Great tutorial! I am super familiar with Photoshop so the making of the circles and the graphics has been very easy for me. What I don't get is how to get the flair "look". You know, that shiny coating and slightly embossed look. How do you accomplish that? | |

Great tutorial! I am super familiar with Photoshop so the making of the circles and the graphics has been very easy for me. What I don't get is how to get the flair "look". You know, that shiny coating and slightly embossed look. How do you accomplish that?
I did a digital one by making another layer with a circle of the same size on top of the flare. Then go to styles and choose buttons, clear embossed. That should give a shiny look on the top layer. I am using Photoshop CS6. The same style is probably in PSE too. . I am still working on getting a better look, but this is what I have so far. I have a base layer, then a middle layer that I change out for each different flair and then the top layer. When it is done, I save it as a copy in .png. I have no idea how to make one that is not digital.

Thanks you Kat. I have just been playing and guessing how to do it. I have done searches for the info, with no luck. Off to watch your video and learn how to do it the right way.
Great video. Do you mind posting the manufacturer of the clear plastic pieces that you used for the top of the flairs. I do digital scrapbooking, hybrid and traditional. I am still working in CS5 but I imagine those steps are probably the same. I don't do digital scrapping but I could print them out and go over it with glossy accents for a similar effect at least. Thanks for the step by step! | |

I use epiphany crafts 1" circle bubble caps usually but recently I found them at Michael's under the recollections brand name and you get 24 for $1.97! So check out michaels! |

I just returned from a semi-unsuccessful trip to Michaels. They do not have the Recollection Brand of them at at my Michaels, however they did have the Epiphany Crafts brand. They certainly are expensive. It was $5.99 for a small package. Maybe when they sell out of the Epiphany Crafts ones that they have in stock, they will switch over and carry the Recollection Brand. $1.97 for 24 is a super good price. Can you tell me where there were in the store. I looked several times before asking someone that worked there. She said that they do not have them.  |

Just in case this helps, here is a picture of the Michael's brand along with a picture of the bar code/product number if you want to call before going and looking at your Michael's.

In addition to printing pictures I also use some of my stamps and create flairs. I also use my epiphany crafts punch tool for it you can slide the paper in and stick the epoxy sticker on and press down and it punches it out as well. There is a picture of the tool on my blog.
I love the new banner one they came out with it's super cute.

I have the banner epiphany tool as well and love it. I just ordered the hexagon one that they released at CHA, that should be fun. I think I have them all now LOL |
