I agree with everything you say. If my kid continues to make bad choices they have to suffer the consequences of those choices. However, if I could make a suggestion...
4. When I send an e-mail about a VERY bad choice your child made at school, please acknowledge it with a reply. Ignoring me does not make it go away.
If the behavior is THAT bad, a phone call would be in order. The email would be sent as follow-up verifying the conversation or the lack of response from the voice mail. | |

Your child made a REALLY bad choice at school today.
Can I please change this to "Parents YOU made a really bad choice, and it makes me sick to watch you child now have to deal with it."
Sorry, I am dealing with a lot of parents making bad choices lately and it is really starting to get to me this year.

With 8 and 4 year olds, and 3 year old twins, I will be doing kindergarten a year apart. I don't know how you do it, but give you all the praise in the world. | |

Go ahead - vent away. Maybe next time, along with the PopTart being returned in the backpack for student #5, #2 can take home the beans, butter and milk combo! 
I know you'll be back tomorrow and somehow the very same kids will make good choices and make you smile. It is all really worth it, isn't it?

I am a homeschool mom. Have been for 15+ years. I always try to make a point (if it's ever brought up) that one of the main perhaps *the* main reason we homeschool is because of parents and their little snowflakes. NOT the teachers. We belonged to a rather large church when my two oldest were young, and the crap the poor SUNDAYSCHOOL teachers had to take from some of these "my kid does no wrong" folks was unbelieveable.
I commend you. I truly do. I also believe teachers should be some of the highest paid people in the country instead of some of the lowest. I hope I can always homeschool my children. However, if my situation changes I hope my children are blessed with teachers that care enough to teach kids personal responsibility instead of bowing down to unreasonable parents. Kudos to you... |

That is one of the reasons we started homeschooling. Sadly, the local coop is loaded with these same parents and snowflakes. (What ever happened to homeschooling for religious or educational reasons?) The groups are like helicopters and snowflakes on steroids.  We are still looking for a "normal" group for the kids. |

VENT AWAY! Both my parents, and most of my relatives including my brother, are/were teachers. *I* didn't get the patience gene and am NOT one! DD is 5 and in her 2nd year at the preschool program of the local school district. We've already made it a practice to let the teachers know the first time we meet them that we WANT to know about any issues that arise, and we'd love any suggestions they have to offer. Likewise, DD knows that we respect her teachers and we won't tolerate her doing otherwise.

It sounds like there is a particular boy in your class that is causing problems (you mentioned "he" in your description)!
I completely agree with everything you said!! I am a parent who teachers my kids to respect the teacher the classmates and behave! My girls know that if they teacher calls, we will support that teacher. It's so unfair when just one or two girls and boys are troublemakers and the whole class has to deal with it.
My kids are so grossed out when girls and boys at lunch do gross things like that. Sitting by themselves is a great consequence for the behavior.
My husband and I think teachers should get big bonuses! Paid for by parents of consistent troublemakers. Their child misbehaves, mom and dad put a dollar into a jar for the teacher. Haha!!

Momy2six, that's the best reason I have heard to homeschool! I love it! I homeschooled for each child's kindergarten year, then sent them to school. My husband didn't agree to let me homeschool for 3 yrs. like I planned. We love the school and the teachers! But my kids biggest complaint is the other kids and parents! Bad kids slow down the whole class. My 8th grader,s civics teacher said that if all kids came to school happy and ready to learn, kids would probably only need to be in school a half day some days and never have homework.
