Well I have managed to get this thread started on time

Its hard to believe that the first month of 2013 has already flown by. So far I have mananged a layout per week. How about you guys? I am scanning all my layouts and saving them in a 2013 folder so I can more easily keep track of my count this year.

Its been a really tough week for me as both my boys have had the tummy bug that seems to be doing the rounds. The little one is still unwell which makes for very little sleep for Mom!

On the scrappy side I have replaced my trimmer and craft knife and managed to do a layout this morning. Also got some of the Mr Price washi yesterday. They only seem to have the red and black combo packs. My online order should arrive next week. I am so excited.

What do you all have planned this weekend? We have a school braai this evening (weather permitting - looks like it will rain!), birthday parties tomorrow and golf on Sunday morning so I don't think I will get any scrapping done.

Keep well and keep posting. Our thread disappears so quickly!

Hello, all- thanks for remembering (& bumping) "our" thread, prilquod!

It was I who asked, at the end of the January thread, whether any of you were up for any of the events/ Conventions this year. For those who did not read the January thread before this one replaced it, prilquod said she is not a Convention- goer, but Hobby-X is a "maybe". For the Joburg ladies- I will probably be going to H-X on Thursday 7th March, which is officially the traders' day (long story why I "qualify" ) or if I miss that then Fri or Sat. I usually get together with my buddy who is the organiser of the Conventions if our visits co-incide. If you are going this year, we should exchange mobile numbers and try to have a coffee at the Dome; If you have ever wondered whether Conventions are for you, I am happy to give you input, as in "indoctrinate and enable" you!

Hi Tanya

Unfortunately I think I will have to miss Hobby-X this year. My son is having his second cochlear implant on the 8th so I will be at the hospital Friday and Sat and then feel a bit bad to leave him the next day.

Please let me know about the conventions. I am ready to be enabled ...

Hi where is everyone!!

I have had such a hectic last week. On wednesday we had a bit of a lightning strike at our house and it knocked out our phone line and adsl line so have been Internet less for a few days. Also hit our satellite and our house alarm.

On the positive side my gorgeous washitape arrived. I am so pleased with all the designs and have already used some aon a layout I am busy with. Will post it when I am done.

Hope to hear from you guys soon!

Hello!

Gosh prilqod you're having a rough time of things; tummy bugs, lighting strikes... sounds hectic!

I'm keen to find out what you think of your washi order... course I can't actually remember which website you said you used but I'm sure you can tell us that again when you do your review. Can you believe I actually used up a roll of washi yesterday on a V-Day project for my Grade 8'er... she had to make a box to hold their roses (or something like that)..looked quite pretty once we were done with it.

And on other scrappy fronts - I've finally finished the USA trip (7 albums in total) I keep meaning to take pics of the layouts that I'm most proud of in there, shall try and do that soon.

I'm still current with Project Life, really love doing that, try to set time aside each Sunday to keep on top it.

Oh and as for conventions - I used to be a regular at the Scrapbook Convention here in CT (the one that's in Jhb as well) but over the years I'm finding I no longer need them quite as much, been at this for a long time now. To be honest I also started to find that the value for money wasn't quite the same, so now I spend more money on products

As for local news - isn't it shocking about Oscar Pistorius?!! I'm sure there is more to this story than one first thinks.

Thanks for the thread.... talk soon

Tanya

Hi Tanya

My washitape tape is just gorgeous. I have already used it! The website was washitape.co.za. Really easy thank heavens. Cost is more expensive than Mr Price but cheaper than shipping internationally. Range is very good.
Washitape just seems so versatile. My 6year old loves the stuff. I need to hide it from him!

Trying to get everything back under control at home. Not sure how I would manage if I actually had a job! The Oscar news is so unbelievable. What a shame all round.

Well done on finishing your USA album! What a great achievement. Would love it if you post a few sample pages please.

Hope everyone else finds our thread soon. Keep well

Happy Saturday!

Well I finally got around to taking some pictures of my USA trip (kind of flooded the gallery... sorry)... it's kind of funny but I far prefer the layouts I did more recently than the ones when I first started the project.

Guess it shows growth in style or some such thing, I don't really think I have a particular style although I do seem to prefer the linear more structured way of doing things, would love to be more free form, I just can't manage it.

Thanks for looking!

Hello, ladies. Sorry I have left it so long to join in: put it down to envy of your scrappy time &/or scrappy purchasing...

My scrap buddies might be getting together next saturday, fingers crossed, will do a trip to the store nearby the venue then, my 1st trip since it changed ownership recently. Still planning on hitting Hobby-X thursday 7 march. The scrappy shopping part of this particular show has shrunk since its heyday about 2 years ago, but am hoping to see plenty of the retailers under one roof. My favourite (Carolyn's Scrapbook Factory shop) is confirmed, so far so good!

Off to look at your album/s, Tanya. Looked at your gallery a couple of days ago, prilquod.

Hello Scrapsontherocks, so glad you've chimed in... There seem to be so few of us on here, we need to cultivate the S A power

And thank you for looking and commenting on my layouts I really appreciate it, made my weekend.

You talking about the Cape Town store, Scrapbook Factory Shop? It's a favourite of mine too, they have a lot of the current stuff which is nice. I hope you do get to scrap with your buddies, I don't have anyone nearby to do that with but as I am kind of an introvert it doesn't really bother me too much.

I went to HobbyX years ago when they came to CT, hope you have a blast shopping

Hi Tanya

Love your layouts. Did comment on a few but they are all gorgeous. You have done such a great job!

Scrap on the rocks - what else can we call you. This is a real mouthful! Hope your crop does happen. What shop are you going to?

hi all

the Mr Price washi is great - i keep stalking the stores in case they get different styles

I'm thinking of doing project life - anyone participating? Im looking for low stress and simple - what albums have you found to be best to use?

Hey Sharma

I'm doing Project Life....I'm using one of the 12x12 modern albums from American Crafts. I did get one of the Beggy Higgins kits a couple years ago now and her albums are lovely but really for my needs, the 'inexpensive' albums do fine too. It is a d-ring album which I really do prefer over post bound.

Hope this helps, any other questions I'd be happy to answer. It's a great project, I really do love it.

Tanya - I also prefer the 3 ring binder type but find them harder to source.

Hi again Sharma. If you like washitape, then do check out www.washitape.co.za. Great designs and reasonable price.

Hi again

I've been thinking.... inspired by a lot of the threads I see here and at Studio Calico - why don't we do a local swap? I have things in my stash which I'm either tired of or unlikely to use and I have been passing them on to people but I'd love to send someone who really is into scrapping that which I can't see myself using. We could limit it to a particular sized box or envelope?

Anyone game?

(course it'd be more fun if more SA scrappers joined in)

I am game but most things in my stash are so old that I am not sure anyone would like them!

Also wish we had more of our 'own' peas
