And he became the rock star nominee mid2008...that is when this country lost its ever lovin mind, going ga-ga over a community organizer turned junior senator with zero experience and a plethora of unanswered questions swirling around him. Logic was abandoned in favor of a toothy grin and a smooth speech delivery.

Our rates have increased since our district pays a good portion of the singles' hsa premiums and since they started paying for people to leave our plan and take a spouse's plan.

Many healthy people found other options and that just left more "sick" people on the plan and fewer people paying into it.

When the single people had good coverage, their claims increased.

Both of those resulted a very expensive hybrid hsa/traditional plan very similar to the plans they were against when we first switched to an hsa.

I've never complained about insurance until this year. I can't afford a few meds that I was prescribed. I can't imagine having to pay more for my self-employed spouse and child.

This affordable healthcare just shifted the affordable care to another class.

OMG! A woman may be paying for her self-employed husband! The sky is falling!

Working spouses have been allowed to have family plans that included their spouse and children for DECADES. It's all been part of the system of benefits that began when government interfered with a person's top pay after WWII.

FWIW, my employer has dropped the spouse availability on health insurance too, even if the spouse isn't employed.

There were other ideas for how to handle the gap between getting medical care and being able to pay for it.

Several things were the cause, none of which were addressed by 5000 pages of fine type!

We are facing a real mess because neither DD nor DGD can be on our TriCare (DH & I are both military retirees. DD aged out)

We pay for DD's BCBS every month. DGD is supposed to be on her Father's coverage, but is still on medicaid because STBX does not have insurance through work yet. Has been there 4 months, kicks in after a year (or it used to).

It is going to cost nearly $500 to insure both DD & DGD, with a $3000 out of pocket before benefits kick in.

Two years ago, it would have been $200, and $1000.

So millions of children will take the brunt of this and go completely uninsured. I am beyond livid.

Please - Obama supporters - explain why this is ok? Because the more research I do the angrier I'm getting. Please tell me I'm misunderstanding this - please.

I wish you were. This is going pretty much exactly how I thought it would when the stupid thing was passed in the first place.

PP, I just looked at slopes and couldn't find any mention of this. Maybe because I haven't had bough coffee, but could you link me?

This isn't the only site that I have seen this bit of information. It was actually published on several military websites.

Here is one from a military benefits website

I would love for someone to tell me this is BS.
