Oooooh, that show makes us so hungry!
We always say "gee, must be ROUGH to have Guy Fiere's job on that show!?!?!?"

I LOVE watching how the people create their unique
and scrumptious menu items, and it's great that you can get the recipes on foodnetwork.

We like to give "Mom and Pop" restaurants a try, but we've never found any that serve the kind of YUMMY things those places do! Guess we just have to keep looking! How about you?

Yes we do. I used to be highly annoyed by Guy but he has kind of grown on me.
I agree, watching that show makes me so hungry! I would love to try one of his featured diners.

We love Triple D!
Sometimes I really dislike Guy, and sometimes he is quite enjoyable. I find him quite transparent, you can really tell when he's happy/enjoying himself/likes the chef/thinks the food is good compared to when those things are not true.

I've eaten at one of the diners featured on his show. Just a nice breakfast place. Nothing outstanding, but I'd go back again.

I watch it occasionally and enjoy the show a lot. I agree, it does make you hungry!

We recently went to one of the Seattle restaurants he profiled. It was fabulous! I highly recommend them to any Seattle Peeps.

We do.

I've eaten at a few of the dives. One was a clam place sort of by Gloucester in MA. I thought the clams were tough and chewy and my crab cake was half burnt. Not worth the two hour wait.

My favorite place is Gordy's in Cloquet, MN. The fish sandwiches are incredible, as are the milk shakes. I love the burgers and DH loves the Highlander Grog coffee. We vacation on the Canadian border every summer and have been stopping at Gordy's for about 10-12 years now.

I haven't watched it in awhile, but I do love that show and all the fun meals. I watched he and Kid Rock film the restaurant next door to where I work. (The restaurant was always busy, but after that showed aired, it became insane. I had to purchase 'no parking stickers' to put on cars that parked in our private lot next door!).

We LOVE Triple D!

When we drove to Florida in August, we found a few along our route. We only stopped at one - a great drive-in outside of Charlotte, NC - South 21. The onion rings were incredible! It was totally worth the stop!

When DH and I go to California next year for our 20th anniversary, we hope to hit up a bunch more.

We did one of them...The Hills in spokane....Horrid. They served us raw elk meat still bleeding, and frozen in the middle. We sat there for nearly 2 hours to get raw frozen meat.

My husband is from Butte and I went to school there
and we can't believe that they went to the Freeway instead of Pork Chops Johns, and if you want their "secret recipe" I will give it to you.

I really enjoy the show. We are fans of Gordy's in Cloquet, MN too. If I lived in that town I'd gain at least ten pounds every summer. I had a blackberry shake the last time I was there and it was so good. It's always busy.

It's a good show... but I can guarantee that a show like that is not easy to produce so his job is not exactly as glamorous as you might think it is. We did similar segments once and it's a long, arduous shoot. I'd love to see their production bible. We have some questions about their logistics.

I love Triple D and Guy. He lives in my town and his restaurants are here so he has featured several local places. We have not eaten at all of them but everyone we've tried is delicious. I have met him on a couple of occasions and I really like him. There is a Triple D book out that has all the restaurants and recipes in it. Book here

Someone told me that there is a Triple D app for your phone that will let you know what local restaurants were featured on the show - I haven't looked so I don't know for sure.

My next door neighbor's dad and brother own a restaurant in Tampa. They got a call from Triple D to look into featuring them. They never called back, because they said they were too busy!

Their restaurant is a sandwich shop, the dad opened it 48 years ago. They do have wonderful food, at a really good price. Sometimes at lunch or on the weekends, it is REALLY crowded, there is standing room only for those waiting to pick up to go orders. If you get a chance to go to Brocatto's in Tampa, go!

There's two books!! I gave them to my BFF for Christmas. She was over the moon when she opened them.

We're headed to SF in May and we plan on hitting a couple of spots mentioned in the books.

We have the Eveready Diner here by us that was featured a couple of years ago. They have since built a second one closer to us, and just as popular as the original!!

I like watching it but after a while it all starts to seem like the same episode.

We have 4-5 restaurants in our area (Charleston, SC) that have been featured on the show and they are all amazing. One is a small hot dog place started by a local high school sports hero.. it's awesome and everyone is so happy for his success.

We enjoy it. We've been to nine places in Mn. I think five we went to before they were featured.

UpNorth, those blueberry shakes are a show stopper. We like their burgers but I think the Nook's are much better, but I also love their cornmeal onion rings at Gordy's.

I've been to four of the places he visited and quite frankly, have been seriously disappointed. My sister drove an hour to a Texas restaurant he raved about and she too was underwhelmed. The restaurants really play it up with posters and full size cutouts that they've been featured on his show.

We travel a bit and always check out a DDD place.
One of the most fun episodes was at "Q" in SF, and we have been there several times.
There is a great breakfast place in Seattle that we went to - near UW- under a freeway/ near the water-? I know it's run by a Greek family.
We checked out 4 places in AbQQ!!

I don't watch it anymore, I just can't stand Guy. The places he has visited in San Diego are all mostly good, but there was one diner he went to that really stinks and I can't imagine how they ended up on the show. Truly some of the worst food I've ever had.

I went to some place in Hawaii Haute Dog something that was a branch of the original restaurant that was on the show. It was ok but the original restaurant is probably better.

DH went to one or two of the San Jose restaurants from the show when he travelled for work a few years ago. Again he said they were ok.

Guy doesn't seem to come to Portland (OR) much so I haven't been to any here.

I've been to 2 of the places he has featured, but it was before he ever got there. One in Norfolk, Va is Doumar's Drive-In where they still have car hops come out to your car. They NEVER write down the order and it's always been right for me. They have the best hot dogs and hamburgers, but he best is the waffle ice cream cones - YUM.

The other place is in Virginia Beach and it's Deli 58 with the largest sandwiches you can imagine. One sandwich is big encough to feed 2 or 3 people and meat is so tender. I love the hot pastrami and my daughter loves the ruben. The best NY cheesecake for dessert.

We've been to two of the restaurants he went to in Dallas, Twisted Root burger Co and Cane Rosso, which ended up being right across the street from each other. We love both places!! All of the times that we went there was not much of a wait either. And neither seemed to really advertise that they had been on the show, so that was nice. We've eaten at Twisted Root probably 5 times since then, so it's prob a good thing we live 4 hours away!

We seek out places from the show and have been to several. Most I would love to go back to and a couple have been good but not worth the drive and wait we put into it. None of the places we visited have gone crazy with life size cut outs of Guy or anything. As far as I can remember they have all had the spray painted design on the wall of his silhouette, etc.

I like to dream that someday I'll be able to road trip to some of those places. I love the promotion of little hometown spots.

My DD flew down to New Orleans to then drive back home,NY,nwith my DS. They wanted to make it a fun road trip so my DD found an app that you put in your area and it will tell you the closest places featured on the show. They started in New Orleans and drove all the way up to Canada and then down through New England to Long Island. They had such a 'foodie' adventure. They loved it. Along the way they also stopped in places that they found... dives... and they still talk about some great food!!!
The show featured a dive 10 minutes from my house The Pit Stop. The owner/chef made a Spaghetti Squash Primavera that is awesome! I've eaten it many times with my friends. Here's a link to a blog that has the recipe: SPAGHETTI SQUASH PRIMAVERA

He actually featured a little place in my small town outside Denver, but we never cared for it.. food was on the really dry side. My kid goes there everyday for a drink though, it's down the street from his high school.. It's usually not that busy.

But we love to watch but never tried any of the other places...

we love that show, along with Man vs. Food on the Travel channel. I like Guy's personality (although it would tire me out if I met him in person, I think) and I love that he finds the really interesting Mom & Pop type places.

We've actually gone to a number of places featured on food shows; it's kinda fun to look for them and try them out. We haven't been disappointed yet.

you can find a list of restaurants (by state) that have been featured on those types of shows here:

We've been to a few places around Austin from the show.

Funny, that's how dd (11 at the time) went to her first 6th street bar! lol! She was watching one Sunday morning and saw a place and wanted to go (dh and I weren't watching with her) so we looked up the name and went. Turned out it was a hel!-themed bar! Luckily they had an upstairs away from the bar and it was a Sunday morning so everybody was just eating anyway. Food was ok, but we loved the experience for how funny it was. She even got her first lesson at the pool table! Taught us to look up reviews before hitting the road! Lol!

We're headed to SF in May and we plan on hitting a couple of spots mentioned in the books.

We're headed down that way in May also, for a wedding in Napa. What spots do you have earmarked? We'll spend a few days in SF before heading to wine country.

We ate at one of the burger places featured (The Squeeze Inn) and it was yummy- it's one of my favorite burgers around here. We've also eaten at Guy's restaurant, Johnny Garlic's, a few times and we enjoy it although it seems to get mixed reviews.

I prefer the show Best Thing I Ever Ate, which I'm not sure they are still making new episodes of. We have been to lots of restaurants featured on that show and seeking them out has taken us to some fun and interesting places. It has more variety than Triple D since it has input from lots of different chefs and different types of food.
