As I look at the sentiments available on stamps and embellishments, it seems they are all very similar--the best ever, adorable, what a wonderful life, etc. None of these really fit my personality, and I would never say or think them, so I don't want to use them on my scrapbook pages. I am not exactly a cynic, but I'm not gushy or sentimental either. I would really like to see sentiments that look at the quirky, frustrating, ironic side of life, not in a negative way but in a wry, humorous way. I realize that I can use alphas to spell them out myself, but it would sometimes be nice to have them ready-made. These are some that I would like to see.
--The worst day ever
--not again!
--oh. my. word.
--you did what????
--I can't believe you said that!
--unbelievable!
--not my favorite
These kinds of sentiments might encourage us to be realistic and honest about the way we look at everyday life. Scrapbooking products now seem to be unrelentingly cheery.
What sentiments would you like to see that you don't find?

Oh I'd love some of those type of sentiments. I'm very sarcastic in real life and some sarcastic stamps would be perfect for me.

I have the same problem. I tend to be sarcastic and I'm not fond of what I consider the very earnest sentiments. Even if I want something positive, I usually like a little twist to it.
I really love some of the quotes in this set: http://ak1.ostkcdn.com/images/products/79/965/L14314791.jpg

I completely agree. I've found a few good sentiments over the years. I'll hunt some down later today and post them with manufacturer names. Maybe that will point you towards stamps you'll like. One of my favorites:
"Blessed are the cracked, for they let in the light."

I totally agree. I am not an "Ooey-Ooey" kind of person and although I have a sweetheart of a dd, I have never used the word "cherish" on a layout about her. I make so many statements with just letter stamps and have worn out a few sets.
Here are some recent ones on layouts:
Indeed.
Really? REALLY???
Who knew?
Shakin' my head...
Do you have to _________??? (this went on some layouts relating to my older brothers, whom I adore, but still drive me nuts!)
Seriously?
Thanks for the thread. Maybe you could open a stamp company with your idea!!! SERIOUSLY!

There's an AE stamp set by TT that I think is called 'it's ok' and it's all about life's challenges, imperfections, etc.

Okay I think we need to start a new paper company just for this market. It can be called SMDH *Shaking My Damn Head* I'm seeing phrases like "Keep Calm and Have Another Margarita", etc.

"well it worked out all right in the end"
"What a circus"
"Chaos personified"
"Rushed"
"Blurry but beautiful"
"Moving too fast for the camera"
"Never sits still"
"Rest in peace"
Etc | |

Thank you for starting this thread! I agree that scrappy sentiments are generally too earnest for my taste. I love to scrap the quirky everyday moments with my boys and "Such A Wonderful Day" generally doesn't quite fit. Off to check out some of the suggesions!
I'd love to see "What were you thinking?" because we say that a LOT around here!!

I don't think I've ever seen a Project Life product without a glowing message on how great life is. How is that realistic in any way? I need a mix of "The Best" right along side "Worst Day Ever" and "Are You Freaking Kidding Me".
I've often wondered who is living these picture perfect lives 52 weeks of the year. Certainly not I.

And how "Just another day" or "It was a day" or "Another day, another mess" which are all how I feel when DH asks how my day was sometimes.

I always wonder what the children of the scrapper that uses all those "cherish", "beautiful", "love", etc words on their pages would say when they inherit those books. They might say that their family life was not like that and toss those scrapbooks away. I would love to see some "real" pages.
