Whether I have been working all day or just running errands, as soon as I walk through the door I put on yoga pants and a comfy shirt. Comfort is my priority. I also figure that I am usually either cooking or cleaning and don't want to get my "nicer" clothes dirty.
I have a friend who is a SAHM. Every time we get together, even if Ivan just dropping something off and I know she has been home all day, she is wearing nicer clothes. Not super dressy or anything, but usually a cardigan or button down shirt with nice jeans and jewelry.
Just curious if others do this as well and I am just a slob? Do you think your husband has a preference either way? |

Winter + sweats and a tee, summer = capri exercise pants and a tee. No husband but dog doesn't care. I don't think you are a slob. |

I generally wear nice jeans, sweater/top w/jewelry. The weather has been brutally cold so late late evening I'll change into American Eagle sweats (so comfy & warm) and a sweatshirt.

I wear yoga pants and a long sleeved cotton top or sweatshirt in the winter or t-shirt/tank top in the summer.
My husband is fine with it as long as I don't pull out the flannel pajamas instead of the yoga pants in the winter. I'd prefer that but he hates them as they look like "grandma" pajamas. |

I prefer (in the colder months of the year) yoga pants or leggings if I'm just hanging around the house. I'm wearing leggings and a hoodie tunic right now. It's very cozy for hanging around in, but it's still perfectly cute and presentable if I need to run errands or someone drops by.

I am a SAHM, so I pretty much wear the same thing every day. Jeans or khakis with a long sleeved shirt (and sometimes sweater) in cold weather, and shorts and a short sleeved shirt in hot weather. I'd wear the same thing whether I was going to be out and about all day or I was going to be home. The only time I wear sweats or yoga pants is if I'm exercising - for some reason I'm not comfortable in them for regular wear.

When I became a SAHM eight years ago, I swore I would take a shower every day and dress nice and I did. It became a habit for me. One day I was at my DD ballet class and a mom was dressed in lounge pants but looked so put together. She had on Aero sweatpants, Aero matching sweat jacket, Uggs and a pretty scar around her neck to match. She looked so comfy and put together at the same time. I immediately ran out and bought a few pairs of the same pants and I wear them most days. I will never go back. I feel better when I'm comfy.
If I'm going to lunch, dinner or even out shopping, I will wear nice jeans, jacket, sweater, etc. But when I'm home or go to pick the kids up from school, I don't hesitate to wear my comfy pants.

Yoga pants and a comfy shirt here too. DH doesn't care, he's usually sitting around in his fuzzy Avengers pj pants or sweats himself! As a matter of fact, if I don't change as soon as I get home, he's all like - "What are you still doing in your work clothes, you going somewhere tonight?" |

When I come from work I immediately change into my "at home" clothes. That's Old Navy Lounge Pants or their PJ Pants (which I don't sleep in). But if someone is coming to visit me I put on real clothes. |

i don't crawl around with toddlers...and i wear an apron in the kitchen

I've always worn jeans and 3/4 sleeve knit shirt when at home. I worked for so many years, so wearing jeans was my dress down.
I've been caring for our 3 1/2 year old grandson since he was 3 mos old...this winter, I switched to flannel lounging PJs and when it is nicer weather, I wear capri lounging Pj bottoms and a Tee (not for sleeping pjs).
But I always have a nice casual outfit ready to switch to if someone is coming by or I'm going out. When the weather is warmer, I'll go back to jeans so DGS and I can be outside a lot.

Jeans and a sweater\tshirt or sweat shirt. I am with kids all day so I don't dress up. Plus I don't want to ruin my nicer clothes cleaning and all that. I do touch up my make up and hair before DH gets home.I dont know if it matters to him or not. but it makes me feel a little better. If things are really good that day I have socks on and my wedding rings.

I generally don't clean up unless I'm going somewhere...so I wear sweats and a sweatshirt at home, and generally wear them several days (or parts of days) before I wash them.
On days I'm off to town early, I always change as soon as I get home unless I'm going back to town for something.
Sometimes I have two sets of every day clothes - one for in the house that is mostly clean, and another set that I wear to the barn and that smells like horses.
I have many different 'levels' of clothes for being in public, but if they are not my 'horse' public clothes, I never wear them at home.

I go for comfort while I'm home. During the cooler months I wear pj pants, fuzzy socks, a t-shirt, and a long sleeved shirt or flannel shirt. During the warmer months I wear a t-shirt and boxers.
If I needed to leave the house or someone was coming over I would get dressed into something more appropriate. |

My work clothes are comfortable enough to lounge in at home, so switching quickly when I arrive from work isn't a priority.
The item I remove first is my bra, and that's usually after I sit down after supper.
Weekends, I dress shabbier than workdays if I'm staying home, but still usually wear jeans rather than lounge pants/yoga pants or sweats. |

At home I wear yoga pants and a t-shirt and slippers. I am not grubby or sloppy but am trying to loose weight and then I want to buy some nicer clothes. I don't wear the yoga pants out in public. I don't dress up much anymore but want to change that - well not dressy but I want to dress better. I wear jeans most of the time when I go out.
I want to be one of those moms that looks well put together. I have decided that I want some nicer clothes. Right now I want to find some cute flats to wear with my jeans I am tied of my sneakers and want to look better. |

YES! And jewelry too. The bracelets I forget I have on at work feel like they weigh 10lbs as soon as I step through the door. First thing I do after I get home is change clothes and take off the jewelry.
Usually I wear either leggings or fitted pants like yoga pants. A tank top and some sort of long sleeved top or sweater. Everything is neat and not shlobby or oversized. I also put on mascara every single day. DH likes me in comfy clothes. He himself wears pajama pants and long sleeved tees. |

Somewhere between 6pm and 8pm I switching pajamas - cotton matching set, slippers, hoodie for an extra layer. Before that, I'm in fancier jeans and a sweater. I only wear yoga pants to the gym, they're too cold for me for lounging.
I sometimes change earlier if I'm bathing one of the kids.

Now on a weekend and might be out running around but not for dressing up, my new thing is yoga pants, plain tee shirt and usually a light jacket. I just started exercising and bought my first pair and LOVE them... So comfy and easy to wear and looks decent. Just to run to grocery stores, Target... not for dinner out (unless it is Chick Fil A.. I'm like you, definitely comfort is priority when I get home and know we're in for the evening. so...bra off, yoga trousers, t-shirt with a sweatshirt on top and cosy socks in winter.
I'm sure DH would say I look nicer in smarter clothes but he wouldn't expect me to not be as comfy as he is at home in our 'off' time. He looks nicer in a suit but I wouldn't expect him to wear it all evening!!

jeans, yoga pants, or pj bottoms with a tshirt and a hoodie. I am all about comfort. I work from home so this is what I wear a lot of days as well!
I get more "cute-ed up" for running errands and church and going out with dh for lunch and so on. But at home: comfort. I really don't think dh cares. One time in 20 years he told me he didn't like this one frumpy sweatshirt I wore (in his defense, it was kind of ugly) so I wore it less or when he wasn't around.

SAHM here. You'll never catch me in any shorts or pants with a button and/or zipper on them when we're hanging out at home. Sweats, yoga pants, elastic-waist shorts and t-shirts are my "uniform." I do not see the point in getting dressed up to spend the day cooking and cleaning and doing art projects and feeding and bathing small children. I don't think I'm a slob, and the people I'm friends with wouldn't think that about me based on the clothes that I wear in the comfort of my own home. My DH is only concerned with what's underneath my clothes, so he couldn't care less what I wear all day.
I love that I live out in the boondocks, where if I'm wearing yoga pants and a t-shirt that vaguely match and without holes in them to the grocery store, I'm considered dressed up in comparison to my fellow shoppers. Once, as I was leaving to run to the grocery store, DH asked me why I was wearing my "nice" flip flops. Cracked me up.
When we go out to eat or something like that, I'll put on a sundress if it's warm, or jeans/khakis/capris/a skirt, and a shirt without writing on it. But the second we're back in the door, I'm out of that and back into my uniform. Jewelry only goes on when we're going out, and comes off upon arrival back home.

Good to know im not the only one wearing yoga pants at home! I saw my friend today and asked her about it and she said she just doesn't like wearing t-shirts and yoga pants. We didn't have a chance to talk more about it. Her DH is pretty conservative so I was kind of wondering if she dressed that way because of him. But didn't ask that. |
