OK, so I've had this flu for a week and I'm still running a fever, have body aches, feel dizzy, etc. I can't work and absolutely hate missing days. If you've had this flu, how long did it take for you to get over it? And was it this bad? I mean, I can usually work through colds and other illnesses, but not this. It's crazy!
Thanks in advance for any response, and if you are suffering from the flu as well, I hope you get better soon. |

Blah.
Don't want to hear that.
I've had a sinus thing for a week, started in on the fever and body aches yesterday.

Sorry to say that it lasted about 3 weeks total!! I, too, rarely get the flu, and certainly not as awful as this one, but it hit me and drained me for weeks. I had the whole upper respiratory one (fever, aches, chills, cough, congestion......) that lasted about 2 weeks. I felt a tiny bit better and then got hit with the stomach one. For all of those weeks, we were barely eating, barely sleeping, etc. I ended up in the E.R. because it affected my asthma.
Hope you feel better. I loaded up with Vick's Vaporub (put it on your chest or the soles of your feet and cover them), Mucinex, nasal spray and tylenol. Try to drink lots of water. Use a (clean) mist humidifier. Try a hot shower/bath. Drink hot tea. |

(((hugs))) for those who are sick. We had something that was either the flu or very flu-like. For me it hung around about a week and a half before I began to feel human again. |

Thank you all so much for the responses. I'm feeling a bit better this week and plan on going back to work on Thursday, even if I'm still a little fatigued (and achy, lol). Fortunately this year I have an absolutely fantastic group of students who are doing very well with the sub. She wants me to stay out longer!
Hope everyone else who is feeling under the weather gets well soon. |

Dh had it and felt crummy for almost a week. His fever only lasted a few days though. He's still not 100%, but he's back at work and playing soccer (although he moved to goalie so he didn't have to run as much.) |

I have had it twice and was down for about three weeks, including several days in the hospital.
But a close friend went to the doctor, was diagnosed, given Tamiflu and was better within a week! |

just curious, did you have a flu shot before you got it?
I was exposed to the flu at least 2x, and only got a head cold.
If it were me, I would ask the dr if you are still contagious. | |

According to the CDC website regarding the flu-it says that you are contagious 1 day before showing symptoms and up to 5-7 days after becoming sick.
Given that if it were me I would stay home until I wasn't contagious any more, especially since it sounds like you are a teacher and you have a substitute who is taking care of your class.
We have to remember it's not just when we feel better, it's when we aren't contagious any longer that is important-if you can stay home that long without losing your job.
