A few days ago, we were reminiscing about the first memories of time spent in a SB store... remember those 'sticker walls' that scrapbooking stores used to have?? I've been doing a ton of cleaning and purging in my scrapbooking space, and I found a whole BUNCH of 'old-school' stickers in my stash! Mrs. Grossman's, Frances Meyer, Susan Branch, etc. They were even stored in pages from my (now-defunct) Paper Sticker Binder!! Some of these stickers have to be close to 15 years old!!
Needless to say, if I haven't used them in the past 15 years, I'm probably not going to ever use them... so, they're headed off to the LSS garage sale.
I thought you guys might want a hit of nostalgia!!

I ran across those same Mrs. G vellum stickers in my stash. Those are the only ones I saved because I thought they'd look cool cut into triangles (squares cut diagonally).

I still have a bunch of ancient stickers, including a couple I see in that photo, LOL!
I don't remember the first time I set foot in a scrapbook store, but I do clearly remember 16 years ago the time someone told me that Mrs. Grossman's stickers were acid-free, specifically for scrapbooks. My eyes lit up!

The Susan Branch stickers with the garden trowel (or similar stickers I don't remember all of those being on the sheet), I did a scrapbook page of my dd and her love of gardening (at age 2) in 2006 or 2007.
I kind of miss the "wall of stickers" my daughters would love that. The aisle of stickers at M's is not the same (and overpriced).

yeah, the 'aisle of stickers' did have a really fun feel to it- sort of like walking into a candy store!! I thought about saving some of them, but then again, I feel sort of like the people they profile in the Hoarders tv show-- do I really want to not let my stuff go, knowing that I probably won't use it?? (or kind of sort of like Gollum in LOTR... stroking my 10-year old stickers, saying 'my precioussss...' I'll save that obsessiveness for my newest OA stuff!! )

My first four completed albums are Susan Branch. The first is her baby album and the next three are the garden theme. I still hide my Susan Branch stash from my DGD. She has access to my Creative Memories binder stuffed full of Mrs.Grossman's stickers. Those are still soooo pretty but if I'm not using them...time to let go.

Ooh! I have some of those old school things; even a CM Sticker binder, filled with sticker page protectors and barely-able-to-zip full of stickers. Sadly (or gladly) it's is storage for the foreseeable future. Luckily, with time I have now, I can still go back and create some older pages sans sticker sneeze.

I have a bunch of those!
Don't be too quick to get rid of those design lines! I was at a crop and needed ... really ... **needed** some metallic gold design line stickers! I had to wait until I got back home to my stash to dig them out. They were the absolutely perfect thing ....
We use washi -- which really isn't anything more than a line of color and/or pattern in a sticker form -- which rather sounds like a definition of design line stickers to me!

I just went through my scrap-booking room and came across some paper and frame from those QVC kits that came with a photo album. I didn't have the heart to throw them away. So I made a pile of paper, stickers, frames from those kits and donated to my daughters preschool. Throughout the year they take their photos and some art projects that she made and make a scrapbook out of it.

Well, this makes me smile because I just used some very old stickers on a layout just today. If I think they look nice I still use them. The ones I used to day were fall leaves. Some of the older ones with sayings that I don't think I'll use on pages I have used on the back of envelopes of cards or letters I've sent out.

I know, right?!? I think I kept thinking, "I'll use them someday..." but I never did. Then, I probably felt guilty about having them but not using them, so I felt obligated to still keep them... but still, I didn't want to use them because I didn't like them anymore. It's crazy, the things we feel guilty about, isn't it?!?
Hopefully someone at the LSS garage sale will love them!!

Nobody uses Deluxe die- cuts and Jolee's anymore? I have a ton of those. I haven't scrapbooked in 5 years and just now stepped back into this world. Like some of you it was hard for me to let go and I only donated a teeny tiny fraction of what is in my room. Even if they aren't in right now I will find something to use them for.

LOL. But the really funny thing is while my LSS would not have those particular stickers, it does still have Mrs. Grossman stickers and a huge number of other flat stickers, all still on that double wall of stickers in the middle of the building, just as it did when I first visited in 2002.

I still use those ALL the time. I put them on card stock and then cut them out. If they have a white border I sometimes use a Galaxy (writes on anything) marker in gold or silver to color that part.
Guess what? They will look very much like the "new" ones we buy today with just a little help.
So if your are throwing them out toss them my way

I have some of those very same stickers. I did purge a ton of them, but there were some that I saw potential in.
For instance, when you use stickles on those old stickers, it completely makes them look new and updated. I had an old Mrs. Grossman's holly sticker and I used green and red stickles. It is amazing the difference it made!
If you still like the look of some of them, it may be worth a try to update with markers or stickles.
