Working on a new cake for my wedding show booth.
The cake itself will be silver, and I want a pop of colour for ribbon around the base of each tier, and some florals.
I was thinking teal, but I didn't like how it looked.
Colour pairing has never been my strong suit!

My first thought was navy blue. Not sure how that would work for cake though.

Yellow?
Do you mean shiny silver?

I think dark pink looks great with silver. Also, brown looks surprisingly good with silver. I'm curious, what are you using to make it silver?

Fuschia came to my mind first.

What if you mute the teal. Make it a blue/green like a Tiffany blue shade but a more pale version. That would look really pretty with silver.

I agree with this. A darker lavendar would look great also. Most pastels look great with silver.

My first thought was a deep pink.
Purple or lavender would go well.
Those are all frequently used wedding colors too.

My first thought was peach. My sister's wedding was a light peach and silver and it was beautiful. Light pink or lavender looks great too, as others have said!

I have always though silver was neutral, with the exception that it looks better with white tones than it does with yellow tones (which leans more towards gold, imo).
In fact, I can't really think of a color that doesn't look good with silver...even yellow for that matter.

I agree with the idea of a not quite teal. Something in the turquoise family but not too dark, not too light.
I love the idea of fuschia too.

Not shiny like a silver plate or spoon - more of a silver sheen. It will be grey undertones with a pearlized sheen to the whole cake.
I like the purple idea...and the hot pink might be nice as well!

I like the combo of silver/gray, yellow, and a muted purple...sort of a grayish lavender. You could add a small amount of black for some drama, too.

a mauve-y burgundy or wine color was my first thought; if it's flowers, then I'd use an olive green for the leaves.

I lean towards this opinion ^.. Silver is a "cool" rather than "warm" to me.. I wear mostly silver jewelry and I wear a lot of blues,, any shade of blue to me looks great with silver.. as does black..
If I wear brown, I always wear gold...
Maybe pop some white in there with the turquoise. Turquoise, white, black and silver... LOVE those together..

right now if it had grey undertones, I'd use yellow or Tiffany blue like another poster suggested. If it's a show for fall cakes then I'd chose cobalt blue, navy or aubergine. What ever you chose post it for us, I love seeing your cakes.

The silvery color you describe sounds much like pewter to me. Marigold and pewter are popular and beautiful complimentary colors for weddings.

I think silver is neutral and every color goes with silver, but I agree with others who have said hot pink and turquoise really pop with silver.

If I were you I'd be looking in bridal magazines to see what the hot wedding colors are right now, and choose one of those. You want the brides to be able to envision your cake at their wedding.
