My daughter was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation on Monday. I have wondered how to document all of this as it's going to be a long road. I also want her and the family to see the notes of encouragement that we receive. So, this morning, I pulled out a Simple Stories album and got started! I think it will be the perfect solution. You can see my complete details here:
Documenting the Difficult
I pray it helps some of you to document those difficult journeys too!!! |

I have documented difficult and trying times and pray that you find it to be as helpful and cathartic as I did. |

Thanks girls! I think the best part is printing the prayers and encouragement people have sent. I have read them several times already, and I can't imagine how much more they will continue to encourage us on this road. |

(((((Patter)))))
I'm praying right now that your entire family will truly KNOW that the Great Physician has all of this under His control and will be guiding the neurology teams as the care for your daughter and family.
Our family has also had a couple of times were it felt like our world had flipped upside-down due to serious medical issues. I'll continue to pray that each one of you feel His Loving, UNFAILING arms carrying you right now! | |

Patter, I think it is wonderful to make a memory book of this for her. Even though it may be a long, tough road, she will feel comfort knowing that people love her and are praying for her. Being able to look at it and read may be just what she needs some days.
I will pray for her and your family. Reading this is so amazing to me, a good friend at work has a niece who has Chiari and it is so uncommon. In fact, they just had a benefit for her to help her with medical bills and I was so pleased to be able to help her. I pray that her surgery will be soon and she'll heal fast enough to be able to go to college with her sister this fall. I'll also pray for peace for you all. |

Patter, this is 1 of the reasons you're so dear to us here in the pod--even as you face a challenge, you're finding ways to use it to the good for everyone.
Blessings & hugs to you & yours. |

Agh, thank you all SO much. I really wanted to help someone else that may be walking a difficult road. I think I remember someone posting and asking if they scrap the hard stuff. Well, just today the prayers and comments I have printed have helped us. They don't have to be scrapped or fancy. I think I have read each journal card I have printed 3-4x already. You would think I would have them memorized but I don't. LOL! My brain is too "foggy" for that. So, I thank you all for praying for us but I also pray someone else can use this to help anyone (family or friend) that may just need this very thing. Blessings to each of you! |

Patter, I have followed your blog for awhile- it is so inspiring in so many ways. Although I don't have triplets, I have 3 dd's within a 4 year span, so they are pretty close, and they are near in age to your girls. I have also enjoyed your posts about art journaling since I took it up at about the same time and took some of the same on-line classes.
In 2009, as I was doing P365, my then 15 yr old dd had a severe traumatic brain injury from a skiing accident. She was in a coma for close to a week, so I spent a lot of time in the Neuro ICU. She was in the hospital nearly a month. At the time I could not do anything but pray. It was so sudden and so uncertain that I could not let myself think or reflect at all. For me it was too difficult- I just prayed. Those days are just big blanks in my P365/PL album. But I saved all the letters and cards, and at about 3 weeks after, as she was recovering, I was able to start taking some pictures- of her and those who were important in her recovery, and of her hospital room with all the cards, and photos of all the flowers and other gifts. At later visits I took photos of her doctors and therapists and the hospital. Someone even gave me a diecut of a helicopter (she was lifeflighted off the mountain).
I am sure you and your family will get through this- prayer was an incredible comfort.
My dd's accident happened in mid-April, and although it was a lot of hard work over most of the summer, she was able to get back to school in the fall at her grade level. She is a freshman in college now. It is amazing what can be accomplished with support, effort, love, encouragement and prayer. |
