and they advertise all these sales. And all the coupons for J's and M's just makes it so much easier to buy a pack of paper or more stamps...

-Do you have any tips for other people trying to stay frozen?
I always ask my boyfie for permission to buy scrap stuff. I told him to tell me no. But also, I just make sure my stash is displayed so I'm reminded to use it!

-What is your favorite thing to use up from your stash?
Patterned paper. I have a bunch of paper that I bought when I first got into scrapping. They're like 8 years old and I'm not really into the patterns anymore so I just cut them up into different sizes to use for Project Life

I cannot tell a lie ...I will be frozen after scrapexpo this week. I have been buying too much & not scrapping enough.

Tips: this is really a fun one. When watching tv one night, go through a section of your stash thoroughly. Last night I went through all my alphas - wowow- do I have some great ones that I can't wait to use! Tonight I am going through a warehouse box that I have stashed. Makes it seem new again to me- since I forgot all I have.

The older the item is the more I like to use it up because I feel so happy that I saved it! I don't like to throw anything away!

-How hard is it for you to stay frozen?
If I am organized and have what I need with me when I go to a crop, it is pretty easy. If I don't need anything, I won't go shopping.
If I have heard about or seen some prettys online, I am sunk.
I do keep a list of things I want/need to get. Right now, I am wanting spellbinders ovals. I think I need them for my Christmas card for 2013.

-Do you have any tips for other people trying to stay frozen?
Make a list. Don't get something for that "someday page". If I can stop doing that, I do well.

-What is your favorite thing to use up from your stash?
The older the better! I used a Mrs Grossman border sticker last week on a gift album. When I showed it to a friend, she thought it was some new washi tape. Go me!

-How hard is it for you to stay frozen?

I did well from October until late December. Then I fell apart.

-Do you have any tips for other people trying to stay frozen?

Today I got sucked into the Scrapbook Steals daily special. My advice is to not check these sites and stop getting their daily emails that are enabling. I should take my own advice.

-What is your favorite thing to use up from your stash? Papers (because I'm sure I own a million) or full collection packs. It felt good when I mixed two older BG lines and cut them up using Shimelle's The Perfect Collection class diagrams. I'm using them to scrap a trip from 2004 and I love how easy it is to have everything coordinated and pages predone, just needing pictures, embellies, and journaling.

Apparently, it is worse for me than I thought... In the past 30 days, I have spent $437.40 on scrapping supplies and 2 classes

In the past, it hasn't been hard for me to be on a freeze, hoping I can get back into that frame of mind again.

Skipping the obvious enabling posts and deleting email from scrappy sites is a good start.

My favorite stash item to use is paper, so many creative opportunities

I never knew what "frozen peas" was!

BOY, I should have been up here a long time ago! I live 65 miles away from a decent place to shop. But every once in a while I cave and go to the local Beverly's (like a smaller Joanne's) and buy something. Sometimes it's something I need - adhesive, or an ink pad. But usually it's just to ease a craving.

How hard it is to stay frozen? I don't know as I've never tried. Does buying adhesive count? Tools? I mean...we aren't trying to stop scrapping, right? Just buying things we don't absolutely need?? (Goodness, I sound like a lady with a problem!)

Tips for others: Re-organize frequently. Move things, tidy your work space, switch containers. The more you see what you have, the easier it is to remember it and use it.

Favorite stash item: brads, eyelets, and other fasteners.

I don't know if I can commit to being a Frozen Pea, but it would be a good thing for me to do.

How hard is it for you to stay frozen?

It is very hard for me.

-Do you have any tips for other people trying to stay frozen?

Right now it is a "just do it" approach. I got to a point earlier in the month where I said "too much spent, I won't even print out photos until Feb. 1." I have just been making art journal pages (a hobby I REFUSE to buy new stash for, as the new stash would be completely different stuff than for scrapbooking)

On Feb. 1, (Friday) I will print out a bunch of photos, and scrap as many of them as I can with my stash. But I have made a list of the ones I can scrap with my stash, and the ones I think I need new stash in order to scrap and be happy with the layouts. So, if the budget allows, I will be buying new paper at that point, a.k.a becoming unfrozen.

My DH and I are both on a very tight budget. DH is having trouble following it, so on Friday we are going to try something new, which is to withdraw the cash we are allowing ourselves to spend in certain categories, and use cash only to pay for those categories. We'll keep each category in its own envelope, and once an envelope is out of cash, the intention is that we won't spend any more in that category. I am not sure it will work, but I do know that if I am out of "Ellen's personal expenses" cash, I won't be buying scrapbook supplies the rest of the month.

-What is your favorite thing to use up from your stash? I am very happy when a whole scrap of paper gets down to the size where I won't keep it. That's pretty small, but I did increase the size requirements to about 2" x 2" awhile back, before that I was even keeping smaller. Art journaling has caused me to use up more scraps than I used to. It also has caused me to use up a lot more acrylic paint than I used to, and I'm not as happy about that, because while the paint was old, I now will have to buy some more soon.

I never had a problem sticking to my scrap budget and often went under! But ever since we moved 15 min away from A's, I have gone totally out of control! i started to add up how much I have spent on stash since Last August and I stopped when I hit $1200 and was only up to Oct . On the plus side - I have been scrapping more than ever, but I am making a vow to freeze except for photo printing and adhesive until June!
I plan to not go to the mall alone(where A's is) and tell whoever I am with that I am frozen. Also, I will keep telling myself that the less I spend now, the more I can spend at CKC in Aug.
I love using anything in my stash, but get really happy when I use something old! My new favorite though is patterned paper.

This is I believe my first post ever on Two Peas-

How hard is it for you to stay frozen?
After my last bank statement, I realized I spent over $300 in one month on supplies, I realized I needed to stop spending. Will it be hard? Of course. But it's necessary. For me, scrapping is a want, not a need. My bills NEED to get paid. My albums can wait. Therefore, I am also doing to envelope/cash system, but not budgeting for scrap supplies until June when I have a cc paid off. At that time, I plan on only spending $10/mo max and only on adhesive. I know it's not much, but that's truly the only thing I "need" to get projects done. Plenty of pictures already printed!! Also, a crafty relative that I have suggested going down to three core colors. I have plenty of pretty cardstock paper already, and patterened paper. Just going to buy basic kraft/black and white for my backgrounds and use my stash for accent pieces. This will also help me get my projects done faster!!!

-Do you have any tips for other people trying to stay frozen?
Deleting emails with coupons.
Using cash.
Shopping with your stash
Using Cash
Deleting emails
Using Cash. (you get it!!)

-What is your favorite thing to use up from your stash?
Patterned paper. And if I truly don't think I can use it, then donate/trade. Truthfully, my room will be cleaner without the clutter of things I won't or can't use.

Oh, Bberry - How I love A's too. And it's close. And they have a huge inventory. And they are so friendly. And they are open in the evenings. It is SO hard not to go there sometimes!

BUT, now my stash, though smaller than many people's, is getting to be too big for my area. I need to use more supplies than I bring in. So I'm frozen until I've used up a bunch!

bluna - Most people have some exceptions to their freeze. Adhesive, page protectors, photo printing, etc. For me, I can print at home and have a TON of page protectors and adhesive, so I'm staying frozen on those too, for now. When I run out, obviously I will have to thaw, lol. Another thing that people make exceptions for is kit club subscriptions. I do subscribe to a monthly kit club that I'm keeping for now, but I am thinking of switching to a different club or just cancelling and not subscribing to anything.

Good questions to get the group started!

-How hard is it for you to stay frozen?

Now that Big Lots doesn't have as many deals, my nearest Tuesday Morning closed, and most of my LSS have also closed....no, it's not hard for me to stay frozen! I'm not much for online shopping for scrappy supplies - I need to feel, touch, see in person!

-Do you have any tips for other people trying to stay frozen?

Like others have mentioned, I think rotating supplies is a great way to stay frozen...I'm always finding something I forgot about and seeing the 'new' supplies keeps me from shopping. Been doing a lot of rotating since I'm in the middle of a [budgeted] craft room redo. I'm hoping by putting in better storage, that will also help me keep the crafty juices flowing and the spending to a minimum!

Also, stay out of stores...nothing good can come from 'just browsing'

-What is your favorite thing to use up from your stash?

Probably ribbon...several trips over the last few years to the Offray Ribbon Outlet has left me with a.lot.of.ribbon! I try to use it on most every page I make!

Being frozen doesn't necessarily mean absolutely no spending. And for me, my allowable purchases are going to be adhesive, photo printing, and cardstock. I've got plenty of everything else to use!

Have a nice day!

Yay! So glad to join the frozen pea thread

How hard is it to stay frozen? I found it alot harder when I had more money, but at the moment I don't really have any money to spend so I just can't buy anything.

Tips? Go back through your stash! You'll find things in there you love and had forgotten about. It's like your very own scrapbooking store but you don't have to spend any money

Favourite thing to use up from my stash? At the moment it would be my paper pads. I've been making a heap of cards and some paper pads I had barely used. Now I've actually used entire paper pads and I am so proud of myself for that!

This is I believe my first post ever on Two Peas-
Welcome! Two peas has a great message board, I hope you come back and add many many more posts. It's fun

I've just read through everyones posts and there are some great ideas in there!

I was thinking that another way to stay (sort of) frozen would be to buy products that would stretch what you had further. For example the new Dear Lizzy has some amazing navy papers in it. I have alot of the older Dear Lizzy papers but if I bought a few of the navy papers and mixed them in with the older papers it would be like a brand new collection. So I would have a new collection for the cost of only 2 or three sheets of paper. I know that means spending but perhaps spending $3 on a couple of pieces of paper is better than buying an entire new collection? Or maybe if I looked hard enough I could find some Navy paper somewhere?

-How hard is it for you to stay frozen?
VERY!!! It didn't used to be, but I moved so close to an Archiver's and actually went in. Lol. Ever since that first trip to A's, my in-store and online purchases have skyrocketed. I don't even want to know how much I've spent in the last three months, but it has to stop!

-Do you have any tips for other people trying to stay frozen?
I agree with unsubscribing to any emails that contain the words "steal" or "deal." For me, I also need to stay away from the FSOT board.

-What is your favorite thing to use up from your stash?
I have so many alpha stickers that I've actually been USING lately and I love it. I feel that the different colors and fonts add that something special to my LO's

Very hard...like everyone else. It's been 21 days but it feels like months! ugh. (my goal was 30 days)
Do you have any tips for other people?
Don't work in a scrapbook store. It makes it REALLY hard. I still look on 2P every day but just add to my cart instead of checking out.
What is my favorite thing to use up?
Anything that I haven't "opened the package" yet. That's quite a few things I'm noticing.
I did a LO this weekend, & organizing so I'm feeling pretty good about my "frozen-ness". Also challenging myself to finish up 3 or 4 LO before I can shop.

Tonight I actually scrapped! (A rare feat on a weeknight.) And I opened two packages of stickers and one package of tags AND used a bunch of pages from a brand new 6x6 pad. All stuff I've had for at least a few months but hadn't used yet.

I wonder if I can scrap a little every night this week?! That'd be AMAZING for me, lol.

Sounds like a good plan. I've put things in my cart for a while when I was waiting to have enough for free shipping. The longer it was in there the less I needed it. And the things I did keep in there were things I still really wanted.

Perhaps that's a good idea for those who plan to do a little shopping. Put everything in your cart and if you still NEED it in a week only then can you purchase it.

I have been almost entirely frozen in January. With one exception (I ordered some things from the new Webster's Pages collections), I have only used some gift money for buying just a few things, so I have been shopping a lot less than I used to. I think that I will continue this way, at least until after summer. Still, I'm not completely frozen, so I don't know if I really belong to this group.

The main reason for not shopping is lack of space. I have a big stash and I honestly cannot fit in any more until I've used a good deal of what I already have.

Scrap Stash Kit Club has been a huge help! I have to pull a kit from my stash each month and use it in a current/trendy way, and that has been so much fun! I cannot believe how many exciting things I have found in my stash and it's really just like shopping but it's for free! lol! And it's wonderful to finally get to use those pretty things.

No, really! Shopping your stash in a focused way, turning your old supplies into trendy and fresh by picking the right colors and shapes, DOES compensate for shopping! That's my best tip!

My favorite thing to use from my stash is - my stash! It is incredible how much you can get out of a few scrapbooking supplies. I'm scrapping like crazy and still can't see any sizeable dent in my scrap space. Ugh!

So, I really have to cut back as much as I can on scrappy shopping this year. I'm only getting a few things that I know I will kick myself for not buying, when they're gone. It's mostly patterned paper (star maps!!!!) and a few stamps, so it won't add up to any larger amounts of money.

It is extremely hard to stay frozen. I know I can't even walk into M or AC Moore without buying something!

My only tip is to stay out of craft stores!!

I'm trying to use up all my naked chipboard pieces, I didn't realize I had so many!

I have been attempting a freeze since 12/31. I have placed a couple small orders with money in my paypal account from selling some stuff and one trip to HL, where I bought some clearance stuff and some sequins & gold trims because ribbon was 50% off. All in all, I consider this month a success because I have cut my scrap spending by around 90%. My goal is to sell off stuff that I won't use to fund new stuff. So, I have been putting stuff in my cart but have not checked out because I have been too lazy to get my purged stuff posted.

I have found that participating in the different challenges & using my stash have been much more rewarding than shopping & getting new stuff. Not only do I save time by not shopping so much but also save time by not having to put the new stuff away.

I am looking forward to participating in this thread.

Not hard at all. Since social security and my health insurance went up it's taking a big chunk out of my paycheck and budget. Basically no extras other than adhesive which is fine because I have a massive stash of stuff.

-Do you have any tips for other people trying to stay frozen?

Don't look at ads from our favorite crafting stores. That always prompts me to want to go shopping with money I don't have to spare.

-What is your favorite thing to use up from your stash

I just reorganized and "found" a ton of things that I've been using on my project life. Project life has been a HUGE stashbuster for me!

I went to Joanns and didn't buy anything!!!!! Of course, my toddler was being a nuisance. And I just got two boxes of scrappy stuff in the mail yesterday and am expecting another today, so that's less impressive.
